- Before buying a press tool WATCH THIS! #plumber #tools
In this episode I try answer domestic press, crimping whatever you want to call it, questions that ive been receiving.
Ive been using press fittings for the last 2 years, so this is my honest opinion on what i believe is right for the domestic press industry.
0:00 Intro
0:31 The tool I use
1:14 Jaws and fittings
3:09 Installing the fitting
8:00 A round up - Хобби
Do you press yet? If so what fittings and machine do you use? 🎉
Cheers Dan.
Yh since they first came into play gotta admit I only work on commercial so I have a fair idea the best thing is how much they have evolved from being truly cumbersome to slim and lightweight. Make sure you get yours calibrated at regular intervals. Loving your content pal to the point and extremely useful for those new to the game
@@YNWA-oq5uf cheers pal. Yeh trying to keep
It calibrated. Haha it just came back from
One on this video 😂
Great video Dan, thanks for all this information 👍
Welcome
Mate, hope it helps, it’s not for everyone but if anyone’s thinking of it, it’s there 🙏🏽
Thanks Dan, very well explained 👍🏻
Thanks mate. Hope it helps 🙏🏽
Hi Dan without a shadow of a doubt the best informative video on press fittings out there! Great description and explanation of the m/v profiles and the fact you need to get them calibrated! Top marks mate!
Thanks Jerome! Just hope it helps people out if needed 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great video as always Dan
Thanks Tom, means a lot mate.
Cool info on the jaws Dan ! Thanks for braving the cold for the video 🥶
Haha cheers mate. Hope it helps you out 🙏🏽
Thanks for that it was very informative
Cheers buddy, hope
It helps 🙏🏽
Very informative as usual Dan. Wow doesnt 2 years fly by.
Thanks mate, it sure does, life just flys by :( haha.
Thanks for the upload matey. Used a press tool first time on an install last week. Impressive. Two things I noted. Hands weren’t stinging at end of job and also no smell of soldering in the house which seemed odd to get used to.
Haha yeh the smell of soldering knocks me sick now believe it or not! Hope it helps you out this video Paul 🙏🏽
I definitely press more since novapress released the angle jaws.... they're a game changer 👍
I need to get hold of some
🙏🏽
I've got the Novapress had it 2 or 3 years love it. I use m profile never had one leak (yet lol) I just use what ever fittings plumbase have on the shelf
Cheers Mark! Famous last words them. Hopefully you never have any!! 💪🏼
@@Heatking ha hopefully I won't have any
@@marksavill367 and me 😂😂😂
Real World Plumbing…… love the sticker placement….😉😉
Nice one mate, people will always be on one side of the fence or the other…
Yeh that’s true mate! I thought it was a good placement for the sticker haha. 🙏🏽 Happy birthday too!
I was very surprised to see how the fittings looked after pressing - I would say they looked rubbish with all the dents and marks. If the pipework was exposed the overall impression would be that the job was badly done compared with a simple solder joint done by a professional plumber. I also feel that the inability to remove or rotate the joint is a big drawback. AND £800 for the tool. That's lots of time to be saved to make it worthwhile.
Appreciate your comment Richard, and respect your opinion 🙏🏽 I can see why you think that!
Soldered for years, but it's hard to compete on big jobs against the press fittings , even on smaller jobs the quickness of it.
I remember in 2008/9 I was using the geberit oness and noone really knew much about em. They was big old heavy things
This isn’t the lightest but yeh they’ve come a long way!
I mainly use mine on gas runs ive got the 1st edition novopress aco103 only diff with ur one is my ones head dont spin, my only issue is fitting prices but am sure they will come down as more conpanies are bringing out press fittings, but great video mate
Cheers Razz, you tried direct plumbing supplies for fittings? Their prices are bang on. And the swivel head is nice but not always useful haha.
@@Heatking no i aint checked direct plumbing but i will have a look, also monster plumb do good prices the pegasus brand aint too bad it comes with a green strip which comes off when u press
@@Razz60 yeh I like the look and idea of them mate.
Hello friend. I always buy the best quality parts when I work. Naturally, they are also more expensive, but it is important to me that there are no leaks when doing the work. Quality fittings, taps, pipes are a guarantee for good and safe work. Otherwise, I do not use press machines because here in Copper pipe is used very little in Bulgaria. But my personal opinion is that if you work at high temperatures above 80 degrees and high pressure of 10 bars, the rubber will not last long. Otherwise, I agree that it is fast, safe and harmless. Greetings from Bulgaria.
welcome from Bulgaria! I’ve been! Haha sunny beach you’ll be surprised to know 😂 what pipe do you use in Bulgaria? And yeh I agree on the quality, when and if these cheaper fittings go wrong then I’ll have to have a re think but so far so good 🙏🏽
Thanks for the info mate! Haven't started pressing yet, maybe at a later date. :) Can I ask you what van you drive? Looks so spacious!
Welcome
Mate.! Hope it helps when it comes to your time to buy if you do. And it’s a long wheel based custom. But the camera was on
Wide zoom
😂
Solder all the way pal 👍
Cheers James. I don’t think press will ever beat soldering completely 💪🏼
Not noticed the pipe distortion on other you-tube channels ( MJTiff, Caprani )
They probably haven’t shown you up close :) I use same press tool as MjTiff. :)
So many different aspects to cover and some get overlooked in videos…..
Just looked up the milwakee they do a whole box with jaws ect 1400
Decent price is that mate. 🙏🏽
Time is Definitely Money Dan in our game, but I still think you need to be doing a lot of copper pipe work to make it well worthwhile like site work and that,
For general boiler installs not sure it it’s worth buying,
But great video as always Mate 😂
👍👍🤜
Yeh Tony I understand what you’re saying matey, sometimes I think about selling it and just soldering haha
does anyone know if theres a press gun that uses Makita batties
Yes there is. Just can’t remember its name, but definitely is
Can you press 28? Where is it you buy your kit?
Yeh just need 28mm jaws. And I bought this from pressituk 💪🏼
Have you seen those nerrad tools for the water in the pipe? Quality for people like me who don't use press
Yeh jet swets, I’ve a video on them somewhere haha. Just expensive!
@@Heatking yea I dunno how much they are but cheaper then a press gun lol! But not as cheap as a slice of bread lol
@@jacko2815 I posted the slice of bread trick on here once and got
Called allsorts of names 😂😂😂
@@Heatking haha they're proberly jealous you no the tricks and there all ametures. The bread tricks been used for years!
Novopress 102 🤘😎🤘
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Good stuff pal 👍🏼 but there's no mention of the correct depth gauge..I know eff that but please make people aware of the fact if leaks occurred and the installation was of said fitting not to the correct depth as manufacturer instructions eg marked on fitting with marker installer is liable ffs so anyone using press make sure there is no marker on fitting apart from the x to say it's pressed. Message over
Cheers pal. I do show how to install the fitting marking the depth on and checking in this video? Is that not what you mean?
Press all day long. People slag it off but it’s cleaner than soldering and better for your health.
Agreed Ian! Once you’ve used it I don’t think there’s any going back haha.
Health, but did you take the vaccines?
Been in the game 40 years so a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to new systems. Probably will get on the pressfit wagon at some point! Just forked out £650 on a new kane 385 and my ACS gas is due for renewal in March so dont think ill be pressing anything this year😵🤷🏼♂️
Yeh my Dads said he will never get into press haha. Understandable it’s not for everyone👍🏼 but yeh your wallets had a battering mate 😂😂😂
Definitely think they are a luxury item and for anyone starting out who thinks they need one straight away you don’t ! The fittings are hideously expensive, bulky and it’s just another bulky expensive tool to carry around.
I understand fully where you’re coming from 💪🏼
They're cheaper than speedfit mind you..
How long do the O rings last for cheers
Time will tell but they have a 30
Year warranty like speedfit fittings :)
Been using crimp on commercial for decades without any issues 👍
@@SuperWayneyb cheers Wayne!
Yearly calibration ?
Yes mate annual calibration:)
@@Heatking Funny how calibration only becomes a thing AFTER everyone jumps onto crimping. Years ago that wasn’t mentioned
@@SuperWayneyb I wish it wasn’t needed haha.
Thanks for the interesting vid.
Didn't know you could press V prof with M jaws. I have a Rems gun (with M jaws), the only problem I have is I can't press an M Tee with the standard jaws, as they fowl (have to use angle jaws); but I could press a V Tee as its wider...👍
cheers mate. 🙏🏽 yeh conex released an update on this about a year ago. Which then made my V jaws absolutely pointless 😂
@@Heatking I use my angle jaws a lot...
@Heatking sorry, what's your name please?
@@can-be-askedhandymanproper3015 I neeeeeeeeeeed some haha.
@@can-be-askedhandymanproper3015 sorry mate. It’s Dan. How about you. 🙏🏽
It much cost a small fortune for all the tools you purchase. Do you have to pay to go on training courses . My friend is a sparky, yes your enemies, 😂, and pays a fortune for courses.
Yeh certain ones we do, only boiler product courses we don’t need to pay for. :(
@@Heatking ❤️

Yeh Tony, I understand mate. Sometimes I do think, do I really need to press and should I sell it 😂
