- 1999 Toyota Tercel 5EFE timing belt replacement. Please do not screw up your car and blame me. I accept 0 ZERO responsibility for you killing your car because you did it wrong.
I did my timing belt because it had over 350k km on the original factory belt. I also took the time to replace 2 oil seals, camshaft and crankshaft. This helped the leaking alittle.
You are the man ! I'm doing a head gasket on my 92 paseo, same motor. This video helps me a ton! Thanks again dude!
Thanks for this video! This is ok for Toyota Paseo 5EFE. I did it step by step.
Good job, G Man!
I’m doing all of this but I’m replacing the water pump as well.
Thanks for the video. I would have been nice if you showed us how did you remove the seals.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video, I wonder if I can do this myself?
Greetings! I’m having a hard time getting a replacement for the crankshaft harmonic pulley, the same one in the video. 5EFE on a 1998 Tercel. All I can find is the single belt one, I need the one with for two belts. Mine had no bolt holes to remove it. Where do you get it? Thanx!
Hey im trying to get my timing belt on but it just is barely able to reach it. I have the tensioner fully locked back into loose. Did your belt slide right on?
I've heard that some belt timing style engines are fail safe if the belt rips making sure the engine doesn't get destroyed. is this engine fail safe by any chance?
Thugz bunny this is an interference design meaning if you mess up your timing you'll likely have the valves and pistons meet. this is not a "fail safe" engine.
thank you for the fast response! great vid!
Thugz bunny The 5EFE engine is a non- interference engine in it's stock form
Hello are you still active on this youtube video????
Hi, I have a 97 tercel and wanted to know if the procedure is exactly the same. I have a.c., Will the compressor have to be removed? also, I couldn't tell, but does the motor mount need to be removed? I did this on my Plymouth acclaim, but had the manual , unfortunately Haynes doesn't make one for my year travel. Thanks for any info!
Rick Burton I did not have to remove the motor mount, some people do to gibe them more room its all up to you just be sure to support the motor before you remove the mount. As for the AC compressor Im not sure if it will have to be removed but imagine it wouldn't have to be don't quote me on that as i haven't worked on a 5efe with AC. You may have to move it out of your way to get more room but try not to remove the AC lines its illegal to release refrigerate into the atmosphere its not good for your health and you'll have a smelly garge for a while. best of luck with this if you need any more info feel free to message me.
Thanks Alex! Forgot to ask, I had to set my plymouth to TDC on the Compression Stroke if I recall right, Does that matter with this engine?
Rick Burton yes the motor should be at TDC which is the 0' degree mark on the plastic timing cover there is also a timing mark on the cam housing that has to line up with the 3e hole ( check this as soon as you take off the upper timing belt cover) in the cam gear.
Alex G ,I'm sorry, I just meant did it matter if it's on the compression or exhaust stroke with those marks lined up.
Rick Burton it doesn't matter so long as its timed up using the timing marks.
BS. It says timing belt replacement but doesn't show putting the belt back on. Like how did u hold the tensioner open while put the belt on
Are the seals the same size?
Teun S crank and cam seals are the same
G Man what a guy!
como reemplazar los palos de elevas de un Toyota paseo del 96 motor 5e
umm no I didn't raise the engine.... if that's what your asking
He was asking how to replace the camshaft on a Paseo...
Lol, you’re waving your camera around like a paint brush
