- "The Haven of Rest" is a well-known hymn, the words which were penned in 1885 by Henry L. Gilmore (1836-1920), of Wenonah, New Jersey. The famous tune, now in public domain, was composed by musician George D. Moore (1800-1900), who was self-described as a homeless itinerant evangelist. Though it is thought that he may have written other tunes, this work alone remains. The tune has been borrowed for other sets of words, including Sam Jones' beautiful hymn, "God's Word is So Pure and So Precious to Me."
Oh Lord let our hearts in Thy status be found. It's more precious than rubies can be. 🙏 Thanks Dave.
