This level of explanation is golden! I was the typical run before you can walk drummer that came unstuck with shoddy technique once the gigs stopped flowing in!
yeah, my brain could never make sense of what they were playing, But If I just sit and flow, it spills out. Don't ask me the music lol. I mean I can read sheet music, but it needs alot of work. Getting there tho.
Im thankful that you're sharing knowledge in drums. And even as a senior aged 72, i will devote time to learn this triplet lesson. May I request if you can speak slower so I can absorb it more. Thank you dave!
@@manuelfernando1962 Awesome sauce Dave! If you click the little cog looking thing at the bottom right of the youtube video, you should be able to slow any video down as low as 0.25%. also, if you are on a computer, a handy trick if you need to look at sticking, or how a fill is played etc, when you pause, you can use the , to back one frame at a time, and the . to go forward one frame at a time.
I resonate so much with that moment that you slightly goofed up and went "AHHHHH" with a smile haha! I was smiling right along with you. Loved this video!
Hi dave. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills on drums. However sometimes i find the vocal playback fast cause im a senior at 72 but still love playing drums and adding new skills.
Cool! Thanks to you, dear Dave, I am going to look at drum notes after a long time ❤ I feel, you really wanna bring it across and give the essence. I feel the groove already 😊 Have a great day!
There are some really good drum teachers on RUclips....this guy is right up there with the best of them. Exceptional drummer, exceptional teacher. Love your work Dave.
I got a Question: At 5:19 where the „create your fill“ section starts: You are mentioning to play it 996. But when I count it, it is more like 969. Am I completely wrong and missing something?? BTW - Love your channel, recently discovered it and am basically watching each day :D
Pretty much yeah. I've refined the process a little and made a few tweaks which Ive made an extra lesson on my online drum lesson site but I still just do this pretty much daily along with a few other systems. When improvising Ive found I still gravitate towards playing the 6 stroke roll so trying to move away from that towards true flowing improv. Generally my triplet vocabulary has improved massively.
Great work Dave. Systematic layers of immersion- clear and concise; well done keeping this under 17mins! I’m trying to source those tracks used in the improv, obliged if you’re able to clarify.
You are welcome. Some combos sound terrible, this sounds great. Another great soft stack combo is an 18" trash crash with the top of the benny trash hat things.

@@joselugo_6 HI Jose, it does sound great doesn't it! Both are Meinl with a 10" Extra Dry Splash ontop of the 10" part of the 10/12 Electro stax

I just checked and I had the wrong notation on the screen but the right playing if you get what I mean?
Thanks for enjoying the channel!
So 10 months on how are your triplet fills? Did you stick with the system and practice the whole time?

Glad you are learning with me 👊
I believe these are the fills people want to learn...Good solid in's and out fills...then we could add to them...great job.
Thanks!
