Jimmy Page...for as big a star as he is...he really tries to listen hard to the question and give thoughtful answers. He takes it seriously. He won't talk about much more than the music. He has a narrow focus, but he really tries to share. An interesting person.

I agree with your list. THE WHO NEVER get the respect they deserve. They were EASILY as important and groundbreaking as Zeppelin. The Tommy Rock opera and WHOSE NEXT album are MASTERPIECES.
THE BEATLES WILL ALWAYS BE THE GOVERNORS. Its not even CLOSE. And the Stones for PURE ROCK AND ROLL unforgettable RIFFS and LONGEVITY. Have earned their stripes. So yes that list is FANTASTIC.

Page is the guru of rock. He’s so centered. I’ve never seen him be anything but calm, polite, and well spoken. You don’t see much ego at all. And i think this lent itself to his ability to focus and generate consistently well-written and composed albums year after year. Not a bad one in the bunch. Genius.
Jimmy is a gentleman very proper Englishman well spoken , little different from Johnny Rotten also love Johnny he is very honest .
Zeppelin was so much more than what Heavy Metal is. They could play anything, any style and do it all - well. They didnt stick to one sound. You cant label Zeppelin into any single catagory. They touched on so many areas and sounds. They are the Greatest - Period.
I knew this since the first time I heard them at age 14, in 1987
They were one of the best...I’m 74 and still listen and love each & every of Zep’s classic songs...never ever gets old. 💜💋
Jimmy has mounted an impressive promotional media blitz which heralds the archival releases. You might expect he would tire of the same old questions, but its obvious that he relishes a discussion of Zeppelin's early creative process. It seems to enliven him, so this becomes quite a victory lap for him, arguably one of the finest musicians of the past fifty years.

Totally agree.. I wish he could have kept expanding more post Led Zep as a solo guitarist ...who knows in what direction he would have gone? I see him guesting with orchestras and having his writing live on in that venue too. He can't be pigeon holed

The picture of him lifting his double neck skyward wearing the dragon bell bottoms is to me the most iconic picture in all of rock.

Jimmy's body language is pretty interesting. He is almost constantly emulating guitar play. His left hand, palm up and out, making sliding motions. His right hand palm inward, making strumming-like gestures and finding pressure on his chest or leg. If you watch carefully, and know a little about playing a guitar, you can see his left hand is at times actually mimicking his voice inflections on a imaginary fret board. Pretty cool.
If you ever see Keith Richards on certain interviews he does the same thing. Thank you for noticing !

I'll never forget the first Zeppelin I heard thanks to my older brother around 1972, who also put my first guitar in my hands. I'll also remember taking some piano lab class in 8th Grade and I brought the sheet music to Stairway in. The teacher rolled her eyes when she saw it was Zeppelin, UNTIL, she actually began playing it. Jimmy, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and Robert were/are EPIC. Just really look at what all Jimmy Page has played on being a "gun for hire" studio musician! EPIC!
Jimmy is and always will be the greatest guitarist of our time and everytime you put an album of theres on you discover something new.

I'm kinda blown away by these videos on Y.T. of teens and even 20 somethings only recently discovering Led Zeppelin.It seemed for along time their music was passed on from one generation to the next one coming up. Seems like there was a almost pause period.

Jimmy was largely self-taught from the age of 12; Ritchie Blackmore was formally taught from the age of 11 for a year, including learning classical influences that have stayed with him from that time onwards.

Listen to his answer at 15:30. I was not a big fan "back in the day", if I was I would have been at the "Last Dance" at the Eissporthalle because I was just a few miles down the road that night. I have only recently just started listen to Zeppelin 'seriously', (forced me to dig my stereo out of storage and hook it up) and it's exactly as Jimmy describes for me now, what a trove of treasures to discover! The fact that this is possible 40-50 years down the road is amazing, it speaks the the quality not only of the musicianship but of Jimmy's vision all the way through it, that NONE of this stuff sounds dated, and that is why the Zeppelin will never come to earth. Thanks so much Jimmy, God Bless.

Newly minted 14 years olds happen occur every day. Led Zeppelin II is the Gold Standard. I was 14 in October of 1969. Led Zeppelin II was my introduction to Blues-Based Hard Rock. The power of LZ II will be impacting 14 year olds long after all of the 70's artists have passed on.

really nice interview... With a nice intimate feeling as if Jimmy was talking to a personal friend and sharing some remembrance of the emotional impact on those are early years and never heard him talk about in such detail how they first all got together that was really cool

Michael Stephen I walked by his house last month. He’s also being harassed by the opposite neighbor - his music studio is on that side and he’s concerned about the work noise affecting the studio. His house is absolutely beautiful.

06:34 This is the biggest worry that I have abut music moving forward. The album format, which depends, to a degree, on a physical product that you can hold in your hands, being eliminated. It makes the musical tangible. I am just not sure you can achieve that thru just a digital download. Moreover, in the future we could see such legendary bands like LZ, The Who, or Pink Floyd - or at least bands with these sort of aspirations - being shut out of the music business. Bands that need full albums to express themselves as opposed to a hit single. With the exception of a few tunes like "Whole Lotta Love," LZ was not a singles bands. Songs like "Over the Hills and Far Away" and "thank You" only became famous because they were on albums.

I first heard him with the Yardbirds(and they were good),then with LED Zepplin.At the time,there was very little information on the music like today.Only the name of composers.First time I heard LZ,was in Florida,and liked the group.Beatles,stones etc,I heard in school,in England.LZ is one of my favorites,unfortunately all things must PASS!

Theres music that literally sounds heavy, like the construction of the song, chords, drums, bass, etc. all comes together "heavy", but in the case of Zeppelin, its a case of really a lot the ideas are very heavy in terms of how they come across. Its fascinating for sure.
