I've been a Led Zep fan about 30 years now. I met Jimmy Page last week, bumped into him in the street, and shook his hand!!!! A true gentleman and my hero !!!!
Not trying to come off as bragging here, but I've been fortunate enough to meet *Jimmy* on 5 separate occasions. Each and every time he was so kind, so polite and so friendly. The first time, on his *Outrider* tour in 1988, he spent 30 minutes with me and a couple of friends. He was just the greatest. So... as rich and well known as he is, he's still very down-to-earth and very approachable. He's a living legend and one amazing person!!!
Just be yourself. Don't act like he's some rock god, just walk up and ask if you could talk with him. Of course, this depends on the situation and how many people are around. But if you can find him alone or somewhere where there's only a few people, just be nice and you'll be amazed at how accommodating he is. He's just a really nice guy, no ego at all, very friendly, very polite and just an amazing person!
Dr Death That's so great that he is so nice, I wish more people were like him. Lucky you btw that's so cool certenly something to remmember your entire life
The last time was in 1998 on the *Page/Plant* tour and after meeting him four times and him always being so nice, I wanted to give something back to him. I had read that he is really into bootlegs, collecting *Zeppelin* boots all the time, so I had this idea... Back in 1992 when he was working with *David Coverdale* they went to a bar in *Reno, NV* to jam and *Jimmy* ends playing with the band for nearly an hour and a half. And, through my sources at the time, I had a copy of this. So I copied that and it was funny, because it was after the *Page/Plant* show here and they were going back into the hotel where there were hundreds of people waiting for them. They each had three big security guys with them and as he was walking towards me I just stepped out in front of him and one of the security guys told me to move. But *Jimmy* either recognized me or was just so cool that he told the security guy it was okay. It was then that I brought up the time he and *David* went to the *Reno* bar and that I had a copy of that. I gave it to him and the look on his face was utter shock! He couldn't believe that someone had recorded that night and the recording had gotten out. But at the same time, he really thanked me, it was like it really meant something to him to receive this. So, after four meetings and getting autographs and photos, it was nice to just give something to him that I knew he would enjoy.
Dr Death Aaaaaah, you Lucky son of a gun!Meeting Jimmy once would be a dream come true for me,let alone 5 times!Happy to hear how friendly and warm he is in real life! The man is my guitar Hero!
Look how shy and fidgety and flirty he is. Ugh I would LOVE to interview him but I probably wouldn't be able to contain myself if he slightly leaned towards me and looked and smiled at me like that.. Ah Jimbles!
Look, there's also people who are actually naturally shy and itch like that in uncomfortable situations. Like me. Sure I know his history haha but it's not always drugs and by 1988 he had already quit the hard stuff
@@ayhamshaheed7740 No, no, Ayham. I meant that he evidences (in my opinion clinically) the behavior of a FORMER heavy drinker. While retiring and perhaps shy in the 70's, he didn't exhibit the freakish nervousness he has since the late 80's. Playing well - on that tour? I'm not so sure that he did, sounds like you too are a musician (me as well) and we all have our opinions. I'm a big fan of the guy and obviously he leaves a very solid legacy.
Allan ah I see you meant former fair enough. I’ve never met a heavy drinker or drug addict etc so I’m not too sure as to what behaviour to expect. I’ve only seen two or three shows, and usually or the zeppelin songs, so based on those his playing seemed pretty good, particularly on the latter tours. Just my opinion though
Everyone saying Jimmy is on drugs here, this was years after he got clean. It's more likely he's just bit nervous. It's just more obvious because he isn't sedated with booze and heroin like he was in earlier years.
I will say it forever, "Outrider" is one of the most underrated records ever done. "Hummingbird" could have been a Zeppelin classic. Same with "The Only One." The three instrumentals are great as well. Especially "Emerald Eyes."

@@bayukebab3248 I am so in love with Jimmy's body language was well! Jimmy is so sweet, yet godly, but you never would want to piss him off. He'll get ya!

Regarding the original recording and air dates...when she says he's going to tear up New York he says he's played two shows in the suburbs ("Nassau and the Meadowlands") then near the end mentions he is "playing tonight". When they run the upcoming dates it begins with Nov 4. Therefore there are only three possibilities for when this interview was recorded...Sat, Oct 29th (he played in Worcester, MA), Sun, Oct 30th (he played in Philly, PA) or Thu, Nov 3rd (he played in New Haven, CT). Jimmy was staying in town at the UN Plaza Hotel for all of these dates.

Julie B is nuts! The very last thing Jimmy is on stage is relaxed. At the very least, he is very intense, but mostly, he is pissed off/enraged, more than anything else because with the exception of Bobby, Jimmy is always surrounded by stage clowns who refuse to his stage direction. He gets just as pissed as Ritchie Blackmore, only he expresses it differently, but just as brilliantly, creating so many new and different sounds along the way due to the constant and never ending feedback/distortion from the friction of morons who insist on surrounding him...
