  • I cut all the footage that was in German and did not show KISS. Most of the footage cut was in German and showing the road crew/merch. Also there was some sort of loose story line about a boy and a girl and I cut most of that out since it made no sense.
    Enjoy!

My mother told me we were going to see a wrestling match and surprised me by taking me to see KISS in November of 1979 at Kiel auditorium in Saint Louis. I was in 4th grade. Wore my concert shirt under my Christian school uniform the next day and got kicked out by the nun because they could see the kiss shirt underneath my dress shirt. Yes my mother was cool and did not give a fuck. She even yelled at the nun and said that they were biassed and discriminatory and removed me from that school. Now that's what I call rock and roll!!!

My first was Creatures tour, January 83, and my Dad drove me and a couple friends to and fro in the family truckster, a blue Plymouth Volare station wagon. I laid in the back tripping on pink mescaline post-gig and my life was changed. Yeah, my dad was cool too. Only wish it was Ace on guitar that nite. Cheers!

I love the 1979 - 1980 era with Dynasty and Unmasked, with songs like Shandi, 2,000 Man and other pop-influenced catchy hard rock. Frankly, they were better at incorporating aspects of Pop/New Wave and Disco into Rock than most of their contemporaries.

Great look into the Unmasked tour, this was just prior to the band coming to Australia. There is also a good documentary shot in Sydney of this tour and sometimes you see snippets of it in ripped videos. This is the time when Ace played a bigger part in concerts and he has already had the very successful solo album which was the best seller.

I think Ace was flexing his muscles in this era, like he would take control of the band, or at least steer it into a more ballsy, heavy direction. Paul & Gene's egos couldn't tolerate it.

Honestly fuck Peter. While he's not a bad drummer his drumming doesn't come close to Eric Carr and Peter seemed too temperamental. All those accidents, car accidents, and unprofessional behaviour during concerts for example. Most of his solo music are boring attempts at imitating R&B.

I hated the color Las Vegas getups and hated that KISS had gone disco. As a result, I began listening to Van Halen and The Blizzard of Oz. But looking at this, they sound very tight in the live unmasked footage. Eric really kicked their butts, I think. To make a long story longer, I saw KISS in 1984 for Lick It Up and loved it. Vinnie was bad ass. I thought KISS finally were ahead of the game for once. Then they got rid of Vinnie and went girl band. In 1996, my friend, who I had not seen for a while, shows up to my place with 2 tickets to KISS. he says, "you didn't know KISS got back together with Ace and Peter, with make up". I didn't have a clue. Very cool seeing KISS and they were great. See Second Coming, tells you why they were so great.
