Question of the Day ⚡ What lights do you use for your RUclips videos? Let us know! *** 📌Check out every Light mentioned in this Video HERE ➡️ kit.co/SeanCannell/best-lighting-for-youtube-videos-for-any-every-budget
This video is great. However, in some of your other videos you recommend the Neewer 660 LED, it did not make the cut in this video, why is that? I am a brand new RUclipsr and have never owned a lighting system before. And I’m concerned that LED would be too bright for the eyes of the person being filmed. I have narrowed my purchase down to the Neewer two piece Bi-color 660, the Emart photography softbox, and the GVM 80W photography LED studio lighting kit. That last one might be too far out of my price range though. Any advice you can give me would be great Lee appreciated.
I was very intrigued by the shower curtain idea. I found one for $1.09 and it seriously is the best tip ever. Having that second diffusion with my Craphy Softboxes has already improved my lighting so much! I love these guys!
Lighting is extremely important, one of the many subtle differences that distinguish a professional against an amateur, thanks as always for the knowledge!
Thanks so much. I was looking for lighting for my church, but I currently only have strobes. I especially needed lighting for multiple subjects. This is exactly what I needed!
I have a work light housing with color changing bulbs. I can cover them with film to soften, I can control brightness, even make it various colors. It's good for beginners.
You actually made my day because I've been thinking of which light to use for my youtube videos. But thanks for showing me how to set my light and now the best and cheap light you can get.
In my new condo there are strip lights with 4 directions and the lights can be soft or brighter depending on moving up or down. I suspect that it will work just fine. Good idea about the windows 🪟. However I just ordered new blinds... which coincidentally are 70% filtered whereas my bedroom blinds will be blackouts. A small 600sqft feels surprisingly big. Probably because the kitchen is very small.
Thanks for sharing this information for lighting. For me my issue is space. I don’t have the space for a light box with a stand. I’ve been using the smaller lights from a 45 degree angle. My new space is good and I can show off my background which looks good.
I currently use a 5000k bulb with a lamp shade from IKEA as a softbox, elevated and clamped to a ladder 😀 If I max out that budget light soution, I will save up for that GVM light 😇 Great video as always guys! 🔥

thank you so much for all the information! I'm starting my youtube channel so this information is super important. I'm getting the 2⃣ (UNDER $25) NEEWER 160 LED CN-160 Dimmable Video Light 😀😀😀😀
So for RUclips channel that will do both talking head videos and podcast style with 2 people. Which light system would be better? The “Fovitec Portable 2-Light 600 LED Bi-Color Panel Kit” or the “GVM 80W Photography LED Studio Lighting Kit”
Dollar tree is the spot!! Lol the curtain trick is a great hack! ... good luck to all creators. I’m on video number 4 in this RUclips journey best of luck to everyone.
Great video for our list to create in the future. Audio -- blankets or audio panels... you want to dampen the sound. Lighting -- In my opinion (Sean here), as much natural light as possible. So windows. Check out this video from Nolan ruclips.net/video/iauiXg32Pgo/видео.html
@@ThinkMediaTV thanks guys! I'm gearing up to make my new cabin youtube studio, so I'm trying to design it to be video friendly and not usually cabin dark 😉
Thank you for these handy tips. Please can you do a series of videos on how to get the best results when filming outside from sunny to cloudy conditions?
Should I get the 2 lights or the GVM 80W for a small room? Is there a big improvement in video qualitativ when I get the GVM or is it just more useful in more Situations?
I actually have a GMV COB light but I record in a small room and the fan noise most definitely comes through my lauv mic. I’m considering going for the 2 mount dog bi color lights. Any thoughts?
Hi Nolan, thanks for the awesome review of lights ranging from budget to higher end professional level! Any suggestion on RGB lights to add color the background? BTW your review of Geekoto Tripod enlightened me so much I bought one! Please tell Sean "Hello" from the Seattle area!
I travel alot and cant build a constant indoor location. Please make a video how to make light outdoors. because sometimes its really hard because of the sun.
Wow, this was great, you guys should make more videos about how to light a youtube video! Maybe like 70-80 of those videos per year would help people out!!
These are all great lighting tips. However I also do a lot of outdoor videos in the garden. So more tips on how to get outdoor lighting just right would be useful for me.

I was hoping you would mention the ring neewer light. I use the tall one. Anyone using this one? I think the shower curtain idea would make softening of the light easier. Thank you for this video! Sharing.

I’d like to go for the $169 version as my key light. If I have the money, should I get a second one as the fill light? Or maybe one of the $50 lights for the fill light since it’s probably a little less powerful? Would 2 $169 lights be overkill?
I added the GVM 80W to my Amazon cart but couldn't do it at $169.00 so I put it in the later cart. Curiosity hit and I looked at it a few days later and it had a coupon added to it for the next 14 minutes so I got it for $113.
Could one explain to me what it is with soft light nowadays? Many of my favorite movies especially from the 90s like Tim Burtons Batman or any film noir are made mit hard lighting. I mean it's easier to light something soft. It's more forgiving. But is that the reason to get a soft lighting look instead of a great hard lighting look ?
I would've got the light for $50 or the one around $200 instead of the Neewer MS60C mini RGB LED video light and the 17inch Neewer softbox. I can't use it because I have no stand for it. I have to buy a heavy duty one because the video light and the softbox together is heavy. I needed a studio light for videos and to create short movies as well. I also liked the RGB mode and the 18 effects that it comes with. Should I keep what I have or go with the lights mentioned in the videos?
Great video!! Thanks for all the tips, and going through all the price options - this is really helpful. Question - For the $25 range, how would you compare an LED light and a Ring light?
Thanks Nolan for sharing this video because it's so needed! I tried out a Sunpak Premium 18" Ring w/Boya wireless mic. While the light was very good (didn't use the mic...have one), I didn't find value in it being that it costs $250 +tax and the stand is not very well made. I have been reviewing videos like this to determine my next setup and GVM is always on the list. Question: for the money, what's your suggestion on investing in an RGB light instead and a diffuser for it? Thanks!
Nice video Think Media. I've decided to buy the GVM-100watt light kit and the Canon M50 mark ii from your affiliate links for my RUclips channel. But when it comes to Audio, Omar Eltakiori recommend the Comica boom X-d wireless. But I saw the Saramonic blink 500 pro which looks better than the Comica. Can you guys review or recommend it? 😭🙏 So I can finish up before the holidays. Thanks for everything.
I am struggling greatly on the lighting. I have gotten the Neewer 660s which your team recommended on another video and cannot figure out how to get the temperature and intensity right at all. My lighting on the videos I am posting looks horrible and after watching many of the lighting videos you have, I am still not getting it. I understand the concepts but I have no idea what settings to use to get the sort of lighting effect you teach...the cinematic look where to point them...and now I see that soft boxes are needed...and they must be big??
It may have to do with the camera's apeture and ISO settings. With great lighting, you can bring both down. "Auto" mode can sometimes appear graint and washed out.

Hi I have a question for you about microphones, i want to record some videos reading books for kids, i will be at least 3-4 feet away from the camera and it will be a kind of dynamic video, which microphone would you say that would be the best for this? thank you.
Godox SL60W... Just brought and immediately returned.. Fan was too way too loud for dialog such as in an interview or video log. Unfortunately not even a smooth sound but had slight scratchy sort of noise that sounded like either a wobble or bearing noise. Amplified with the included metal reflector cone and focused in the direction of the light. Identical noise to what I heard on numerous RUclips reviews afterwards. Do your homework first!
Hey, thanks for all the info. Went to purchase on Amazon but the Mount Dog isn't available but a wide range of other similar lights were displayed........I want the one you previewed.....what should I do?

Lighting = EVERYTHING!
Agree
Another advantage of the GVM 80 over the Godox SL60W is the fan noise. I have both and the GVM is extremely quiet compared to the Godox.
Great point!
