  • In this episode I replace the head gasket on this Massey Ferguson 35 Diesel tractor. It is a 3 cylinder Perkins diesel. We noticed the water in the oil after taking off the rocker cover to adjust the valve clearance. Come along to see how this job goes and see if it will run again. #tractor #mechanical #diesel #perkins #dieselengine #enginebuild #farmequipment #repair #restoration

Hi Steve Geoff here Perth you are right about dreams thay are cheap but if you don't dream you have nothing to look forward to, that little 35 is a great tractor I drove one on the farm and then a 35x and a 135 thay are great tractors. It's good to watch your blogs it brings back a lot of memories I had 55 old tractors and 32 stationery engines at one time but sadly they have all gone to a new paddock now I miss tinkering on them but Im a bit long in the tooth now. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
    Regards Geoff claxton

Hi Geoff. Thanks for watching and apologies for the late reply. Yes mate you are right about dreams. I have a few actually it this one would be great. They are a great tractor. I would have loved to seen your collection. I’m sure you miss tinkering but all good things come to an end I guess. It will one day for me also. I’m going to make the most of it while I can. Grow the collection a bit more and see where it gets me. All the best Geoff and plenty more coming for you to enjoy

Best radiator flush ive used is a crushed up Finish dishwasher tablet with the red ball removed. Cant remember where i saw it used but works well. Ive got old junk in my paddock that runs every now and then, chamberlain, old toro etc. Beats a 20 min drive into town to get radiator flush.

I worked in Fergy parts during school holidays as a teen, 135s were the current model and seemed fairly bullet proof, considering the area that garage covered we had a service van equipped to split tractors on farm for major repairs the two tractor mechanics werent very busy, my memory isnt good enough to remember the inlet parts if I ever sold any

Nope not boring at all Steve,. You said about the bigger channels, not sure about things to much to really be able to comment. What I can say is this; I watch you, and only a very few other channels I bother with, actually repair any vehicle to good in every aspect. Extremely knowledgeable who really know their stuff, I watch, enjoy and more often learn something. I'm not a mechanic by any means but have messed around with stuff since i was a small boy, but not as much as i would have liked. When i see some channels however, I wonder who and what counts as following, because damned if know why. Do the "so say" subscribers actually exist?.

I certainly don’t know everything about this stuff but im certainly not scared of attempting it either. I like having a go mate. It’s how you learn. I’m sure you learned a lot from playing around. More than you think actually. All the best as always John

I've seen quite a few of these old things kicking around, fairly popular with the vintage machinery crowd.
Regarding youtube every creator regardless of genre struggles with the same issues on their channels (even the big ones). As an extreme example one channel I watch has half a million plus subscribers, 1 video will get 100,000 views and the next will get under 5,000 then 20,000 the video after that. The 1 thing everyone seems to agree on is it's way harder to make a living out of youtube now than it ever was, more than a few have chucked it in but I hope you're able to make a go of it for a while and knock out some of the bigger projects.
