ARE PERFORMANCE AIR FILTERS WORTH IT??? | Fitting a Racingline R600 Airbox to the MK3 Audi TT

- Today I'm in the shop working on the TT. Induction kits have moved on quite a bit over the years, I test out Racingline's R600 intake system for cars based on the MQB platform, in this case my MK3 Audi TT.
What's all the fuss about? is it worth doing?
This reminds me of fitting a cherry bomb exhaust to my Astra and driving home with the windows down and going through every tunnel I could 😂
In the infamous words of Jeremy Clarkston “increase in noise!!! No increase in speed !!”
I love the joy car engine noises bring to big kids… what are we going to do after 2030 😢
Omg I died laughing 🤣 at sucky sucky 11:12, nice install didn't seem to bad hope you get a cool electric car one day and mod it to Kirby style
Great video Andy. Wondering what mpg are you getting mixed driving and long motorway trips?
Any difference after a remap?
Hi, if anything it's MPG is better when driven calmly.
@@andykirby 40mpg on the motorway?
Nice addition but just don’t know if it’s worth the money vs what it actually does. If I do buy one, it’s the carbon apr one as it’s so nice to look at too. Great video 🙌🏼
Thanks mate, yeah as I say, if you are doing other mods it will be worth it. Maybe not if its just for the noise. Carbon one looks good. Pricey though 😊
Ive only got a 2011 S line Tdi , and it sounds shit. Do you know if theres anything i cud put on it. To try to make it sound alot better. If there isnt any to make it sound better/ more sporty . Im just going to get rid of it. Thanx . Jay
Great video, you mentioned the Stanborough meet, when is it, sounds a good day! thanks
Herts auto show on the 14-15 may👍🏼
Great video bro can wait to see the TT in person
Nice one! 😎 yeah maybe at the Stanborough meet!
Very interesting. Your engine bay looks almost identical to my Skoda Superb's, even down to the ribbed OEM air box and the long smooth intake cover. Enjoy your TT! All the best, Rob in Switzerland
It'll probably be the same engine albeit with some different parts like turbo etc! E888 engine.👍🏼 cheers!
@@andykirby Yes exactly!
Hey Andy. I have this exact model with stage 1. Will it be worth it?
Yes!
I have the same air filter for my mk7 gti. The foam filter do not last, it fall apart after 5 months of use.I would suggest you change it to a cotton filter made by VWR/MST
Do you ever cleaned it?
what do you mean by "falling apart"??
You should get pressed number plates -- they would look amazing on the TT! Just my opinion though.
Hey where did you pick up that honeycomb grill from ?
Any info etc. on the Audi tool kit/driver shown? Looked really good.......
he said aldi bro
Well that's all good and stuff like that however tsfi engines are notorious for carbon build up in intake valves, that should be first "mod" you should do is blast them clean if you haven't or previous owner haven't done that.
Interesting thanks.
This isnt the tfsi anymore this is the tsi its the vw/audi ea888 engine
Sounds AWESOME mate 👍
I'm putting my bike up for sale that had the same conversation as yours handle bars done seat etc .I paid 1400 for it whats a good second hand price .I've only put 70 mile on it .I need a taller one now that I'm familiar with cycling and my false leg it dine the job n got me out exercising out in the country cycling the canal roads in Edinburgh I've had a blast on her ,so looking to pass her on to someone who could get the same enjoyment out it ,any ideas andy ,cheers ,

decent intercooler next and some catless downpipes👌
The pipe on the bottom of the air filter is to let moisture out put a snorkel on a 4x4 and it does the same except its like a forced air system
Thought so👍🏼
What you need is a TTRS. I had a 2022 TTS, but it wasn’t like the big brother. Picked up a 2021 TTRS about 30 days ago. Just had a stage 1 tune and a transmission tune from United Motorsports on Friday. Installed a CTS air intake yesterday. It sure hits 100mph quick. Great video👍
Such an irrelevant comment. What you need is a V10 which has double the cylinders than the TTRS. I can make irrelevant comments too, you see?
What exhaust are you running?
Looks a fun car!
the problem is water, if water gets in that you might hidrolock the engine. I would put an air filter asap but im so afraid of water :(
this makes zero sense
👌
For sure tesla wasn't chasing you, he just drive after you. Time to change pistons to forged once and coated with molibden a.s.o. ,bigger turbo, mapping.
I went down the road for about 10 mins after that clip and he was having a play, usually at the moment they are driven by middle aged women! TBH mods on this one will be mainly bolt on to see how far it can be pushed without rebuilding.
Original inlet?
Next Mod Armytrix yeah? 😉
You really want me to dint you!!!
@@andykirby it’s perfect for what you want.
put a whistle on the dump valve. lol
Best to take pictures before removing parts
I shot a whole video 😅
i dont understand why not buy a ttrs 400bhp as standard .good for 600bhp.a 2ltre tt will never be as quick. plus i would guess insurance costs would be cheaper on a standard rs than a highley modified tt. suspect you are making shed loads from you tube. so fair play
A TTRS is about 50K currently for one the same age as my car. Yes they are amazing cars. This TT will be quicker than a stock one by the time I'm finished with it and that's a lot of bang for the buck. I know they can be modded as well but for that money I would probably buy an R8. Ultimate dream is the R8 V10 plus with Twin turbos!
TTRS are almost 20,000 more than a TT. 🤦♂️why not?? Could be the difference between a $600 monthly payment and a $900. Why not get a Ferrari?
How old are you? Lol.
12?
Yep I'll never grow up😅
@@andykirby still buying max power and fast car magazines ;)
There is a saying whatever make you happy doesn't need to make sense to anybody else
Do they even still sell them!? 🤣
Yeah learnt that a long long time ago!
I just spent 5 grand on an intake
