Hi Catherine, Laura was using Bio-tone which is a starter fertilizer not a rooting hormone. Your tubers will probably start without anything as long as they are warm enough. I always enjoy your sweet, happy disposition, have fun in your garden!
Oh my goodness....I could have sworn you were about to recite an Irish poem for us as you sat down in the sun after cutting the grass. Go for it Catherine...share with us some garden poetry ... As you feed your audiences spirits with the wonders of the garden. Bless you little one.
I have my pots of Shamrock plants blooming, one dainty pink flowers, the other white flowers. They remind me of fairy bonnets...the shamrock leaves would be pretty little ruffled skirts. They are bought yearly, as a sweet memory of my Irish Grandma. I have some jasmine in a pot, it may or may not survive. Then the herbs I keep on my sunny windowsill, sage, sweet basil, rosemary, parsley, dill. I cook and add my fresh spices to my soups, casseroles, roasted meats. It comforts me to look at my herbs growing in my kitchen...another memory of my talented line of women cooks! The daffodils finally burst up thru warming soil last week and they finally bloomed a day ago...but are covered with an inch of snow today! We will have to see what survives! Our weather has been very crazy this year...28 F today, two days previously...in high 60s! Hoping this blast of snow is March having a "hissy fit" that its reign of icy blasts and record snowfalls...is coming to and end! Hoping April will be kind-hearted and bring us beautiful flowers!
Hi Catherine and Queen B we were laughing so hard when Blondie was laying in the flower bed that was so cute. It's always a joy to see you puttering around in your garden❤
I planted tomatoes, swiss chard, bachelor buttons, squash, hibiscus, mint, chamomile, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, peppers. The weather here has been beautiful too. I've been taking my kitten outside to get a bit of sun. Blondie is so cute. See ya soon. 🌺❤🌺
you definitely don't need to use rooting powder on dahila tubers, it's best for dipping cuttings if you're trying to multiply stock. Haven't see the other video you mentioned but dahlias potted up don't need any water or attention till they send up the first leaves. the biggest risk to dahlias is rot in too damp soil or freeze/thaw cycles. Even if you plant them late, they will give you flowers. I didn't get some of mine planted till August last year and managed to have flowers till late November. I get Gardener's World in the US on Brit Box and yes, Monty makes a great case for heavy mulching and anything I can do to keep down weed pressure, I'll do. My garden was abandoned by the previous owner and sat for 10 years, the weeds are trying to come back every single day!
I have tulips and daffodils in the garden . Makes me happy the greenhouse is working progress at the minute fighting with the ants. Have a lovely week xx ❤
I am not much of a gardener, so I live vicariously through you. My husband is the gardener. IF I have inside projects that I want his help with I know he's not coming in until late fall and winter. Thanks for another great video.
I was laughing, when I saw Blondie, laying so lascivious outstretched in the middle of your plantings. Typical! Besides, lovely video as always. We too enjoy beautiful spring days, every day more green and spring flowers everywhere. Have a wonderful new week!
It's so good if the clock goes to Summertime ...I like the longer evenings very much . In winter when you have to get up in the dark and come home from work in the dark I feel like a mole ...
Don't forget that when you plant out the taller varieties of dahlias to stake them and my grandfather used to use my nan's old stockings to tie them to the stake as they grew..ultimate recycling 🤣🤣🌺🌻🌼🌼🌷
We've been mulching for a few years now. I live in SW USA. And it's hot and dry. We started with our rose bushes. They're all in the front yard. The last few years I've also mulched the flowerbeds in the backyard. It makes such a difference. And you don't have to water as often. The plants are doing so much better! 🤍
You all seem to have much milder end of winter early spring than we in the US. Everything looks so splendid!💖💖💖 yes on the poo. That’s all I’ve ever done. I don’t mulch. But the poo…oh yeah!
Here in the Rockies we can't plant outdoors until May 30-ish and we daily have deer going through our property. I take the easy way out and have perennials, and buy bedding plants for veg, herbs, and a few annuals. I watch Laura, too! I so wish I could have a greenhouse like you have, but the high winds and hail we get all summer, and our winter temps make it difficult to keep one. Many of our gardeners have already started seeds under grow lights and use fans to blow seedlings to strengthen the stalks. They keep the in their basements and dining areas--whatever space they can take over! 😃
I smile when you say 16oC is warm. Here in Queensland Australia we had 24oC today and we’re all saying how nice and cool it was. We rarely go below 0oC even in Winter so I guess 16oC would be warm to you. I can’t wait for cooler weather. Our daytime winter is 18-24oC and nighttime 4-10oC. Bring on the nice sleeping temperatures 😀
Best best best ever garden fertilizer and especially for tomatoes is fish scraps & heads! When you're planting your garden plants, even the ones in pots, chop up fish craps & heads and put some in the hole in the soil you're planting in. The difference is remarkable. I use one of those minced meat choppers to chop my fish. When the sun is bright and very warm you might need to add a light shade cloth to the top of your greenhouse. I have one on mine that's on cables, bigger eye hooks & pulleys. It was easy to rig & get screwed into place. When the sun is very bright & warm I pull the shade tarp over the top during the hottest part of the days. I love all the puttering you do in your garden and your approach to it. It's so lovely and very you.
Hi Catherine! Your silent viewer here. I just discovered and subscribed to your channel last year. I am so grateful that I found this community though I'm a bit late. Been doing a vlog marathon on your channel and I must say there's NO single video of yours that I didn't like. Just want to say that I appreciate you and your works. Lots of love.
This could be a repeat by many others, but thank you so much for sharing all your projects and your journey! You just made my day so much better. Please keep doing what you are doing 🥰
Hi Catherine, it has been beautiful weather in Wales too. So nice to sit and have a cuppa watching my dog’s play. I love your greenhouse, I would be in there all the time 😊
Omg I love you hahaa you are a farmer as am I 🤣 I watch Laura daily I love when you do videos in honor of what she's doing these days! I'm in 6b I'm dying to do all the things but I can't it snowed today! 🤦♀️🤦♀️ it was not a funny joke 😐
I’m in zone 8 in Texas and I’ve put two succession planted my potatoes and garlic to hopefully keep some of the bugs off them. I will be adding some flowers and herbs for companion planting too. I hav3 a lo5 of seedlings in trays and hav3 had to pot up some too. I hope my garden does well, I’m trying hard to keep my seedlings alive till I can get them in the ground. We shall see. Love you channel! My mother has Irish in her ancestry, it’s the Kelley clan, Okellough I believe is how it’s spelled in Gaelic. Hugs and love from Texas!
We’ve had beautiful weather here in North Texas and I’ve been doing cleanup in the yard the past couple of days. I’ve raked leaves out of the flower beds (left there on purpose for moisture retention) and tidied up my patio, hosing down the patio furniture and getting ready to spend lots of time there. Today I planted some pots with petunias and have more planting and transplanting to do tomorrow. My husband is cleaning our water fountain, and we’ll be getting it turned on this week. I love to bask in the warm sunshine, too, so your lovely backyard and flowers are a joy to see! I love your videos, Catherine… you and Blondie have a wonderful week! 🌷
I'm located in mid Michigan & we're having an ice storm tonight with 1" of snow predicted. So I watch ALL gardening related shows and wish for our weather to change. You're adorable, by the way.
Your yard looks beautiful Catherine. Here in the US, they’re considering stopping the time change 🤦🏻♀️. If that happens I’ll find it very strange. I actually don’t mind it. For my whole life (60 yrs.) it’s been happening. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it goes through 😊. Hope you’re having a nice day 😉🌷🌱🌷.
I grew up in Indiana and we didn't participate in the time change until I was in college- now I'm 30 so I don't have a preference at this stage for whether we keep it or not :)
I live in the southwest. I think I'd be sad if they decide to do away with the time change. I enjoy the most amount of time outside...in the most daylight.
I live in Southern Tennessee USA. I have a tiny home; that's actually a renovated storage building.( about 225 sq ft). My yard is a bit smaller but I do have a patio that's nearly the size of my cottage. So I do containers and raised beds. Right now I'm using a grow light inside to start my seedlings. Mulching and preparing my beds for planting. Weather here right now is cool and rainy! I love your style and your genuine personality. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos ❤
Been following Laura from Garden Answer for years and also her Highlights channel cause there she answers questions from her followers and its also so helpful 😍 I'm the same, still can't believe this weather 😅 we better take advantage of it as long as it lasts 😂😂😂 Great video 👍🏻
@@DaintyDiaries she does, it's called Garden Answer Highlights and she still have time to also make videos for Proven Winners channel 😬 Have no idea where she finds the time for everything, but its amazing to see the progress of her garden, especially since it became 3 or 4 times bigger, plus Benjamin and now Samantha 😂😂😂
Your yard is going to be so pretty with all the flowers your planting. So happy that Spring is finally here. Can’t wait to get planting myself. Really enjoyed the video. 😊❤️🇨🇦
Everything is so beautiful. I got such a kick out of Blondie laying in the flower box. A gorgeous yard needs a beautiful cat to make it supreme. ❤️❤️❤️🐱🐱🐱🌸🌸🌸👍👍👍
I’ve been gathering and generally corralling all my pots, plants and such in prep of moving. Hoping we’ll find a place soon so I can get my plants and pots settled into their new homes. I’m itching to get my fingers in the ground so maybe I’ll just plant out some dahlias into pots. What’s a few more to move ☺️. Have a good week 💕
Here in Southern Alberta I am just cleaning up, trimming trees and bushes. I plant in totes, so I am getting ready to clean them out. In a few weeks I will add manure and slow release fertilizer. I am also cleaning the deck and setting up my entertaining area. Lots of cleaning and preparing for the gardening season. Started lots of seeds indoors under my grow lights. Starting them according to how many weeks before our last frost date. Our last frost date is the May long weekend which, this year is May 21st. Already started about 6 herbs and 6 flowers. This next week is going to be the most busy when it comes to starting seeds indoors. Can't wait till I can start the cold hardy vegetables directly outside, that will be exciting! Love your videos! Hugs from Canada!
If you watch 'the Daily Connoisseur' she just gardens and cooks and house cleans in her good dresses with an apron. She lives by wear what is beautiful and don't let it sit in the back of the cupboard. And she has tea and cake every afternoon. It is her quiet time. Her name is Jennifer and she is beautiful like you but in a different way. Well we are all beautiful in our own ways but you are both blessed with genetics 🍀🌻🌸💛💙🇦🇺
Your yard is looking so pretty. I love watching you zip around your yard. I wish I could get into my back garden! But it is full of snow and it's snowing tonight, we have had a ton of snow this Winter, here in Manitoba, Canada. I am hoping and praying for Spring to spring upon us.
You garden looks so nice and your greenhouse plants are really coming along. So nice to see because where I i’ve in Canada we had snow last night and more to come this week. No sight of spring here, so nice to see you plants.
Looking forward to seeing all of those flowers starting to bloom. I started the big spring tidy up over the weekend while the sun was out. It was very therapeutic. Also had a cheeky trip to the garden centre to buy some more flowery friends to add to the borders 😊🌸🌼 x
I am going crazy here in the northeast USA. The weekend before last it was 72F/22C and I planted garlic and started lettuce outside like a fool. The last 4 days the low temps have dipped to 23F/-5C so I was covering my bed with leaves and plastic like a madwoman and moving my pots back into my (vinyl and metal) "greenhouse." This week the temps are popping up again to 50-60F/10-15C so we'll see if these poor little plants can survive. I have tomatoes in yogurt pots in my garage that I want to move into my greenhouse but who even knows if I should yet. it's all playing by ear. I love your channel!
Hi Catherine, lovely to see you enjoying the lovely weather. Your garden looks lovely already. I have been potting dahlias too. Blondie looked cute in the flower bed😁xxx
Love to watch your videos Catherine ..such a bubbly young lady ..it's a Pleasure to watch how your garden is coming together ...lots of helpful tips too ..Thankyou for sharing ..kind regards to you UK ❤️
You are so adorable I am so glad I found you, I look forward to your videos! I am Irish and have always dreamed of visiting Ireland. I am also a huge fan of Laura’s! Thank you for bringing a smile to my face in every one of your videos ❤️
You’re so lovely!! 💐💖🌟 I love Garden Answer! I’m enjoying Gardener’s World too! I love Charles Dowding ?? We started zinnias, marigolds, spring flowering mix. A volunteer sunflower is about to bloom!! 🌻 I sowed chocolate cherry tomato seeds and their about 2 inches high now!!!! My first time. I see the soil as our bodies, what we give the soil will determine the strength and longevity of the plant…as in we are what we eat! Good luck with your Dahlias! I haven’t tried those yet. Happy Sunday!! 🌟💐💖🙏🌠🌌🍃🌎🌳
Make sure you lay a tarp down before those bags are delivered because the clean up will be SO much easier when you are finished with them. Your area is so far ahead of Seacoast NH, we will have night temps in the mid thirties close to freezing this coming week for 3-4 days. I am SO anxious to get started! I have a rose to pot up, my flower bed to clean up. My front lawn to take up debris and lay seed. We must be about 21/2 weeks behind you!! 😑Can’t wait!!! I WILL be starring seeds this week at last!!
You can always add mycrorizal fungi to planting holes it’s like a powder and it occurs naturally in the soil to help roots find their way through the soil. I love watching your videos you’re just a breath off fresh air .
Hi Catherine im really enjoying the transformation of your garden you have done a tremendous job well done and keep your videos coming . So enjoying the garden ones. 👏🏻☘️🙋🏻♀️. Patricia
As a gardener I support mulch, mulch, mulch. Suppresses weeds, keeps in moisture, brakes down over time and feeds the soil. Like you I have been enjoying some lovely warm wether. My dahlias are just starting to pop out above the compost in their pots. And I have seed trays galore full of all sorts. Flowers and veg. Happy gardening. 🌻
Your instinct it right, what your bought is to help cuttings to root. The stuff Laura talked about is ‘Mycorrhizal Fungi’ which helps a plant grow healthy roots.
Ah, Catherine, I almost started planting some bulbs and seedlings outside, but something told me to hold off--and, sure enough, we've had another round of snow and a cold snap here in Buffalo, New York! I'm going to wait another 2 weeks now and then get them in some fresh soil in my garden! Narrow escape, that! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🏠🏠🏠🏠😻😻😻😻💖💖💖💖
my compliments for you that you usually wear white while gardening and can still stay so clean haha

ha ha, very clever
I mostly fed the birds. I saw the first hummingbird of the season today. It did my heart good.

You garden looks so nice and your greenhouse plants are really coming along. So nice to see because where I i’ve in Canada we had snow last night and more to come this week. No sight of spring here, so nice to see you plants.
All these flowers 💐 I can't wait to see..honestly it will beautiful
Your garden is looking so lovely and Spring-like.
You’re just a cute little gardener!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
😊 thank you Brenda
Use yr grass cuttings to mulch too. Standby, the weather is going to be significantly colder next week in the U.K 😞
I followed your lead today. I watched you mow and then I had a cup of tea with you.
You are certainly one capable and amazing young woman, Catherine. ☺️
Awwww thank you x
magnificent caring for your lovely space, this green house is wonderful
You put so much time and effort into your beautiful garden that I imagine it warms your heart💓🙋🏼💐
Thanks Lorraine, yeah, I am excited to see it grow x
Love the cat in the flower bed!
I a glad you are having great weather while I was walking today...all of a sudden....it started to snow!!!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing all of those flowers starting to bloom.
I started the big spring tidy up over the weekend while the sun was out. It was very therapeutic. Also had a cheeky trip to the garden centre to buy some more flowery friends to add to the borders 😊🌸🌼 x
Going to the garden centre, my favourite thing! X
Your hyacinths and paper whites look beautiful!
Lovely to watch and so therapeutic .love spring when New life beginsx

You are so adorable I am so glad I found you, I look forward to your videos! I am Irish and have always dreamed of visiting Ireland. I am also a huge fan of Laura’s! Thank you for bringing a smile to my face in every one of your videos ❤️
Aw thank you for your kindness x
You’re so lovely!! 💐💖🌟
I love Garden Answer!
I’m enjoying Gardener’s World too! I love Charles Dowding ??
We started zinnias, marigolds, spring flowering mix. A volunteer sunflower is about to bloom!! 🌻
I sowed chocolate cherry tomato seeds and their about 2 inches high now!!!! My first time.
I see the soil as our bodies, what we give the soil will determine the strength and longevity of the plant…as in we are what we eat!
Good luck with your Dahlias!
I haven’t tried those yet.
Happy Sunday!!
🌟💐💖🙏🌠🌌🍃🌎🌳
We had a polar vortex this weekend with snow and cold. Sigh...real spring may come soon I hope.
The weather over here in Scotland 🏴 has been beautiful as well xxx
Hi Catherine im really enjoying the transformation of your garden you have done a tremendous job well done and keep your videos coming . So enjoying the garden ones. 👏🏻☘️🙋🏻♀️. Patricia
As a gardener I support mulch, mulch, mulch. Suppresses weeds, keeps in moisture, brakes down over time and feeds the soil. Like you I have been enjoying some lovely warm wether. My dahlias are just starting to pop out above the compost in their pots. And I have seed trays galore full of all sorts. Flowers and veg. Happy gardening. 🌻
I better get that mulch on the beds! thanks for sharing x
@@DaintyDiaries thank you for your videos, you make everything look so pretty.
Always listen to your gut x x
Love the greenhouse! Looks beautiful!😊❤️
You are absolutely the cutest! Thanks for the inspiration!
