i am not able to start the engine but i see ur this video then i am success to start the engine, my dear thanks for ur video.have a good luck in ur coming future.
I don’t know if you’re still active on here, but I have been working on my side kick for 4 months and could not get to the bottom of what was going on. Turns out I had the “E” mark at 12 o’clock. Rotated the cam to 6 o’clock and it runs like a dream. Thank you so much.
Thanks a lot for this video greatly appreciated. For those that tried it but didn’t work, in my case I had to go the opposite direction of the 5 degrees and make it roughly 5 degrees the other direction. Don’t understand it but it runs great.everything else I did how Mr Cook said.
Ok will it still run if its on wrong cylindar at distrubitor i lined mine up it runs but the distrubitor would never point on those cylindars what up with that any help would be great
I think if it runs then it must be pointing to the correct cylinders or really close. Contact me through my face book page, suzuki sidekick restoration project, and give me more details. I will try to help.
Hi, I have 1990 sidekick G16A engine 8v, On mine the distributor finger should be on 11 Oclock position while the fixing screw is on 12 Oclock /on your engine G 16A 16v finger is little more past 12 Oclock. And that is exactly how its need to be. Maybe you can help me with how to position camshaft on G16A 8v engine is it also 180 degrees mark straight down? When inserting distributor gear? I cannot find any info about that. Or is it O degrees position. Thank you best regards
I show the process in a couple of other videos also. You might want to have a look at, I think it was, the last episode of my head rebuild video. The best way for me is to get crankshaft and camshaft marks lined up perfect (tdc #4) and then turn the crankshaft one full turn clockwise. Then #1 will be tdc and confirm that by looking at valve rocker arms. Then insert the distributor assembly so that the rotor will point at #1 position. You can discuss with me on my face book page: facebook.com/SidekickRebuild/
Three things need to line up properly. The crankshaft pulley at the bottom, the larger camshaft pulley at the top, and the distributor at the rear. If you have had the distributor removed like I did then these are the steps. With the belt off, line up the crankshaft marks as shown in video. That puts cylinder 1 at front and cylinder 4 at back in the top dead center position. Now turn camshaft pulley until E mark is pointed straight up. Next, turn your distributor so that the rotor is pointed to the #4 cylinder spark plug wire. Now slide the distributor assembly back into the engine and tighten the bolts. In this position these things should all be true: Crankshaft pulley marks lined up, Camshaft E mark straight up, and distributor rotor pointed toward cylinder 4 spark plug wire. If you have the cover off you can check to see that exhaust valve lifters on #4 cylinder are loose (valves closed) and exhaust valve lifters on #1 are tight (valves open). That confirms that everything is correct. Don't forget to check valve lifter clearances again before putting the cover back on. Hope this explanation helps you.
excellent explanation. The "E" upwards, damper in top dead center and rotor pointing towards 4. The valves of the piston 4 must be totally closed and those of the piton 1 in the crossing of valves. I'll do that tomorrow to see if it turns me on. Regards!
Sorry Zameer, I do not understand your question. Maybe you are asking why the camshaft pulley has two marks. If that is your question, then I do not know the answer. Probably have to get a Suzuki design engineer to answer that question.
Bonjour Est ce que c'est possible de remplacer moteur suzuki 3 cylindre 12 v par un autre moteur Suzuki alto 4cylindres 16 V ? MERCI pour votre conseil .
If you are in the US then try hwy83 suzuki or randy gibbs in washington state. I have done business with both and both were good. For new, you might look on alibaba or check megazip dot com. Good luck.
hi. what happens if the silicone that you used to seal the camshaft cover fall in the engine? can fall in the engine that silicone? sorry for my bad english.
Do not use silicon on the valve cover. Order a gasket. That is my advice. Small amounts of silicon can squeeze out on the inside and break off. They can plug up the tiny oil holes for the camshaft. If that happens then your engine is ruined.
Can you explain what the difference is. What is different? The thing that was super confusing to me is that when all the timing marks are lined up then the rotor in the distributor should be pointed to the wire from cylinder #4. I (and other people) assumed it would be cylinder #1, but it is not.
The engine block is a G16A (cast in back of block). The engine as a whole might technically be considered a G16B engine according to manual. I have tried looking up what the difference is and I cannot find anything different between the 16V G16A and 16V G16B. If you know what the difference is then I would like to know.
@@dsrupthq7491 Thanks for the reply. I have studied since my comment above. 16A and 16B are identical blocks. 16A has the 8 valve head on it. I think they can be carburetor of EFI depending on year. 16B has the 16 valve head and also the pistons are different. 16B pistons have 4 cutouts for the valves. The lower ends are interchangeable so long as you have the correct pistons. All of the blocks are stamped G16A even if it is a G16B engine through 1995 and probably later ones too. If looking for new block on Alibaba then I suggest searching for G16A engine/block..

Thank you so much for this video 🩷 our kicks cam tdc was slightly off. This showed me what I needed 🥰

Здравствуйте подскажите пожалуйста. Suzuki Escudo 1990 года двигатель g16a Какой должен быть тепловой зазор на клапанах на холодную?
Not sure, but I suspect the valve clearance would be the same as mine, 0.16 mm.

Buenas, entonces cual es la forma correcta de colocar el punto del arbol de levas?
Lo siento pero no puedo explique en espaniol. Encontrar amigo que habla engles e escucha video para traducir. Yo hablo muey poco espaniol.

E is for timing belt i is for the distribuidor you put the timing belt on E then you Turns the cam n put it in I for the distributor fire on number 1
