Just mounted the Road 5s myself today coming off of road 4s. They completely transformed my heavy 580lbs sport touring bike into feeling like a 600super sport. Granted the PR4s were well worn, but these tires are nothing short of amazing. With the slightest input from the bar, the bike just dives into a corner. It startled me at first and I found myself applying pressure to the other bar to keep it from diving too deep. Love them the more I get used to the aggressive handling characteristics.

Well your loosing grip then! If you bought a tire closer to the riding your doing you would get more grip! Race tires suck on the road especially in rain! Try a Michelin road 4-5 best tire for the riding your doing but they are high! Dunlop probably next best for all around! Get a Q3 plus and thank me later! But only if it’s way cheaper then the Michelin! What you are looking for is mechanical grip to wet cold pavement they do that the best!
Unsure of your review on the cruiser and touring tires - was this Lemmy approved? Also with that, last year I put a pair of Dunlap American Elites instead of the D402's that harley used on my 2005 Electra Glide. I like the wearing but did note that there is a slight less traction in rain - slid in an area I did not with previous tires.
My Honda CB500F stock Dunlop sport max has done over 23000 km, only the rear tire looks worn, front tire looks still very good. I just ordered a pair of road 5 to replace both of them anyway.
I just bought a set of the Bridgestone battle axe A41's for my VStrom DL 1000, can't wait to try them out as soon as the weather starts cooperating in Michigan!
Rear Road 5 in my MT07 only did 13500km Front have 20000km and it still have plenty rubber left. The rear tire could be harder on the middle and more softer in the edge and it would be perfect
My Road 5 last for 35k km (rear tyre) on my versys650..mind you, i rode my bike daily in weekdays for 250km a day...only down side is this tyre is most expensive (atleast here in malaysia) and for now, i’ve been told there is no new stock available thus i’ve to opt for other brand tyre... Dear michellin, if you happen to read this, pls look at the stock availability in my country.
Thanks for the great effort. Enough details for me. Love to get the supercosa coz I literally attack corners .. usually diving into it .. as a comeback beginner Dad. But the motorcycle dealer which I frequent seems to promo Battlax S22 to me. Well, that add to my 7th set of battlaxes in just 2 years. Yes, for all our 3 bikes. 2 years ago we bought a second er6n as to upgrade our biking thrills. It came with Metzelers. In one of our rides, my son tested it to its limit and its front end slipped. Could it be anything to do with an aged 'new' tire? Please analyse it as I've recorded it in this video titled: "er6n down. Nothing else matters but my son."
Abdul Hakim bin Ahmad yeah S22’s are much better than road 5. I’m a huge fan of Conti road attack 3 as well. I traded my bike in after I put the road 5 on. Yuk on that tire. Who rides sporty in the rain on the street anyway? Not many bikers I know
I like my s22s even better than the set of s21 I changed out after about 8k very happy miles last year. Never felt the need for the road 5s, even in Washington state.
Sam C that’s where I am. Lol. I rode them one time in the rain and thought yeah the 5’s are nice but any other time I didn’t want them on the bike anymore
Anyone have an opinion on Shinko 777 just ordered a set for my 04 VTX with reflective side-wall I know they say low miles but high grip and being seen are higher on my list than milage. Keep the shinny side up.
Road 5s are SO GOOD. You def need a set for how much rain you get where you are. I have them on my Versys650 so I know they will be great on your Z650.

having worked in the Automotive tire industry for over 19 years it still freaks me out when i look at a lot of these front tires on motorcycles and they look like they were MOUNTED BACKWARDS.
Let's talk sport touring tires. I've tried quite a few and let's face it, they're ALL great at handling, wet weather, stickiness, etc... the big difference is longevity. All makers claim good mileage but I've never been able to break the 10,000 mile mark until the Michelin Road 5; I just ticked past 9,000 miles and the tread looks to have several more thousend in it.
@@jamesjensen4696 So you think I've never tried different tires?? I ride a lot of miles, on a lot of bikes, in a lot of conditions, on a lot of tires. Name a brand and I've tried them. Maybe you're the one who doesn't understand.
I’m fixing to buy a Ninja 1000 sport touring bike and I’m gonna want some long lasting harder rubber for the highway but enough performance to ride in rain and stop the thing! I guess it will be the road 5’s for me!
go for the michelin if u dont corner to hard and if you corner alot go for the angel GT2's cause my sides my road 5 is so much more run down then the rest cause of cornering hard. it more or less falls into the corner if im at a lean where the softer rubber is xD
I’m pulling two bikes out of my garage this summer The 76 CJ 360T I haven’t ridden in, oh, 20 years? The Virago 250 I has been sitting five years I’m looking for tire suggestions. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so temperate with occasional light showers. I won’t be doing winter riding, just warm weather street and some highway Assuming I can get these toys running, I’m looking for tire recommendations. I’m willing to spend more for grip and safety Appreciate it, thanks
It’s an older tire now, but love the Dunlop RoadSmart 2’s I had installed on my BMW R nineT this summer. Great grip and I’m getting good tread life from them. Bonus is they weren’t that much more expensive than the RoadSports, which will not last as long.
this year i tried a set of power RS on my 16 duke. Couple of track days, commute and caynon carving (between 9 and 42°C) after exactly 6343 Km there is still plenty of rubber. Grip and feel were preety good for me and im not particularly slow. They were on my 2016's 690 duke. Allready ridden the rosso corsa (not impress) and the power 2ct (actually on my yamaha xj6, bang for the buck)
Every Pirelli I've had died early to road debris. They handle well because they're light from not having much material in them, which makes them fragile.
Only Shinkos for me since they started making the SR880/881 radials in 130/60-16 and 160/60-16 sizes to fit my Ducati Paso. Eleven other bikes in my garage that now get Shinkos because of that.
Dudes! What about the Mitas E-07+ for adventure riding? I love them on my DL1000, have never found a tire to beat them in grip on/off road and longevity.
Bought a ZX10R last fall and when the tires needs to be changed, I´m actually gonna put Michelin Road 5 on it :) Living in an area where rain comes and goes quickly, I don´t wanna get caught in bad weather with any other tyre.. I´ve tried Michelin Pilot Road 4 on the bike I had before (A ZRX1200S) and the had plenty of grip for normal/sporty road use imo. The improved 5´s is judt a perfect upgrade with the improved traction at hard leaning-angles, in dry weather.
i normally use the road 5, but for my current set i gave the power 5 a try. they seem squishier than the road 5. i've never done a track day, so maybe that's just a sign that they would have better grip going around a track at 100+, but for me they just feel squishy at low speeds when braking and cornering. also, they make noise from the little mold hairs. the road 5 does not have the mold hairs. i've got somewhere around 4-5k miles, and with any lean angle at all i can still hear the hairs striking the road at city street speeds. and sometimes when the wind is with me, even at highway speeds i can sometimes hear them. so anyway; i only ride street, but i ride very aggressively... i don't see a difference in dry grip, so i see no reason to compromise wet grip and longevity. the only reason i gave them a try was because i got them on a huge discount. my next and consecutive sets will be the road 5. theoretically, the power 5 should be better on track than the road 5, and msrp reflects that. but i would suspect they're not as good as RevZilla's top pick for the track, which is also probably more expensive. i haven't looked into track stuff though, so that's just conjecture. if you never, or rarely, do track days; there's no reason to use anything but the road 5, in my opinion. although, if i did track days at all, even rarely, i think i would have a set of tires specifically for that. if you're going to do it, do it right!
@@thinkdunson I ran Road 5s on my older street triple and loved them and got excellent mileage and currently run it on my 2020 street in the rear. I thought about running the power 5 in the front just for more grip but I think I'm going to stick to the road 5s. I did notice my rear slipping out and my TC light coming on when super aggressive with my road 5 rear but that might be due to throttling to early, wrong pressures, or suspension setup
I will buy supercorsa sp, but can you explain to me what is V2 V3 I dont see that models on official pirelli site, only supercosa sp or sc. Also can you explain what is the difference between supercorsa sp sc1 and sc2? Thanks in advance.
Michelin Commander II best cruiser tyres? They last okay but are slippery as hell - particularly in the wet. Avon Cobras piss on them and are cheaper too.

Hard sell man. I got a set of Pirelli Angel ST's from you guys for only $201 for the set. Considering they were one of the best sport touring tires a few years ago I'm cool with that.
@@mt09madness Do they also warm up faster than the bridgestone battlax? For me warming up quickly is the most important thing, since I mostly do 30-40 minute short rides, so I need grip quickly.
Currently on 14k miles on the road 5, just about starting to get level with wear markers, i was thinking about replacing them with another set of road 5s however the new power 5s look promising as a bit sportier, bit less wet (but still very good in the wet, just not road 5 level) option for light track usage
@@AntaresSQ01 impressive mileage for a bike that powerful. Lots of 600cc's I know eat tires in 5k miles which would be a new set of tires every 2-3 months for me. I thought 20k miles was the norm for motorcycle tires until I went to cycle gear and they didn't believe I had that many miles on a set of rosso 2's lol.
@@austina4189 yea I'm genuinely impressed too, it's not like i was pampering them either, i have the tendency to open up every straight I see, done a lit of motorway miles and even a couple trackdays on them, i think it was down to wearing them evenly, in twisties you're on the side of the tire and the middle barely wears, on the motorway the middle wears but the edges don't
Both have excellent dry and wet performance. The Pirellis have a steeper profile for a bit quicker turn-in, while the Michelins have a slightly rounder profile for more linear turn-in. -DrewZilla *bit.ly/BestTires2020
Tossing up between the Michelin Road 5 or stay with the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II for my 2013 R1200GS. Your thoughts guys? I do a heap of road touring with only about 5% to 10% gravel roads.
Hey Brett, To me it all comes down to how often you ride in the rain. The Road 5 is really the best tire going for on-road wet weather grip. So if you're a commuter based in the Pacific North West then that's the way to go. That said, our own Joe Zito did the MABDR (www.ridebdr.com/mabdr) on the Trail II's last year and had nothing but good things to say about their street performance, and also said they did admirably in the dirt though they left something to be desired in the mud. I hope that helps lay out their strengths and weaknesses and helps you decede! -Zack
RevZilla Hey Zack, thanks for the reply!! Been doing some research and I reckon I’ll stick with the Pirelli Scorpions. Here in Australia I’m doing a lot of road touring but will venture onto some more unsealed gravel trails. Looking forward in more off-road adventures! Keep up the good work there!

Road 5 is comparable. I have the 4s on my ninja and 5s on my Street triple. I find the road 5s are more rigid when leaning over to the shoulder which takes a few hard corners to get used to. It seems to have more edge grip as doesn't struggle as much on track days powering out of corners. I recommend over the 4s
Haven't owned the road 4s but in loving my 5s. I put them on in the middle of winter and haven't had any complaints in the 2k ish miles I've put on them. Fantastic wet grip and better cruising than the pirell adv tires I had on before them.
When you've reached about 75%-80% use on the fives, they perform the same as the fours in the wet, so fives are great in the wet. They are dual compound so soft on the side and hard in the middle. Best tyres out there for the street. I've done around 5000km and they don't look worn at all.
@@andrewvalentin6257 I got 10k from road 3s until needed replacing (the front tyre edges wears out quicker than the middle!), I have done 8k on the road 4s and they have plenty meat left and wear even. I have only done 5k on the road 5s but have not squared yet look like loads of life left
I've really been liking the Mitas MC23 Rockrider on my KTM 690 Enduro. Preferred them to the E-07 Dakar, which I think are better for heavier ADV bikes.

Any thoughts on Shinko 777 ?
Dunlop 401 tires dont last on my Harrley.
They might get 7,000 miles. Maybe.
I'm ready to try something better.
How about Pirelli Angel GT2
On the charts they are better than the Road 5'...but less popular because of the price I guess
Im very interested in this too, because I gotta choose between GT2 and Road5
@@e.e9331 honestly if you drive agressivlly sometimes go for the GT2 :)
@@e.e9331 i have them on my Fz1 fazer and they are the best i ever had.. But didnt try road 5 yet
@@robinmaurer2645 Would you say GT2s are good for wet road conditions? Here in Montreal It rains time to time even in summer.
I did 22.000 km with Michelin PR5's love them
I just bought a set of the Bridgestone battle axe A41's for my VStrom DL 1000, can't wait to try them out as soon as the weather starts cooperating in Michigan!
The Michelin Road 5 Trail works great on my V Strom.
Len Laskowski Compare with A41, what is more impressive you for Road 5?
Thinking too to change on R5T, have you tested it on gravel? I know it’s only street, but some times you have to ride a little bit „off road“.
Still use the Michelin road pilot two on my CBR 600. Last about 9000 miles and does everything I need it to do
Rear Road 5 in my MT07 only did 13500km
Front have 20000km and it still have plenty rubber left.
The rear tire could be harder on the middle and more softer in the edge and it would be perfect
Any 2021 version soon?
My Road 5 last for 35k km (rear tyre) on my versys650..mind you, i rode my bike daily in weekdays for 250km a day...only down side is this tyre is most expensive (atleast here in malaysia) and for now, i’ve been told there is no new stock available thus i’ve to opt for other brand tyre...
Dear michellin, if you happen to read this, pls look at the stock availability in my country.
Hanifah Omar maybe you can try ur luck in thailand or singapore
Road 5s on my VTR 1000, yup Superhawk,
love them. Thanks guys!
A firestorm?
Q3+ or m9rr?? Mostly for canyon riding in mostly dry road conditions.
no bridgestone S22??
and the michelin road 5 came out 1 year ago
Steveness stiffler wrong
@Steveness stiffler u must be dreaming
Anyone have an opinion on Shinko 777 just ordered a set for my 04 VTX with reflective side-wall I know they say low miles but high grip and being seen are higher on my list than milage.
Keep the shinny side up.
Sport touring tyre 🥰
Road 5s are SO GOOD. You def need a set for how much rain you get where you are. I have them on my Versys650 so I know they will be great on your Z650.
always love the ways you guys teach us!

Anything about enduro/dual sport tires?
It all depends on your bike and the conditions you're riding. Feel free to reach out to a Gear Geek to get the right option for your situation. 877-792-9455, cs@revzill.com, or our on-site Live Chat. -DrewZilla
having worked in the Automotive tire industry for over 19 years it still freaks me out when i look at a lot of these front tires on motorcycles and they look like they were MOUNTED BACKWARDS.
For adventure, what about the Metzeler Sahara?
Good to see the Bridgestone Battlax makng the cut; a great family of tires, usually at a great price, and that doesn't get the accolades it deserves.
Battlax suck get a better tire you’ll understand what I’m saying.theyre cheaper cuz u get what u pay for
@@jamesjensen4696 So you think I've never tried different tires?? I ride a lot of miles, on a lot of bikes, in a lot of conditions, on a lot of tires. Name a brand and I've tried them. Maybe you're the one who doesn't understand.
I’m fixing to buy a Ninja 1000 sport touring bike and I’m gonna want some long lasting harder rubber for the highway but enough performance to ride in rain and stop the thing! I guess it will be the road 5’s for me!
Hi guus, isn”t the sidewall too soft for the ax41. I heard quite a few slashed tyre walls and rim damage…. Not sire if they were aired down or not…
Pirelli Angel GT2 or Michelin Road5? Its for "aggressive" road touring on a VFR800. I prefer Stability and better braking performance over longevity.
I run the angel GT2 on my GSXF1000 love them
go for the michelin if u dont corner to hard and if you corner alot go for the angel GT2's cause my sides my road 5 is so much more run down then the rest cause of cornering hard.
it more or less falls into the corner if im at a lean where the softer rubber is xD
Metzeler is what's on Honda vtx1300 I love those tires I have had 3 sets of them so far over 12 years
I’m pulling two bikes out of my garage this summer
The 76 CJ 360T I haven’t ridden in, oh, 20 years?
The Virago 250 I has been sitting five years
I’m looking for tire suggestions. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so temperate with occasional light showers. I won’t be doing winter riding, just warm weather street and some highway
Assuming I can get these toys running, I’m looking for tire recommendations. I’m willing to spend more for grip and safety
Appreciate it, thanks
Top notch, guys. Top notch! Revzilla = automatic thumbs up.
Thanks for the video guys. Y’all are awesome!
Allready ridden the rosso corsa (not impress) and the power 2ct (actually on my yamaha xj6, bang for the buck)
i bought a pair of IRC NR77 and paid less than $100 for front and rear and they work really well
Pirelli Angel gt
Great all round every condition tire.
I've run thro 2 sets , both over 11k miles . Just installed my 3rd.
15' bmw s1000r
Every Pirelli I've had died early to road debris. They handle well because they're light from not having much material in them, which makes them fragile.
Hated pirelli with a passion. Sorry, but they sucked. Greasy and yes, died very early.
Angel Gt 2 or Road 5 ??? I drive only in summer...
Only Shinkos for me since they started making the SR880/881 radials in 130/60-16 and 160/60-16 sizes to fit my Ducati Paso. Eleven other bikes in my garage that now get Shinkos because of that.
im just starting out with a street bike. what is "aggressive" riding?
This is handy information for picking the right tire. Thank you.
Can you suggest me a tyre which can provide good lean angle as well as wet grip ?
What (light) cruiser-suitable front tire has the best grip in dry for spirited riding at high lean angles?
Dudes! What about the Mitas E-07+ for adventure riding? I love them on my DL1000, have never found a tire to beat them in grip on/off road and longevity.
Great tires, which have been featured in previous years' guides. -DrewZilla
What are your thoughts on continental conti motion sport tires?
Where would the Michelin power 5 fit into all of this? I can’t seem to find any reviews on it anywhere.
i normally use the road 5, but for my current set i gave the power 5 a try.
they seem squishier than the road 5. i've never done a track day, so maybe that's just a sign that they would have better grip going around a track at 100+, but for me they just feel squishy at low speeds when braking and cornering.
also, they make noise from the little mold hairs. the road 5 does not have the mold hairs. i've got somewhere around 4-5k miles, and with any lean angle at all i can still hear the hairs striking the road at city street speeds. and sometimes when the wind is with me, even at highway speeds i can sometimes hear them.
so anyway; i only ride street, but i ride very aggressively... i don't see a difference in dry grip, so i see no reason to compromise wet grip and longevity. the only reason i gave them a try was because i got them on a huge discount. my next and consecutive sets will be the road 5.
theoretically, the power 5 should be better on track than the road 5, and msrp reflects that. but i would suspect they're not as good as RevZilla's top pick for the track, which is also probably more expensive. i haven't looked into track stuff though, so that's just conjecture.
if you never, or rarely, do track days; there's no reason to use anything but the road 5, in my opinion. although, if i did track days at all, even rarely, i think i would have a set of tires specifically for that. if you're going to do it, do it right!
Put Power 5's on my zx14r, squishy, noisy, and a speed wobble that comes on at as about 100 mph. Back to the S22's.
@@tpatrick6902 YES... they wobble like crazy above 100. i added more balancing beads, but it didn't help hardly at all.
@@thinkdunson It's not just me. I was wondering. S22's , I dont know. Any suggestions beyond those?

The Metzler Sportec M7 RR is awesome too for shitty, wet and cold roads
Yes a great tyre, I can't wait to try its replacement, the M9 RR.
Avon Cobras piss on them and are cheaper too.
well, for my old girl,,Suzuki Bandit 400 1991,i dont ride aggressively,,just time to time.Dont ride much on rain,,and dont have a big budget what would be your choice?

Hard sell man. I got a set of Pirelli Angel ST's from you guys for only $201 for the set. Considering they were one of the best sport touring tires a few years ago I'm cool with that.
Was this review out before the roadtec 01 se was released?
What about the Cobra Chrome tires? There's no Commander 3's in the sizes I need for the new Softail M8 Fat Boy.
I hear they are good
Cobra Chromes were a top pick in last year's guide, so they're still a great option. -DrewZilla
more mileage means less performance. mileage does not matter on my cruiser only grip what do you recommend
Not really, my road 5s have better mileage and performance than my bridgestones.
@@mt09madness Do they also warm up faster than the bridgestone battlax? For me warming up quickly is the most important thing, since I mostly do 30-40 minute short rides, so I need grip quickly.
Yeah about 10min minimum
@@mt09madness Sounds good! Thanks a lot man :) This is one of those things that reviewers NEVER cover with tires.

What is the best tyre for yamaha R3 for Track day ?
Hey , a big thanks for the good recommendations.
Currently on 14k miles on the road 5, just about starting to get level with wear markers, i was thinking about replacing them with another set of road 5s however the new power 5s look promising as a bit sportier, bit less wet (but still very good in the wet, just not road 5 level) option for light track usage
What kind of bike? I get relatively high mileage out of tires, so just curious
@@austina4189 2011 Ninja 650, it's a pretty heavy and torquey bike so it eats other sportier tires pretty quick

Did you guys test the Pirelli Angel GT 2 tyres and if so where does it compare to the Road 5's?

Tossing up between the Michelin Road 5 or stay with the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II for my 2013 R1200GS. Your thoughts guys? I do a heap of road touring with only about 5% to 10% gravel roads.
Hey Brett,
To me it all comes down to how often you ride in the rain.

I loved my pilot road 4s that I had on my 600RR.. is the road 5 comparable? I’m looking for my street triple. I have pilot powers on it now.
Martin Fleming how do they compare in longevity?
