2007-2012 was a special time in F1, where the field was so competitive and almost every season was decided in the final race.
2009 not so much, at least the first half of 2009 that brawn won almost every race and also 2011 rb and vettel really dominant (not comparable to merc dominance but still very dominant)
Hopefully 2022 will bring back that intensity

Petrov's engineer is a real legend. The way he handled his driver and the strategy was perfect. His name is Alan Permane and he is now racing director of Alpine team.

People didn't appreciate it at the time, but this was a golden year for F1. Schumacher, Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Button, Vettel, Rosberg, all world champions. Not to mention the challenge of Webber.

Schumacher said that he was disappointed that Ferrari didn't allow him to drive for them again. He was really keen to get back to the team in 2010. And he believe he should be cleared to race in 2009. So there is some payback time there from Schumacher
Also Renault will claim and celebrate the championship like their own courtesy of the engine supplier

10 years later: only one title contender stand since the start of the season (and even before the season begin)
Technically there was 4, Lewis had a outside chance to win
true, but that also involved everyone else finishing pretty much outside of a points position so it wasn't looking very likely anyway
Only one contender left when Mercedes launches their car in the winter
This is because of the point system. Someone with 2 wins has 50 points, back then it was 10 for the win. More difficult to get a lot of points

Man seeing all these big drivers back in the day, this was so monumental for Seb, not to mention his recent announcement for retirement. Proud to have him as one of the best drivers to ever be in F1.
Vitaly deserves to receive (at the very least) a Christmas card from Seb every year.
In terms of actual racing this race wasn't much cop at all, but in terms of the championship it was a real nail biter, and Petrov drove the race of his life

Lol so because one driver held up (a guy he was racing against anyway) Aden should thank him, no that is called racing. He held him up because he was also defending his own position in p6. Not because seb was going to win. That is what racing is all about, you got to defend when you need too, just as much as overtake when the opportunity presents it self, Alonso was just unable to catch up with him and get by. If I was in p6 and defending my spot, against anyone, I would defend it rightfully so. Every point matters to every individual and team.
Renault powered RB and Renault factory car. They share the same interest somehow. Any win or any point gained is beneficial.

Kamui runs (and still drives in) the Toyota WEC team, so he's gone up in the world and he's still eye-wateringly fast! He should never have lost his seat. It was only Toyota pulling out at the last minute that stopped him getting another drive. That was a criminal mistake!

@@ar-2284 he never dominated over 2010-2013 like Hamilton said he did. He had to fight every inch of track, every race, every point, every second! He fought so hard for his world championships! Vettel’s championships are much more exciting than Hamilton’s! Sad that Ferrari couldn’t provide him with a car that could be reliable between 2015-2019 to win the world championships! He lost out because of reliability of the car over those 4 years!

And the best sounding era imo is the v10 era Schumacher Alonzo or even the classic f1 sound -the v12 era-
