@Devon Bishop You obviously haven't watched Madonna's, 'Oh Father' (ruclips.net/video/qvVvN0QvzTk/видео.html) also directed by David Fincher, and, arguably, the greatest music video ever directed by Fincher.

Without even telling a word Christopher Walken's performance is outstanding. His mute character is almost an Angel of Death but also is the ghost of Madonna's character love of her life. David Fincher made a superb work with this video, so attached to the lyrics of the song and telled in a very sophisticated visual style.
Was he the angel of death or her guardian angel!? He cried when he lost her and wasn't following her and she got into trouble and she died. Fascinating the interpretations we can get from the video. So underrated!

When I was 15 years old I bought the album "Erotica" with my savings. And the first times I listened to it, I didn't really understand the meaning of some songs. Already as an adult I realize that Madonna always told us about topics that were forbidden and that today there is a lot of information about them. "Bad Girl" tells of a woman involved in a toxic relationship who seeks to distract herself from her reality through debauchery and self-destructive behavior. There is no doubt that Madonna has always been ahead of time.
That's interesting I always read it as I had no relationship so I was self destructive this was such an important album for me growing up as a young gay man I think it's one of her best albums
I always interpreted as someone who was guilty of hooking up knowing that they were in a relationship or had someone else. I also can see the video/song has someone who is depressed and distracts themself with hookups. Unfortunately it ends bad for her in both interpretations
The video shows no evidence she has “A” man, that she was in a toxic relationship. This is a cautionary tale. This is about a woman who is single, self-centered, and sexually promiscuous. A workaholic whose lifestyle makes her miserable (hence why she drinks so much). All these things were said about Madonna at the time: she was a man eater, she slept with every man, she was a workaholic, she would end up tragically (just like Louise Ciccone in the video). She gave the world a version of what the press insinuated about her and how they looked for her to end tragically.
In the year of 1992 we find Madonna at her most artistically and lyrically potent during the Erotica era. I just love how her eyes are so expressive in this video ..she is the greatest of all time of giving sexy eyes and glances. She looks absolutely beautiful in this video.
This is the last time she looked young, few months later she made lot of excercise and got emaciated, was a shame, she never recovered since Girlie Show
Scary how good this song and video are. I remember when People magazine named Erotica the worst album of the year. To all the haters who thought this masterpiece and her Sex book would end her career, here we are 28 years later...who had the last laugh?
Erotica is criminally underrated. It is lyrically probably her deepest, considering it's a concept album. The Sex book took the focus away, which she probably hadn't counted on. Rolling Stone gave it a good review at least.
Bad Girl. One of Madonna's bleakest and darkest songs with no light in sight. Rarely does she write songs where there's no positive messages. BADGIRL is deep sadness and agonizing pain that slowly drips into all facets of one's life. Absolutely loved the celebration performance with Mercy James.
I was early 20s when this came out, too... the erotica album will always be one of my favorites. The explicit songs made me feel very free to express my sexuality.. to find myself.
Deeper and deeper, Secret. Her output at this time was excellent. She may get knocked for her personal life, but her talent is undeniable..this song and video is dark and haunting. She's produced some magnificent tracks.
This video is not a video, is real masterpiece, a real work of art, as well as the song...!!! Madonna in the 90s...!!! Erotica era was just awesome. Thank you God for allow me to live in the 90s...!!!
"Erotica" is one of Madonna's best albums. It's one of those records that I listen to from start to finish without skipping tracks. Album unfairly underestimated !!
This is probably the best music video ever made..... goes perfectly with the song, its a mini movie... its haunting, gives you chills when they bring the body out of the apartment at the end of the video. Very powerful..
@@linus98765 never given that a thought... I think that would be very intriguing. Madonna has gone through so many different styles, now in her more mature years maybe it a collaboration that could work...

Arriving in Lisbon right now. I’m crying I’m about to see our queen tonight, after 14 years. I’m crying to have learned that she’s included Bad Girl, my favorite song. OMG, I’m thrilled!!! I love you, queen!!! ❤ 💫👑

This video is so magnificent. Probably the best video Fincher has ever done. Combine with this amazing song this is a masterpiece that deserved HD a long time ago. Every detail in the video is well thought out, so telling, it sends chills down my spine still. Walken is giving the oscar worthy performance, without telling a single word. Good old times, 90's when such cinematic marbles have been made, you can't see anything even close nowadays. I can only imagine the budget for this one. Even though everyone at that time was giving her a hard time, she just pushed this record and released marble after marble. After 30 years #Erotica30 we can finally appreciate the ground-breaking art she was doing at that time. Thanks, Madonna, Warners, David.....
well said! she received a torrent of abuse from the press, but her beauty, talent & artistry is phenomenal. This is song is heartbreakingly beautiful. The production is incredible, not overdone and this video was cinematic quality. She is forever an icon & im so grateful to be alive in her 40yr reign!!! magnificent!! 💯👋🌟👑👑👑
Brings back memories. I was living in NYC in 1992. This was Madonna in her slickest video and at the peak of her beauty. Song is a bit overlong but still has soul.
This is definitely one of her best cinematic videos. How a woman's promiscuous ways caught up with her. Watching this video as many times that I've done makes me tear up. It's like a PSA to all women that if you're not careful. There will b dire consequences.
This is such a great song/video about the danger of addiction. I remember times I lived like this as a way to cope with trauma and the lyrics are spot on, I definitely wasn't happy.
Absolute masterpiece. The song the video. By far her no.1 for me and that's coming from someone who has mostly LOVED each and every song of her unending art.
Definitely one of the best visual works on the official Madonna's videography . The dark aesthetic made , is considered the best level of a soundtrack . The video has mini spoilers that offer the viewer a trailer of intimidation and absolute thriller . BAD GIRL is a classic .
This video caused me to smoke like crazy after watching it. Gawd I loved her so much in the late 80s and 90s. I was so obsessed with her that each time there was anything news about her on tv or the newspaper, my heart would jump! She was like a drug I couldn't get enough of.
One of the best music videos ever made. Madonna rarely tells about the context or premises of her ideas, she is always the best, always better than the rest, this masterpiece is so timeless.
Erotica, was one of my favourite Madonna's album, it such a shame that when it came out, people did not understand what it was all about, constantly underrated and criticised. Thank you Madonna for having pushing the boundaries and allowed us to understand and discover other ways of relationships and different manners to love and being loved... 1992/93, New York City, the Best years, no iPhones or iPads around, just staring at people in a cafe while smoking a cigarette. Missing these years...
RUclips is great to have. I miss having a stereo to listen to music in my SF apartment. Social media is great for closed groups, and meeting people threw these groups, but carrying around a smart phones, I hate. I miss having an SJP phone and answering machine, to come home to. During global shutdown 2020, I would leave my phone at home to go to the bodega. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I feel like there is no privacy with a camera connected to a smart phone. Oh, yes Erotica is a fave next to New Order 1987. With RUclips, you don't have to pull out CD after CD. And with laptops you can organize your collection in an app. And coffee, SF is a cafe town, but I tend to frequent Starbucks drive thru instead. "Starbucks, LiteBrite, first star I see tonight" "StarBurst, luckystar, lipstick cherry is my fave starburst all right"
Her artistry is timeless and she sang about things that women just like men go thru. This video is an homage to Looking for Mr. Goodbar starring Diane Keaton. I was blown away on how dark and tragic and ultimately sad the movie was just like this video. A woman struggling with loving herself. Like all of us at some point .
This right here is not just my favorite Madonna video, it is my favorite music video period. It's just brilliant. The song is just as amazing. Must be the most underrated song in Madonna's incredible catalogue. What an artist. There will never be another quite like her.
She's a talented music artist and she expresses her emotions and feelings through singing way better. That's why in Evita she was brilliant, it was like a long music video. Either way I loved her in "A League of Their Own" and "Desperately Seeking Susan". People always give Madonna such a hard time for her acting roles in movies but they don't understand that it's almost impossible for her to make people forget that she's Madonna, the greatest Pop Star of all time and the least private person in music. With the right role she can be very good.
This is one of my favourites. Infact the whole Erotica album is truly a masterpiece. No one has ever done what this woman has done.

David fincher showing us the story of the victim of a crime, with a beautiful song of madonna as soundtrack.
I just wish she had more cinematic video clips in her catalog. 84% of the reason why I love this single is the video - my top 3 besides Take a Bow and Rain. It's a masterpiece!
Her 90s vids are stunning
@@MagneticElectric_Mark The Best! #erotica30 ❤️

Even now, 29 years after it's release, this video still makes me cry. Christopher Walken and Madonna express so much emotion in such a short space. I wonder why this never get made into a full length movie? It would have been a blockbuster!
Watch the movie or read the book, "Looking for Mr Goodbar".

I just love how her eyes are so expressive in this video ..she is the greatest of all time of giving sexy eyes and glances. She looks absolutely beautiful in this video.
I agree 100% with that.
This is the last time she looked young, few months later she made lot of excercise and got emaciated, was a shame, she never recovered since Girlie Show
When she said "I don't wanna feel blue" I felt that.
Same. I think the point is we will do almost anything to avoid our feelings. And you see what happened to her because of that : (

seriously beautiful song, was surprised this wasnt part of a film. A shame really, because it captured something.
Damn I thought this was from a film. High quality music video! Go queen!!
It is based on Looking for Mr. Goodbar

Christopher Walken elevates almost every project with which he is involved.
I only watched this video bcs of him
I love his appearance as the "Angel of Death." It is so poignant.
@@RosePetal17, according to Mel Gibson, hes that irl too. Apparently when they met at a restaurant, Walken levitated across the room. 🫣

Scary how good this song and video are. I remember when People magazine named Erotica the worst album of the year. To all the haters who thought this masterpiece and her Sex book would end her career, here we are 28 years later...who had the last laugh?
Agree. This video and the song, so emotional. Around the release of that song those words spoke to me.
And now erotica the album is considered essential Madonna. Ahead of its time .
@@bdfan4ever I agree! I can hear a lot of artist being inspired by that album. They dont say it, but I hear it.
Erotica is criminally underrated. It is lyrically probably her deepest, considering it's a concept album. The Sex book took the focus away, which she probably hadn't counted on. Rolling Stone gave it a good review at least.
For me, Erotica is my favourte album from her, together with 'Ray of Light'.
Bad Girl. One of Madonna's bleakest and darkest songs with no light in sight. Rarely does she write songs where there's no positive messages. BADGIRL is deep sadness and agonizing pain that slowly drips into all facets of one's life. Absolutely loved the celebration performance with Mercy James.

brilliant masterpiece
I feel so lucky that the Madonna Erotica era happened in my early 20s when the clubs in NYC were a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The best of times.
I was early 20s when this came out, too... the erotica album will always be one of my favorites. The explicit songs made me feel very free to express my sexuality.. to find myself.
You’re so lucky to have that experience. Her Latest music just doesn’t hit the same. Erotica will always be my favorite album of hers.
Deeper and deeper, Secret. Her output at this time was excellent. She may get knocked for her personal life, but her talent is undeniable..this song and video is dark and haunting. She's produced some magnificent tracks.
Fucking great clip Madonna!!!
That's why she remains on top.
Well said 👏👏👏

One name: David Fincher
They couldn’t have paired her up with anyone better than Christopher Walken!! Absolutely the best the both of them.
Wow, what a video! Like a movie! and with Christopher Walken!
The artwork in the Apartment are original photos by Steven Meisel. She always made friends with great artists
Would love to see Jeff Lynne and Madonna collaborate for one song. That would be epic!
@@linus98765 never given that a thought... I think that would be very intriguing. Madonna has gone through so many different styles, now in her more mature years maybe it a collaboration that could work...
Very morbid but the scene when she and Christopher Walken (Death) are sitting in the tree is my favorite. There’s just something so… mysterious and intriguing and fascinating about the afterlife

3:36 When she puts on her make-up and sings to the mirror.... It always gets me. I am amazed by her acting in this music video. It should have won awards (Correct me if it did.)
They weren't giving awards to Madonna back then, she was too controversial for her time
She won an Oscar.
Great song and yes definitely underrated. I still remember her singing this on SNL way back when.

Erotica, was one of my favourite Madonna's album, it such a shame that when it came out,
people did not understand what it was all about, constantly underrated and criticised.
"Starbucks, LiteBrite, first star I see tonight" "StarBurst, luckystar, lipstick cherry is my fave starburst all right"
I'm impressed of how your comments are so incredibly analytics and corrects, I always learn something .thank you
Erotica was probably one of the best albums she ever made back in that time
Her artistry is timeless and she sang about things that women just like men go thru. This video is an homage to Looking for Mr. Goodbar starring Diane Keaton. I was blown away on how dark and tragic and ultimately sad the movie was just like this video. A woman struggling with loving herself. Like all of us at some point .

Madonna was a better actress in music videos than movies.
Probably those movies were just bad.
Yesss! This is absolute true.
Yep. This music video should've been made into movie. Her makeup was flawless. Wardrobe on point and her apt. was spectacular!
Watch body of evidence
This is one of the most profound songs of Madonna which proves her as an absolute artist.
