Makes me appreciate the '80s and the time that we grew up in esp the music. I just wish I would have slowed down and not wanted to grow up so fast. Can't believe the stuff my daughter listens to nowadays actually passes for music 🎶
My wife and I love George Michael’s music. This song was our wedding song. It stands for the deep passionate love we have towards each other!! Thank you George for this timeless classic!
Man I miss George Michael! This is probably the sexiest song ever sung. RIP. A brillant video, that leaves much up to the interpretation of the viewer. Is anyone listening to this excellent piece in 2019
Hey Karlin, if you love George Michael as much as I do......get the CD called "Older". That CD is super sexy, and AMAZING!! He plays most all the instruments in it too. The CD "Ladies & Gentlemen" is a double CD and also amazing. Him solo, blew away his days with WHAM in my personal opinion! 👌💋❤️
I always tear up when he sings "So when you remember the ones who have lied, who said that they cared but then laughed as you cried, Beautiful darling, don't think of me because all I ever wanted... it's in your eyes" 😭
I'm a 67 year old man, and don't ask my why, but this song makes me emotional every time I hear it. After it ends, I can't play anything else and have to sit and think to myself for a while.
Hey buddy, same for me as well. ever since the song came out. With time (age) I've come to really appreciate how great a talent GM was even while I don't care for some of his music, some of it is simply brilliant; Father Figure being tops.
Seriously. I was in my teens in the late 80s and there's nothing remotely like this on the airwaves these days. Hell, at this point you practically can't have a hit if you don't use autotune. This time was a rare moment when just about any sound could be heard on the radio.
I guess that everyone fell in love with George because he was the perfect mix of masculinity and sweetness, especially in the "Faith era". This boy with a defined jaw, full lips, unshaven beard, hairy chest and gorgeous thick hair was the manliest of men and yet there was such sweetness in him that was also expressed by his soft, mesmerizing tone of voice when he spoke, not just when he sang. A gentle soul, you couldn't help but be charmed by him.
The 80s were an era of miracles and magic. This music will span the ages for how insanely good it is. George Michael will live in our hearts and minds for centuries to come.
@@storytellaz5503 You're not wrong but that's not a comment on him, it's a comment on society that can't handle the fact that some people are gay. About 30 years before this video Alan Turing was chemically castrated for being gay [in the same country] after having won the intelligence war for the allied forces, shortening the war by at least two years, saving hundreds of thousands of lives. You'd think that would be enough to keep him out of the dog house but no, oh no, he was an indecent monster and had to be castrated. So, the fact that George Michael did not want to reveal that aspect of his personal life is not a surprise. Not even Freddie Mercury wanted to publicly acknowledge being gay [at least bisexual] because of how the public would perceive that. George Michael being in the closet was an act of self-preservation. The shame for that is on society not on him.
when this came out it sounded like nothing else on the radio. it was so dreamy, mesmerizing and unique. and today it sounds so timeless. what an incredible songwriter he was.
The genius of this song and most great songs is how it can have so many different meanings to people. How many people love this song and think about their dads, or their spouses/significant others. And then how many people know that George could've also been singing about gay sex? If you didn't know this, re-read the lyrics over and over again with this in mind, and you'll see how incredible it is to write something as great as this. Prince did it all the time too. You think it's about one thing, and then it's also about sex, or religion. Like Under the Cherry Moon. If you think about Cherry as being a woman's privates and Moon as her butt, and what being under it means, it adds a whole other meaning to the lyrics. Even the long version of Ella Fitzgerald's Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered. Amazing song, it gets very risque at the very end. Great lyrics that are so sexy if you know what they're talking about. Very smart to be able to write like this. And to have it be a hit song. Pure genius :)
The best years were the 80's-90's the best fun, really living and enjoying those years of youth to the fullest... with an incredible sense of freedom and real happiness. No social media to waste and destroy our neurons and our precious time.
I just listened to it for the first time in a while and it brought me to tears! I’m not sure why but I think it just brought me back to such a happy and carefree time of my life. I was ten years old in 1987. ALL of the songs George wrote and sang were very powerful and emotional!
Chris Stevens Indeed it is!! We have lost so many great people this year. Thankful for real musicians like George because this crap now a days sucks lol I miss the 80's. :-(
I remember the first time I heard this song. I was about 13, and it was a lovely spring day. I was riding to my aunt's house, in her car with its amazing sound system. As twilight fell, this hypnotic music drifted out from the speakers. I didn't understand the sentiment fully, but I understood the emotion and the longing it conveyed, and I felt it in my naive little soul. Years later, I understand this song far better, and it's even more magical. George Michael wrote songs that touched us for a lifetime.
George Michael is by one of the greatest singers of all time. This is one of the most powerful ballads ever written. The entire composition is full of pathos and poise. George Michael has truly given his heart to it. And to top it up, this is one of the most meaningful music videos I have ever seen.

I’m glad to be 14 and say the same, my mum has been a big fan since the start of Wham! And as a baby it was the music I danced in my baby bouncer too. I can say how great full I am to enjoy wham! And George since all the people my age would just say who is that while listening to horrible music.

Y ahora la pregunta de rigor, corazones: who' s still listening this song in november 2024?

George Michael definitely had Soul.
He was a god, no one can ever replace him.
God is God and He is the only One.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 KJV
He wasn't a god but he had god given talents that endeared him to our hearts :)
The older I get the more I appreciate that I got to grow up hearing songs from the 80s
Same. Class of 91 here.
me too, going back now and finding all these masterpieces that during the 80s were there, but kinda fell between the cracks cuz we were bombarded with such greatness.
Makes me appreciate the '80s and the time that we grew up in esp the music. I just wish I would have slowed down and not wanted to grow up so fast. Can't believe the stuff my daughter listens to nowadays actually passes for music 🎶
Todays music sux!
Same here. Still love the 80's music, videos and movies.
My wife and I love George Michael’s music. This song was our wedding song. It stands for the deep passionate love we have towards each other!! Thank you George for this timeless classic!
My old man used to love George Michael. Rip dad
Great song for a wedding. This song has so much emotion in it. God bless you both.
This was your wedding song? lol I think you may have missed the meaning of the song all together.

Love his music ❤
I always tear up when he sings "So when you remember the ones who have lied, who said that they cared but then laughed as you cried, Beautiful darling, don't think of me because all I ever wanted... it's in your eyes" 😭
And the intensity, the melody when he sings it...
😭😭😭😭😭

Hey buddy, same for me as well. ever since the song came out. With time (age) I've come to really appreciate how great a talent GM was even while I don't care for some of his music, some of it is simply brilliant; Father Figure being tops.
The best singer in the world. It is a great loss to the world that you and Michael Jackson are gone.

I'm sorry.
The music of that era is unrepeatable, it's hypnotic!
Hi Hanna, how are you doing today
Facts 100%❤
Seriously. I was in my teens in the late 80s and there's nothing remotely like this on the airwaves these days. Hell, at this point you practically can't have a hit if you don't use autotune. This time was a rare moment when just about any sound could be heard on the radio.
He’s very talented. Let’s leave his personal life out of it.
His personal life has nothing to do with this song and it's none of our business.
Amen
Thank you for saying that!
Couldn't have put it better!
All of us girls fell in love with George before we found out he was gay

The 80s were an era of miracles and magic. This music will span the ages for how insanely good it is. George Michael will live in our hearts and minds for centuries to come.
RIP George You Are 😍 Loved

an era of miracles where the government refused to research aids because it was effecting gay people more
Greatest talent that ever lived ❤love u George memories of u r eternal.ul live in r hearts forever ❤ ❤ ❤.absolute legend 🥰
Man I miss George Michael! This is probably the sexiest song ever sung. RIP.
❤

Agreed!
Well said.I remember.
Genius
Well said, and at the time I thought this type of beautiful music was going to last forever

Masterpiece

Chris Stevens Indeed it is!! We have lost so many great people this year. Thankful for real musicians like George because this crap now a days sucks lol I miss the 80's. :-(
Vlad Villard Yes, OUR. I am listening to WHAM now. "Wake me up before you go-go......." So sad.
