    brother, your video helped me to solve a big problem, that I have when performing the rectification of my engine, I was not able to put it to the point and make the engine work. but luckily I found your video, and there was no error, I just had to adjust the distributor in the right position and everything worked correctly, hugs from Brazil...

    Awesome video man, your commentary is amazing!
    I've recently been messing with my 1.3 Samurai and i have noticed that the timing belt is rubbing against the front plastic timing cover at higher RPM, the back sheet metal part of the timing cover appears to be slightly tweaked. Is this a common issue that you're aware of or is this just someone in the last 30 years prying against it too hard and bending it? Any suggestions for a fix? I am considering some foam padding to offset it by 2-3mm since i couldn't get the back part in shape correctly. Thanks for any tips!

    • @Hwy83SUZUKI

    2- Transmission jerks when i put it in reverse

    4- It has a vaccum issue (thats for sure).

    Hi Tony, your videos are gold!
    I just replaced the timing belt on my 1998 tracker 1.6 the Spanish model by santana motors (the EU model). My issue is that my timing belt walks off the cogs even by turning the motor by hand. I tried mounting the t belt as far back as possible but after 2-3 motor revolutions the belt sits at the face of both cogs. If i keep turning the motor, the timing belt starts hanging off the cogs. This is true no matter the belt tension as i tried both the belt tension torqued to spec after two motor revolutions and even with the belt tensioner hand tight. The water pump - tbelt and tensioner, tensioner spring and the tensioner bolt are new (OEM).
    Crank key is perfect - torqued to spec as stated in your video.
    Thanks in advance

    @MP-li2ho Год назад

    Hey thanks for the video, I did exactly what you did but I had to change the camshaft seal and the crankshaft seal also, I never turned the camshaft, I just pulled it off changed the seal and put it back on , I did however turn the crankshaft a little one way or the other but I always put it right back on the marks, anyway I changed both seals and put the marks back just like the way before I started this. Put the timing belt back like I took it off. This is on a 1.6 16 valve engine however when I try to start it it sounds out of time don’t understand how this could be, in your video your distributor is different than mind meaning my number four wire is more to the bottom center on the rotor cap. but it is on the fourth cylinder, I did check my distributor again and in order to get it centered on the distributor cap to the rotor i have to turn the cap almost all the way in the clockwise position., will I hurt it by turning the engine over messing with the distributor. I see that it’s a interference motor.this was suppose to be a easy project , just put everything back just like I took it off but no somehow I did something wrong. Also I did check to make sure the 4 cylinder was on top dead center. I checked and rechecked everything is on it’s marks. I’ve never messed with the distributor so it should run. I was afraid I might have messed the valves by trying to start it but I don’t see how that could be when everything is on it’s mark , right lol 😂 I did read in my chilton manual it said not to turn the crankshaft counterclockwise, didn’t really understand that. I Maybe turned it an inch either way but right back where it belonged, would it be better to take the distributor out and readjust it so it centers up more on the tab where the bolt is that locks your distributor down? Right now it’s all the way to the right to get the number four wire to line up with the rotor. This is a mess plus my writing anyway thanks for your trouble

    Tony, I watched your video on stabbing the distributor but its a different setup than this engine and distributor, I am having starting issues after installing a new reman head on my x90 1.6 16v. I have changed a few belts on these, and 2 heads, and each time I have set my distributor like this, Now I learn when you pull the distr. there is an arrow notch on the shaft housing and a small dot on the shaft, which should line up, You will have to back off a bit to install so the rotation will line it back to no. 4, I keep getting several other people telling me that is wrong, The marks on the shaft should line up to no. 1?? If I spin it to no. 1 the shaft marks do not line up, I tried it yesterday and about blew the spark plug out from a backfire, But at no.4 it starts at very low idle only for a few seconds and quits and will not restart!, Why?

      You can make a hold back strap wrench from an old timing belt. Wrap around egr crank gear and the water pump

    Hi Tony , i have 1998 Suzuki sidekick 16valve , recently i did tune-up to it , changed spark plugs and wires , air filter , fuel injectors , fuel pump and fuel filter . When i start the car it smells so bad carbon dioxide and makes greyish smoke . Can you tell what's causing it ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
    I have the 16valve version engine and it consumes 1liter every 600 miles. Is there any common fix for it? I need engine rebuild?

    • @DavidMartinez-hy4fx
      @DavidMartinez-hy4fx Год назад +1

      I would say needs to be rebuilt. I had one that burnt oil and I drove it like that for five years before I sold it to somebody that was excited to have it. I should’ve never sold it and should’ve spent the money to fix it as it was the cleanest one I ever owned. Happy trails, my friend

      @@DavidMartinez-hy4fx Thanks for your message. Sadly, I crashed mine in last Sunday. I sold it yesterday for 200$ for parts... I added injector cleaner, stop leak, change oil and filter and then I add stop smoke with 15w40. All additives from wynns. It has a great improvement before I crash it.

    I've got a g13bb 1.3L sohc 16v mpfi distributorless motor I rebuilt, (it was having power loss/ bog issues and I tried everything except rebuild) and I set the base timing both crank and cam at 12⁰ so ignition is set to 0⁰ tdc of cylinder 4 compression stroke, my manual says ignition timing is 5⁰ Btdc and after diagnosing pretty much every possible cause I went back through my data and I've recently noticed reviewing my scan data that when the power loss occurs the ignition timing is firing between 10⁰-15⁰ atdc and considering it should be firing 5⁰ btdc it's about 15⁰-20⁰ retarded than its supposed to be, as a suzuki guy, do you know if anything in particular typically causes this? This motor has a brand new fuel system, new ignition system, new intake/exhaust system including new o2's, new cooling system and oil system, transmission is engaging not slipping has correct fluid/level and new rings/valve lapped strong compression its only when I put it in drive it starts firing super late but idles good and fires up every time and I'm not hearing any knocking so why tf is it firing so late? Ive only worked on suzhki motors for about 5 yrs and haven't really worked on timing much so I'm fairly new to that but everything else I've worked on no problem, My theory so far is that, instead of lining the crank to 0⁰tdc, line up the cam to same position at 12⁰ so that valve open/close is still in sync then, offset the crank angle to 5⁰ btdc coming up to 0⁰ dtc of cylinder 4 compression stroke and put the belt on after, this way I can force the ecu to fire earlier and hopefully get my power back but from what it feels like trying to accelerate, it's losing all its power firing waaaay too late and I just figure maybe I should check in with a more experienced guys who's worked on these same motors before I try this idea, I doubt 5⁰ difference will do any harm but I also know there's a reluctor wheel for the crank signal and I'm not 100% sure if that really matters for crank/cam sync just cause the crank reluctor wheels has multiple teeth on it and the cam only has 1 tooth for cam signal and I've seen other motors run off crank signal on a single tooth as well so I assume the multiple teeth here are just extra signal refrence points? I tried finding your other 1.3L timing videos and couldn't find any so figured this video was next best thing
