Well, when you can literally snap your fingers and turn a gay man straight, or a straight woman gay it's easier to be confident with your sexuality. She was absolutely sublime, with irresistible sex appeal, and extremely talented as well.
fun fact: this video was banned on MTV. What did Madonna do in response? She released this video as a single and it went x4 platinum. Pure genius (whoever came up with it).
I saw the premiere of this video. Kurt Loder introduced it with a warning on MTV. I believe they only played it that one time and it was at midnight when they did so. I thought it was so ahead of it’s time. Looking at it nearly 30 years later is so jarring. It holds up so well and is basically a timeless piece of art. So well done. Yes, I did buy the vhs single. $9.99. Lol.
I still have my copy that I bought! I remember the controversy over the video and how MTV would not play it. She made a lot of money by selling the video on tape. Very shrewd business move!
I hate that people are blaming Madonna for what Tony did, it happened way before he was dating her and way after they broke up. Madonna has nothing to do with this man. Stop attacking females like Madonna, Nicki and Katy and don't let the men get away with it
Madonna ALWAYS pushed the boundaries, was always controversial, always unapologetic, always an advocate for human/social rights .. She walked the walk, as women she taught us to be fearless. Her music is still amazing 40 years on. Madonna deserves SO much more respect than she gets ... LONG LIVE THE QUEEN OF POP 👑👠💋

Justify My Love and Erotica go side by side: Two incredibly sensual/liberating songs/videos that gave the middle finger to the world (if you didn't like it). And those who did, couldn't get enough.
I'm 100% certain that Madonna being the pop legend that she is, is 100 times more badass than all the stupid metal acts you listen to. And at least you like ONE song by Madonna - on the other hand, I found all metal songs to complete crap, NOT EVEN ONE is good. 😂

@@prophetmadonna3744 Rain was released as a single, it went Top 10 in the UK and #14 in America which was great considering at the time she was being boycotted due to the backlash of the Sex book
ross The whole boycott and backlash, no one heard of it in Madagascar, Paraguay, New Caledonia, Latvia, Angola, and Uruguay. This mysterious era only became known because Fans love to keep recycling and recyling trivia. Madonna is very sick of her old fans from America. Madonna gave us the 90s sound with this 1990 song but also starting from 1989 with Express Yourself and later with 1990 Vogue which introduced the trend of House music in the mainstream. She doesn't get enough credit.
@@wmpetroff2307 I agree, no wonder she is known as The Boss and also, I think that she was one of the first artists that set the trend for future female artists that went on to become solo artists after being part of a girl group or pop band. In 1990, as a businesswoman, Madonna became the 1st female entrepreneur ever to appear on a Forbes cover. It's an even more impressive achievement considering that just 8 years earlier, she was unknown, surviving in NYC living in a hotel in a dangerous part of town.
I remember when “JML” came out. I was living in Brazil, and we could watch it all the time on MTV. We loved the video there, it wasn’t a big deal for us. America so scared of sex, but not scared of guns. This video is a masterpiece from Madonna.
She did great songs, great albums, great videos and great shows singing about sex, religion, family and politics, lifting Pop music to a higher e respected level that it has now. Her music changed the People values and their behavior, specially about themes like sexual freedom and female empowerment, something not allowed to women talk when she became famous in the middle of the 80's. That's a fact. You agree or not about it, it makes no diference. So keep on laughing. We do too.
Teached to the world (and especially the gay community which was getting a lot of hate back then) how to not give a single shit for what people think about you. Not giving a shit makes your life a lot better, trust me.
Was. Looking at her back catalogue I completely get why she became this big, with a batch of top-notch singles/videos and even underrated gems like Bedtime Stories. But thinking that the same woman, once so influential, is now serving us ill-advised cuts like Give Me All Your Lovin and Bitch I'm Madonna (ugghh), it kinda hurts. Hard Candy, who everyone seems to take a dump on, was the last bright installment of a thus-far faultless career. When MDNA dropped I gave up.
This video is truly an epic piece of art and stunning 30+ years later. As a millennial listener I can honestly say 90s Madonna was truly 🔥 and her greatest and most groundbreaking decade of music sonically and visually. Vogue, Blond Ambition Tour, Truth or Dare, JML, Rescue Me, the Erotica Album, Girlie Show Tour. I’ll Remember, Bedtime Stories album, (some of Evita), Ray of Light album (her true masterpiece) and Beautiful Stranger…Gen Z is truly sleeping on her brilliance and have no clue how 90s Madonna influenced all their favs today.

Unfortunately, this obsession with youth makes her look ridiculous. it has lost this exemplary function and the divine. she could age beautifully and in style like Sharon Stone, for example. Madonna ended her career herself. She can't dance like she used to, which is normal at her age. But she doesn't want to admit it, seems tense on stage and you almost feel sorry for her. At Madonna's best times, she would never be that bad on stage. think of the last appearance with Maluma(horror). Pride, I was ashamed of Madonna.

The original newscaster, Sam Donaldson refused to go on and Sam Sawyer took his place . Why? Because MADONNA KNOCKED THE WAR OFF THE AIRWAVES WITH THIS VIDEO AND WAS GOING TO BE INTERVIEWED AND THE VIDEO WAS GOING TO BE SHOWN. The whole half hour was devoted to her and this video. Madonna’s comfort and bravery with her sexuality is inspiring.
Well, when you can literally snap your fingers and turn a gay man straight, or a straight woman gay it's easier to be confident with your sexuality. She was absolutely sublime, with irresistible sex appeal, and extremely talented as well.

Exactly!
What did she do? lol

I just think it's a pity that Madonna is trying to be young and that sometimes seems ridiculous.
