Chad’s drumming has been my all time inspiration. The way he does so much with just a hi-hat, snare, and bass drum is so awesome. And to think this dude was a Metal Drummer before. I wonder if he still has his Metal chops.

One of the biggest influences on my drumming for sure. What makes him so unique isn't just what he plays, but moreso HOW he plays it. It's super-loose, but never crosses over into sloppy. All his limbs are always bouncing in 8th notes, which doesn't just create the seemingly random hihat textures, but also sometimes ghost-notes on the bassdrum. Nobody grooves quite like him.

By far some of the greatest drum videos I have ever seen. He is on point, and you can pick up the smallest details, hence his technique is flawless, what a groovy wizard.

This feels like heaven to me. I started playing the drums when I was only 9 after hearing “Snow” by Red Hot Chill Peppers. I love their music and thanks to this perfect video I now know how I will spend my time for a while. Thank you so much for sharing this, you’re such an ispiration. Sending cheers from Italy🇮🇹❤️

Thanks again Jeff. Such precision and fluid groove in your playing. It’s truly pleasurable to listen to.
My favourite Chad moment (there’s so many to choose from) is “Suck My Kiss” because he really sits at the front of Fleas bass lines with his kick, in particular, and drives it forward with real power, particularly in the chorus- you can feel it surging forward.

I have what most people would call a freakish memory, never played in a band that did covers , but grew up in the 80s and 90s listening to those bands, just from listening and my tapping on back seats, 95 % of all the songs from the bands of that time, from the Cure to Pearl jam I remember the songs and even the stops...so I built a crazy upgraded MKII Pro kit with all 12 inch pads, and 2 2000 watt Strike Amps, I have a second rack for cybals on the left side with the same MOD on the full kit,and in 6 months I moved from band to band and album by albums, and pretty much after the first song, the other songs come back to me aswell...I play around an hour and a half a day and right now this weeks work out has been "Three Days" which is a marathon, Depeche Mode - Walking In My Shoes ,The Toadies - Possum Kingdom ,Pearl Jam - Release ,Alice In Chains - Rooster, Stone Temple Pilots - Plush, Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication, Pixies - Gouge Away , Audioslave - Like a Stone, AIC It Ain't Like That , Smashing Pumpkins - Rhinoceros (demo 89),Depeche Mode - It's No Good .

I've incorporated the hi hat stomp into my playing now. I was working on 4-way independence but that was only working when I played ride cymbal. Now I can focus on independence all the time.

In "Naked in the rain" where the open hi-hat lands on the unaccented hh beat. Do you keep the whipping motion and not accent the open hh or do you accent it a little more and break up the whipping at this point? Would love to hear how you handle this, I ask myself this a lot in other beats as well where the open HH lands on the -and-. :-)

Hef Jeff, I have a question about open hi-hats:
I see drummers that lift their heel for an open hi-hat and others don't lift their heel up. I also saw that some lift their heel when play a short open hi hat(let's say in a 16th note groove) and when playing a long hi hat(on a 8th note groove usually) their heel is down
I'm curious about your approach on your left foot? I'm a little bit confused about keeping my heel down or up when opening a hi hat..
    Thanks man!
