excellent video I have wondered about that many times. but the thing I love is how u checked it awesome 👌shoutout from jamaica 🇯🇲 I have a boosted toyota corsa 1996 love your channel keep up the great work wish I could come visit your shop .
You sir are (in my eye) a 4e/5e LEGEND! Thank you for all the great information you have provided to all us 4/5e builders. Shame these cars and engines are out of production. Do you have any ignition maps to share???
Nice explanation bro 👍🏽 Your starlet information on youtube is unmatched. I want to see this channel sky rocket so Matt & Nick can build some crazy sh*t 😎
Finally a proper video on this! 😁 I use the 4e marks on my n/a 5e. When I first built my high comp 5e, I ran my oem 4e-f carb distributor with mikuni bs36 Yamaha slide Carbs. I had to modify the centrifugal weights in the distributor to restrict them from advancing the ignition too quickly (there was 0 spring preload for a the first few degrees) used to pink like crazy before that. With the 5e marks the torque would come on strong in the lower rpms and spin the tyre, but fall off alot uptop but the inconsistent fuel quality cause severe pinking around where the torque would come in, I retarded the cam timing using the 5e marks and it killed that torque kick but the higher rpms power just keeps climbing. The 5e mark suited my car better with the 3.5final drive, but with the 4.3 final drive and the 4e timing mark suits my needs better. Very unnecessary for a turbo application though.
Thanks dawgs! I did timing belt on my 4efe last weekend and now she won't start lol. No spark at the plugs or dizzy, no one can figure out what's wrong. Driving me nuts!!!

Currently rebuilding a 4e and was just wondering what the difference is between the two dot punch marks on the cam cap for the timing on the head
My precious…
Can you do a video on how to adjust your stock 5e cams to better performance???
Hi technician, interesting video and information. Similar situation occurs with 2E and 3E engines.
I think mine only has the 5e mark and it's a 4efte. Is this possible or do 5e and 4e cam gears have both marks?
Actually i support you for the knowledge gain...
Brilliant.
