I’m currently 17 who’s just barely getting into Madonna’s work and I have to say that this song is truly amazing. It makes me feel nostalgic for a time I wasn’t born in. I only wish I was born sooner to experience the music that came out during this time. This song has been stuck on repeat and now has become my favorite Madonna song of all time.
I'm 21 (was around 17 when I officially started to listen to her) and trust me you won't regret listening to Madonna's entire catalog. The best discography for a female artist (or any artist) EVER.
It's a great song. But you will discover so many, many more great songs are out there, I promise. Great music is timeless, and the 1990s are just one decade of so very many,
I was born in 1980, so I don't remember a time without Madonna! This has always been one of my favorite songs by her, but album wise, True Blue will always be my number one.
This is Madonna's best song ever in my opinion. The lyrics are so deep that represents everyone's heart which has been broken 💔 😢. A truly wonderful goddess ❤️

The greatest Madonna Ballad! And her longest number 1 for seven weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100!!! I'm still obsessed with this song and the music video is just so beautiful!!!
Babyface had a huge part in this.❤❤ I hear him singing in the background. He was great at writing ballads 🙌🏽 Love Madonna also, grew up listening to both of them🎉
This is the most visually stimulating video of all times . For me the symbolism ,abstract and subliminal messages go far beyond the sublime. Life , happiness. death, pain and sadness. Everyone is all about 80s Madonna but 90s Madonna IS REALLY her peak. This song is still her biggest hit single in the US, spending 7 weeks at #1 in 1995. samuel osler Yes finally, I've always thought it is her best decade, the most versatile and different from everything she had done before, i love 90's Madonna!

It played at the end of the episode, when Rachel is waiting for Ros in the airport. I instantly recognised the melody and felt some kind of a nostalgic feeling. They both wrote and produced it, so not only is the author Babyface, first appears her name "Madonna" from the song's credits; So Madonna also takes credit for this issue, not only babyface and I know it because I have it on the album.
+Diego Costa Madonna never hid that the cinema is one of her huge influences, for more, being an actress & filmmaker. Express Yourself video is one example. Several filmmakers have already been called to collaborate on her music videos as James Foley & David Fincher
Madonna is responsible for the way "Take a Bow" turned out. She cowrote and coproduced it, and the beautiful, Asian-inspired orchestrations were HER idea, not his. Babyface had never worked with a live orchestra prior to the production of this song.
+Jennifer Brigitte (Optical Vortex), Madonna is not Celine or Whitney and she does not intend to be. She has other priorities and does not come down to a singer.
Rita, it is definitely a timeless song. I was born in the end of the 90's, but it seems I will get older listening to it. One time or another, we will always have to say goodbye.
Never knew Babyface was involved in this song until recently. Listening to it again after so many years, you could definitely hear him, but also that signature production sound of his earlier, nineties era smooth jams that made hit after hit.
Her ballads showcase her best work in terms of emotional expression, melancholy tone, melodic rhythm, soul searching lyrics...so when these elements were put together into a song, the best outcome ever!!!
My stepdad who was like a father to me used to love Madonna, and especially this song. Whenever I miss him, I come back to this song. Wherever you are, Your daughter misses you so much
I agree. There's no substance to their music videos it's all just half naked women throwing around money and with the white girls in the background the black guys in the front ground thinking they're all that it's there's no talent
Through the magic of Babyface this deservingly so became her longest running #1 at 7 weeks. Using the pentatonic scale and Asian Dorian mode in the string arrangement it reminds me how sophisticated and beautiful Pop music can be. I'm fortunate to have grown up in this era. The 90s showcased artists at their best. This is beautiful art. simply put.
Gabriel, you've dropped a little gem here. i had no idea what the pentatonic scale. Babyface had the entire decade on lock. People would just see his tiny signature on the back of a CD and just grab regardless of who was on the cover.
Most people know Madonna as a dance artist, but she doesn't get nearly enough credit for creating some of the most beautiful and iconic ballads of the 20th AND 21st centuries. This song and video are a perfect example. See Also: Live to Tell, Rain, Crazy for You, I'll Remember, Frozen, You'll See, This Used to be My Playground ..... and the list goes on and on and on and on. Thank You Madonna, for ALL of your masterful contributions to music and culture.
She really doesnt. Live to tell, Crazy for you, Take a bow, Rain, I’ll remember, This used to he my playground, Frozen, etc. Theres way too many good ones.😊
One of madonna's most beautiful songs. You completely feel and relate to the heartbreak. How can a song be so sad yet so beautiful? And baby face's voice is the perfect touch. ❤
This for me is the most beautiful song by Madonna, it perfectly mixes love, sensuality, masculine gallantry, melancholy, beauty, romanticism and all the bittersweet things of love. Her beautifully youthful face gives the finishing touch to that jewel called "Take a bow".
This is the first ever Madonna video remastered in 4K, what a major reason for celebration!!! Hope to see more of her masterpieces in 4K, including Rain, Vogue, Don’t Tell Me, Bad Girl, Ray of Light, Like a Prayer and Express Yourself, I want You, You’ll See, Power of Goodbye and Fever 🔥 😍
In this beautiful song that she gave her madonan, it was as if she believed that everything would be love and that love, heart and honor will always be with us.
Yes, If we manage to avoid looking at the poor bull dying, especially at the end. Maybe if Hispanics had actually been able to win a real war against the white "gringos" at any time in the last 400+ years, they wouldn't have to take it out on the poor bulls. But from the time of the Spanish Armada through Trafalgar up to the more recent Falklands War, they have gotten completely clobbered by whitey in a fair fight. That's gotta bother them.
STILL listening and loving this song in 2022 and on and on. Madonna and Babyface equals PERFECTION. This song is TIMELESS and will never go away. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
@@josuegonzalez9100 . In my opinion, for what it's worth, Madonna's second greatest song is "Live To Tell" followed by "This Used To Be My Playground" and "Crazy For You".
One of Madonna's most beautiful videos and ballads. But then again, how could she go wrong with one of the best ballad R&B singers, *Babyface* , (Kenneth Edmonds) co-writing this and smooth vocals flowing in the background??? 🥰
In this beautiful song that she gave her madonan, it was as if she believed that everything would be love and that love, heart and honor will always be with us.
Omg I haven't watched this since I was a kid. I came because it crossed my mind and thinking is that baby face. Didn't realize way back then. Just loved the Madonna "bullfighting" video
It was already written by him before madonna came along and had it laying around in his studio. He couldn't get anyone to sing it or didn't know who to give it to, then Madonna picked it up, brush it up, made it better with orchestral arrangement and viola.
Richard I agree. This is a great song. The melody/subject matter/production is spot on! It's amazing to remember that this is the quality of contemporary music the "teenagers and college age students" were listening to back in 1994. This was on the Billboard charts and on commercial radio everywhere! Ahhh! How the standards of contemporary music have fallen. Enjoy! Cheers, Sam.
Words can't describe how amazing this song is. I can't fathom how underrated and overlooked the 'Bedtime Stories' album really is and how rarely she performs this song anymore. I don't understand why though when she and Babyface created such a beautiful masterpiece.
I was just thinking this same thing. I'm not your typical Madonna fan but I've loved this song for years and just dove into it again the other day and I can't escape it. Such beauty... Babyface's vocals just kill me
totally agree! this song is powerful and really shows off her range. i mean this song speaks to me right now in so many ways! thats how you know a song is a work of art!
+carlossb Agree on both counts. Other than their AMA live performance together, she could never do a live version with anyone other than Babyface that would do the song justice.
bruh my mom was literally in the studio while madonna recorded this, Music Grinder studios madonna kept getting calls and my mom told her every time when someone was calling. she got an autograph ("to angela love, madonna") and still has the sheet of lyrics madonna was reading off of for the recording (madonna had cut and taped the lyrics together) I just think that's so cool.
I would have fainted! I am 47 years old, and was in college when this song and album came out. I worked at a record store during college, and I played this CD from beginning to end during my shifts! I loved Madonna ever since her debut album, and bought every single album she released, until "Music," and then she just started losing her touch. But, if I was in the same studio as her when she was recording this album, I would totally be stalking her, waiting to ask for an autograph and picture with her!
In this beautiful song that she gave her madonan, it was as if she believed that everything would be love and that love, heart and honor will always be with us.
"I don't believe anyone who's worked with Madonna would've made a great Madonna song if she hadn't been involved as a writer and producer. We wrote it together. We each brought lyrics and melodies, singing them back and forth. She also brought in the arranger for the strings, which sound amazing." -Babyface about the Queen of Pop, who's talents are often discredited, 2022
Ghosttown or those videos in 2019 could not be compared to Take A Bow, the artistry here is phenomenal. Even the production price is not comparable, record companies simply don’t invest in music videos nowadays. Not to mention Madonna is no longer the current top 10 selling artists. Resources won’t be allocated to her.
I heard this song for the 1st time, I think 5 years ago, and has been part of my playlist, but this is the first time I saw the MV because I didn't know this has one. *_The MV looks expensive, and Madonna looks so beautiful here_*
STUNNING STUNNING STUNNING Her voice, her looks, the drama, the heartbreak, the beauty of it all, the cinematic feel, the music, the lyrics. This was an instant classic. You'll See is a close second ❤️❤️❤️
I agree. I know young artists work hard, but hits are now just about partying or meant to be played at clubs for young people to dance and under an intense market economy. Not about feelings and smart lyrics. Or maybe young market isn't in that part of life where you have that mindset.
I love this song so much, Madonna's voice is so beautiful and she looks so gorgeous in this video. I have been a Madonna fan for 37 yrs. Madonna is the Queen!!👑✨

Life was so great for me in the early 80's. Cruising in my car and listening to so many great artists on the radio. Madonna was one of them. She also grew up very near to where I did.
In this beautiful song that she gave her madonan, it was as if she believed that everything would be love and that love, heart and honor will always be with us.
I haven't heard this in years. This video was on an endless repeat on MTV Europe in late 1994/'95. I was too young to understand what it was about back then. I never appreciated what a pleasant ballad it is. I love these ultra-stylish '90s videos. And how beautiful was Madonna back then....
It's hard to pick a favourite Madonna ballad, but this one is a very strong contender. Co-written with the amazing Babyface, whose unmistakable background vocals complement her voice beautifully. One of her masterpieces.
Brent Crude you are so right... Live to Tell, Take a Bow, Masterpiece, The Look of Love, Oh Father, Crazy for You, Gone, Miles Away, Messiah, Love Tried to Welcome Me... I just cannot choose only one.
It is a midtempo pop ballad written and produced by Madonna and Babyface. "Take a Bow" was developed from this collaboration, after Madonna listened to the beat and the chords of the demo structure of the song. The singer's management called Babyface to set up a meeting and see if they wanted to work together. Once met, both were surprised by their camaraderie and wanted to write songs. Madonna came over to Babyface's house and after a couple of days they came up with two songs. One of them was based on a piece of music composed by Babyface, but he was not sure about its musical direction. He made Madonna listen to the composition, and she found a way to take the song forward.Babyface clarified that "it was just a beat and the chords. From there we collaborated and built it up... I was living in Beverly Hills and I created a little studio in my house, so she came over there to write."] Together they agreed that the first line of the song should be its title, and "Take a Bow" was written. The words were never repeated in the track again.
Probably one of her greatest songs ever.

Co-written and sang by Queen Madonna 😍
"how was I to know you'd break my heart... I've always been in love with you" Madonna and babyface did there thing. my favorite Madonna song ever
People talk shit that Madonna can't sing. Her voice is not like Celine or Whitney but it's so powerfully emotive.
Rita Johnson mine to back in the 90's
Amazing how many hits she's had over time. She literally has dozens of them.
yes she does and it's great music not subpar shit like beyonce, christina, adele, and other artists
Thats why she's the queen of pop, what she became by hardwork
Lots of hits that became classics.

There are many treasures in her music.

Madonna's best songs in my opinion are her ballards. This is one is my fave. Her voice is amazing on this track.
Her ballads showcase her best work in terms of emotional expression, melancholy tone, melodic rhythm, soul searching lyrics...so when these elements were put together into a song, the best outcome ever!!!

the Venetian in Las Vegas, the Hotel, surwe, why not?
Super agree!!!
This song is so so relaxing and beautiful
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The 90s were everything and more. You put it so beautifully. 👌🏾🎶
The greatest most significantly cherished masterpiece of lasting perfection and extreme brilliance from the queen of popular music Madonna .
She admired Karen Carpenter and with her movie ballads she kept in her mid-range voice, and was very successful with it.
Also Secret and
Power of Goodbye
One of madonna's most beautiful songs. You completely feel and relate to the heartbreak. How can a song be so sad yet so beautiful? And baby face's voice is the perfect touch. ❤
This for me is the most beautiful song by Madonna, it perfectly mixes love, sensuality, masculine gallantry, melancholy, beauty, romanticism and all the bittersweet things of love. Her beautifully youthful face gives the finishing touch to that jewel called "Take a bow".

Yes, If we manage to avoid looking at the poor bull dying, especially at the end. Maybe if Hispanics had actually been able to win a real war against the white "gringos" at any time in the last 400+ years, they wouldn't have to take it out on the poor bulls. You're wrong about Madonna.
You didn't saw Madonna's 2019 music videos as Batuka, Dark Ballet and God Control
Also her video for Ghosttown in 2015 has a similar feel to this one

Wish you well, I cannot stay
You deserve an award for the role that you played (role that you played)
No more masquerade, you're one lonely star

I've always been in love with you (always with you)
I guess you've always known it's true (you know it's true)
You took my love for granted, why oh why
The show is over, say goodbye
Say goodbye (bye bye), say goodbye
All the world is a stage (world is a stage)
And everyone has their part (has their part)
But how was I to know which way the story'd go
How was I to know you'd break
(You'd break, you'd break, you'd break)
You'd break my heart
I've always been in love with you
(I've always been in love with you)
Guess you've always known
You took my love for granted, why oh why

I haven't heard this in years. This video was on an endless repeat on MTV Europe in late 1994/'95. I was too young to understand what it was about back then. I never appreciated what a pleasant ballad it is. I love these ultra-stylish '90s videos. And how beautiful was Madonna back then....
It's hard to pick a favourite Madonna ballad, but this one is a very strong contender. Co-written with the amazing Babyface, whose unmistakable background vocals complement her voice beautifully. One of her masterpieces.
Brent Crude it is extremely hard. But if I had to pick , its probably this one
Babyface had composed the musical framework before Madonna contacted him through her managers.
