So basically: Ferrari got 1-3 in quali, then pulled a Ferrari strategy and finished 4th, 7th and 8th while Porsche and Toyota scored big points - yeah, seems typical

not really, it stopped decently fast, but sector three, where the rain mostly came down was hardly drying because it's a uneven and low speed part of the track

I was thinking the same thing. As sim racers we always complain about the first corner being a dog pile, but it quite obviously happens in real life too.

WEC needs more television coverage over F1, what a beautiful and dynamic racing....i dont see why this racing has little to no coverage in US
because there's very little action compared to the length. No TV will pick it up

As a brazilian I can only imagine what it means to Farfus to win at Imola almost 30 years after Ayrton's pass and at the same exact day of his first win in Formula 1, by Lotus. What a day it must have been.

This could be the case, but I don’t have 6 hours to watch a race EVER and the extended highlights are cool, but not nearly as fun as even a bad live race.

@@stibblrfax, like I can watch the first hour, then go to work, watch the hourly update videos that they post, and then watch the end. Perfect
there's a couple of reasons why WEC will never be as popular as F1:
- F1 has the best social media team in terms of promoting the sport an exposing it to more people and countries
- And for people who are employed and not couch potato experts, people do not have 6-24 hours to watch the races in WEC whilst F1 is usually 1 and a half hours only; F1 is also full of toxic fans and haters *cough cough Lewis Max and Alonso to name a few* especially Alonso and his deluded fanbase. So F1 is worsening over time with less sensible people learning about the sport and coming into it
My first WEC race live, and first time leaving North America (43 Y,O). This was as close to perfect as is reasonably achievable.
What a weekend! What a race! What a venue! Nothing against Monza, but I'm not sure how the FIA can say no to Imola next year.

Isottabros, we finished a race! (we were 7 laps down but still!)
They just need two other decent driver alongside Vernay and they could actually do shit... like not finishing 7 Laps behind and only 4 laps ahead of the winning GT3

It didn't decide the race but it did open it up. After that, it was anyone's to be had and Toyota did have a fight on their hands to keep it.

The commentator yapping for about 1 hour that Ferrari* needed to be on slicks while every car was going off track was very funny
He didn't wanna let it go bhahahaha
To be fair, it was a pretty baffling decision.
Ferrari probably could've actually survived with those slicks since only the last sector got really wet while the rest of the track was drying quickly, but they chickened out and went with wet tires FOR ALL 3 CARS letting the snowball of bad decisions rolling.
@@AbrahamArthemius They were losing enough time in that one sector to make the overall lap slower. They should definitely have split strategy though, pit one car at the same time as everyone else and left the other out longer
@@AbrahamArthemius they were losing 3 seconds every lap and the rain got worse later on. Staying out on slick would have been even worse.
@@AbrahamArthemius20 pro drivers saying last sector is too wet for slicks in hypercar yet the couch experts and one of the comentator think they know better than them.

Paused the video at 11:13 mark, so happy to see Dr. Ulrich back in a WEC race, even though as a VIP spectator. He is a figure of huge respect
I almost forgot about that guy and didn't even know he was in the paddock this weekend, but ironically I remembered his infamous "push him out" as soon as Isotta torpedoed almost half the field

To be fair, de Vries has been racing in WEC for a few times before with good results and he was even Toyota's reserve driver and poised to get a seat there even before his brief stint in F1.

I was there in Imola. At one point Ferraris were the ONLY ONES without wet tyres on the track and they were getting out of corners slower than gt3s. And still they decided to stay out. Not with one car, with BOTH, which is insanely stupid. If you're leading in front there are two rules: copy who is behind and if possible differentiate. They did not follow both of them.
The BMW in the hypercar class is improving every race! I am a fan :))
We must enjoy this golden era while we have it.

I haven't been following the WEC/LM series this year, but I am both shocked and pleased to see a team running the Lexus chassis in LMGT. The Vasser-Sullivan cars have been a personal favorite in IMSA since their debut so it's nice to see 2 more cars running globally.
Sadly the BoP hurts the Lexus a lot in WEC and their Bronze drivers don't seem to be as capable compared to even Vasser Sullivan's GTD class drivers.
Hence the night & day difference between IMSA Lexus & WEC Lexus.
Heck, the RC F that raced in Super GT GT300 class also fared better than their WEC counterpart.
@AbrahamArthemius, that's down to Thompson & Monticalvo being silver's in vasser Sullivan's gtd entries not bronze's
