When came out after being caught in a public toilet with another man, he seemed to recent his teenage fans like we made him do it. In several interviews, George said he had girlfriends and it was a struggle for him. He said he was trying to fit this image..He knew he was gay but being straight- foward with his folks, would have strained their relationship. (Especially with his father.) George kept his true sexuality a secret until the early 1990's, when he had a relationship with Anselmo, who died from HIV..and then in 1998, the infamous bathroom incident.. George finally admitted to his fans and the whole world, he was gay.

The genius of this song and most great songs is how it can have so many different meanings to people. How many people love this song and think about their dads, or their spouses/significant others. And then how many people know that George could've also been singing about gay sex? If you didn't know this, re-read the lyrics over and over again with this in mind, and you'll see how incredible it is to write something as great as this. Prince did it all the time too. You think it's about one thing, and then it's also about sex, or religion. Like Under the Cherry Moon. If you think about Cherry as being a woman's privates and Moon as her butt, and what being under it means, it adds a whole other meaning to the lyrics. Even the long version of Ella Fitzgerald's Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered. Amazing song, it gets very risque at the very end. Great lyrics that are so sexy if you know what they're talking about. Very smart to be able to write like this. And to have it be a hit song. Pure genius :)

I am 67 I seen it all up close and firsthand. I even worked in the recording studio where jingle Bell Rock was made. Back then recordings work much harder to make. Big old reel to reel recorders. Not transistorized tube type. Big amplifiers all tube type but those old tube type amplifiers, have this old Sweet sound that transistors integrated circuits just don't touch. I seen a comment another comment said thank God for a good old days. Those were the exciting days. You kids have it all done for you.. now some AI can just spit out a bunch of stuff. And y'all are gullible to believe it. Have a healthy skepticism of anything unless you see it or do it yourself

She is the one who sent me a text with a link to this song and the original Music Video! I am now going to listen to a few more before I go to bed! I miss George Michael he is missed badly. 2016 was a bad year for music. Prince, Michael Jackson and we also lost this man. It was a bad year 2016 for me personally also. I met my husband that year and I lost myself. Now we're apart I am lucky to be here still. To have my life. I met my son for the first time this year he's 7 now. ❤😊
