I guess a lot of subscribers saw Russell taking a sip of Laura's drink while she was talking to us. It was so cute. Russell and Chedder are such adorable kitty cats. Thanks for the talk on Dahlias. They are such a beautiful flower.
Ok it’s decided… Russell and Cheddar need their own special (or maybe even their own channel!) I’d love to see them exploring during the day. Bet it’s a RIOT! 🐈
Russell...what a cheeky fellow!!! I still love seeing his extra digit paws every time he's into your garden space (although this time he was also drinking Fresca!)
I have watched this video, along with several others of yours, multiple times over the past six months or so as I learned how to care for Dahlias after sprouting seeds and being a total beginner. I am now dividing and storing tubers with ease thanks to you and you alone. I cannot ever express my gratitude enough, you have made me a confident Dahlia gardener, and I absolutely fell in love with these flowers in all their varieties. From the greenest part of my heart, thank you so very much!
🌷Good morning Laura and GA Friends. Russell is so fun and funny, then licking his paws. It’s always a great day in Laura’s world …. Ya never know! Enjoy the day everyone 🌸🌱💚
I love how you show the mishaps too. That is how it all stays relatable . As I was opening mine, I kept saying “ yep it happens to Laura too”thank you thank you😊
Laura & Aaron your videos have become such a staple in my daily routine over the last 2 years. I find myself starting my day in my office by watching the new video of the day. My husband and I recently purchased a historic home 100+ years old and it is really forcing me to step up my gardening game since it is covered in hydrangeas. (Around 60 at last count) Love your videos and the confidence that you give your audience!
it's amazing what grows from weird looking tubers and tiny little seeds, isn't it? a real testament to "don't judge a book (flower) by its cover" 🤩🤩and as noted by several of us already - that Russell... "she won't even know" (until she sees the playback, lol)... silly cats.... 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 🌺🇺🇸 I love watching you divide your Dalhias with such precision 👍 Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾 👍 💓
Russel and Chedder are just like siblings, one minute they’re fighting, then getting into mischief and the next thing you find them snuggled up together sleeping! Love them!🐈🐈
I have many dahlia tubers too. Great to watch your process this morning. Mine won't go outside until mother's day. It is a lot of work. I give away all the extras to friends. I have several friends who trade with me. What a fun hobby. Sometimes I give away many flowers for weddings. Love being able to share this way. I'm certainly my HAPPY PLACE out in my dahlia garden.
The greenhouse is looking spectacular! Still quite a bit of work even with just pulling a clump each! I think your in-ground experiment was such a good idea, I hope it’s wildly successful.
Hi Laura! The best part was watching Russel drinking your soda, seeing Cheddar in the root cellar and the two of them in the chair together. Thank you so much for sharing!
Good morning Laura and family, 🐈s 🧃🐈 L🤣L I couldn't stop laughing. Love when you do your tubers, lots of good information. Have a great rest of the day. 👋🙂🌱🌸. We had a cold front come in yesterday the wind is nippy, cold today also ( Oklahoma Panhandle, Texas County USDA zone 6b. 👋
I laughed out loud when Russel was sipping from your glass!! Had to watch my cats all the time! I’m sure I have taken a drink after they did, more than I want to know! Love your kitties❤️
This reminded me of my mom's trip to the basement to check on her dahlia's in early spring... Life just zooms by without us taking time to stop and divide the dahlia's!
This is the first time I’ve seen your videos. I loved watching your process of dividing and pre-sprouting Dahlias. I live in Queensland, Australia so my seasons don’t match yours but I can still learn from you. Thanks.
Good morning! So many dahlia tubers, love the dahlias. It’s always fun to see Russell & Cheddar in videos. Missed Russell getting a drink from Laura’s glass!
Oh my!! I love Russell helping himself to Laura’s drink!! My grand daughter has a Yorkie and her Daddy had set his glass of tea on the floor beside his chair and wasn’t paying any attention and I looked and Cricket was helping herself to his iced tea!!❤❤😂😂
Our Dahlias along the warm foundation make it through each winter. The ground doesn't freeze and the soil sheds the winter water well. Good luck with the experiment! I hope it works out! 😀
Gardening is my therapy but I live in Minnesota zone 4. I so appreciate your videos and learning what you’re able to accomplish before the ground thaws. Thank you!!!
Last year was my second season with my dahlia cut flower garden. I was able to grow, dig, clean, store, divide, and multiply my crop. I dug them again in November, cleaned them and set them on a table in my barn, to prepare for packing. I left them too long and sadly lost most all of them. I kept some saying "there has to be ONE that didn't die." Fingers crossed. I tried to look at the bright side - I got to buy new tubers and plan to label them this time. It was so sad to lose them all - Lesson learned - let them dry for 1 DAY...not one week. Thanks for inspiring me!
Hi Laura! I have over 100 tubers heading my way in the coming weeks. Can’t wait to get them growing. I’ve been learning a lot about dahlias the last couple years. Could you do a video about taking and starting dahlia cuttings after some of yours get going? That’s the next thing I’d like to learn more about. Thanks for considering and as always, thank you for sharing your knowledge and your family with us ❤
Everyone loves the way my greenhouse turned out thanks to you show me how to make the tables workbench it really made it work out great thank you so much
oh how I wish I had the space to grow dahlias. our lot is way to shaded for them. might try some in a planter this year. you inspire me. you really should give Russell his own glass with ice.

Your a fellow Fresca sister my favorite! I love watching you. I’ve been gardening for years started out gardening with my papa. Me and my husband just bought more property moved and now building a house. My husband thinks I’m crazy because I’m gardening before we have our house done. Priorities right 😂
Russell was thirsty drinking some of Laura’s ice water. Wait a go Russell. I got dahlias for the first time last year because of you. They were beautiful and full full plants. Then they decided to get aphids or something and all 4 of them graduate died. I took them apart and no tubers. 😢. Great video hopefully everything goes great with them. Loved seeing Russell and Cheddar. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I’m making maple syrup today and doing a ton of seed starting as well as presprouting ranunculus. We still have snow and cold weather in upstate New York. Time to check my dahlias. I divide in the fall and store in vermiculite in my finished basement so I have to mist them a couple times during the winter to keep them from drying out.
I am trying dahlias for the first time this year. 🤞 We have lots of snow in the forecast for this weekend. I just pulled out my plumerias, begonias and elephant ears. Next on to the Cannas, caladium and annuals/veggie seeds. Hopefully I can get all of that done before the dahlias arrive.
This was so enjoyable. It's an exciting time of year! I just added a grow light area down in the basement so that I can grow the ranunculus and anemones at a cooler temperature until I can get them outside.
@15:00 look at those gorgeous pink primrose in the background! What a pretty backdrop 😍 My dahlias are still sleeping; waiting until April here in zone 6B to presprout due to space issues. So excited for this season!
Didn’t know you could pre sprout them… but luckily, I don’t have to dig them up in DFW… have a hard tie with rununculus and a few other bulbs, but Summer blooming bulbs U can over winter in ground are life changing! So great for beginner gardeners & gardens! I keep telling my fam to grow them bc of how easy they are, esp in Texas… I wouldn’t want to dig them up either! Live the idea of covering with tarp AND mulch… often have an issue with water, bc nothing else explains why they didn’t grow.
Thanks for the reminder, heading down into my cellar to check on them. I am in zone 7 now, I still do not trust that, but I dug mine up, not nearly the amount you have, but I absolutely love them.
I'm so curious to see how your overwintering experiment goes! Two falls ago I missed a few tubers as I was digging them up, and they came back (with no mulch and sub-zero winter temps!) last spring. I was shocked, as I'm also zone 6 and thought they would never survive our winters. My success rate with tuber storage has been terrible, so this past fall I decided to just leave them all in the ground and see what happens this spring. Even if only half survive, that's better than my success rate at storing the tubers. :)
Hello Laura! Nice to see some Dahlia action again. I have been trying to keep my hands off of my tubers for some time now. It is early and I have no space to grow them in pots. That said, I always start them in pots, just to eliminate the possibility of disease. I just have more space once all the vegetables are out in the garden. I also like starting from seed. It is lovely! They tend to give me nice big clumps of tubers even in their first year. Plus, a big supply of beautiful flowers throughout the season! I love Dahlias! I fell in love with them by watching your videos! I have learned so much about them from you! Thank you soooo much!!!!
Laura, you’re a breath of fresh air. So grateful for you, your family, your knowledge and your channel. I am wondering when you would presprout if you don’t have a greenhouse to grow them on a bit in, but want to give them a little bit of a head start? I’m in 5b/6a western Mass. Thanks!
Thank you! I never knew how to properly separate the tubers. All these years no wonder I've had so many fails with separating healthy tubers. Thank you for showing us.
Russel drinking Laura’s drink in the background while she is none-the-wiser! 😂
Haha! I saw this too! I came here to say “Russell totally drank your drink while you were out of the greenhouse” 😂
I used to assume that my cat had stolen any unattended drink and I needed a fresh one.
😂😂😂
I had to go back and re-watch the beginning to see Russell’s antics! He’s such an entertainer.
🤣🤣🤣
Russell helping himself to a cool refreshment 😂
😂🤣😂
🤣I spied that too! I just love that cat!
I laughed so hard! Looked like seltzer water to me.
I noticed that too.
I saw that too.

Oh my goodness I am so happy you posted this!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
My Molly likes to steal my milk. Keep telling her it's not good to drink milk.
I had to go back and watch too! 1:31
I watched it a second time just focusing on Russell. The cats need their own channel. Imagine how fun dubbing in cat thoughts!
Sounds like a great idea for a fan channel.
Yes! They could have it as a short!
Totally agree! The Russel and Cheddar show!😻😻😻
Cat thoughts with Benjamin's voice!

And Cheddar was in the root cellar when Laura was getting the dahlias. Such good little "helpers." lol
Good morning everybody! Enjoy Nature Today!
Love your channel!
You too!!!!🌸
I had to go back an find where Russel was sneaking a drink! 😂 at 1:20, sure enough! He really wanted to be featured in today’s video!!! 💚💚💚
I was looking for the time stamp because I missed it, thanks 😂
Thanks, I missed it also. Russell is entertaining! 😂
