This is my favorite Kiss album. I think I was 8 when it came out and my first concert was the Dynasty Tour. The image of them rising from the floor is burned in forever!
I always loved Dynasty. All the Ace tracks, Magic Touch, both Gene tracks, Sure Know Something... so many great songs beyond IWMFLY. I also got it as a kid in 1979. It was also the first time I saw them live. My parents wouldn't let me go to MSG in '77 but finally gave in and let me go to the Nassau Coliseum show in 1979 with Judas Priest opening. Even though Gene only had 2 songs on the album, they're 2 of my favorite Gene songs. IMO, there's some revisionist history with many KISS fans when it comes to Dynasty (and Unmasked)... many didn't like it until decades later when the band embraced IWMFLY and started playing it live again. I think it made some feel like they were allowed to like it. :) Same thing with The Elder... another album I loved from day one.
Great story at the end with the after skool harassment. In '79 when I'd wear my Kiss iron-on to skool on Fridays (the logo one with individual pics inside each letter, Peter w/panther) I'd get punched in the arm by kids walking the other direction in the hallways between classes. "Kiss sucks!" ker--plunk!

Great re-review! I love this album. Had the poster on my wall for years along with every other Kiss poster in the 70's.
Dynasty is chock full of really fun tracks! Dirty Living has become my top-favorite.
Magic Touch is definitely in contention to be my favourite KISS song at the moment. Sure Know Something should’ve been a huge hit too imo

A lot of people say that Dynasty is a Disco-Album...IT IS NOT!! Dynasty is a great Rock-Album

Many people judge an album by just one song.
Surely I was made for loving you is something for the disco....BUT all the other songs are strong rockers!
Ace definitely smokes on Dynasty!
A production of Eddie Kramer would have made the Ace- and Genesongs heavier.
Like I said before - Dynasty is a Rockalbum in my opinion - it should have been opened with Charisma and I was made for loving you should have closed the album.
Anton Fig did a good job on Dynasty.

Back then I only liked 2,000 Man and Charisma. Now I like the album more
I still really enjoy this album, maybe it's nostalgia.
I remember my grandmother buying this album for me at K-Mart in '79.
I think i got "Love Gun" the year before at K-Mart, also thanks to her.
I do enjoy, I was made for lovin' you, always have.
But DYNASTY had some killer Ace tunes, plus Dirty Livin, Magic Touch....

Musically I think Dynasty is pretty solid and I don’t mind the colour coded costumes…….apart from Peters preposterous green cat epaulets which thankfully didn’t get seen too much.
I love this whole album. That includes I Was Made For Loving You. I do like Disco. Donna Summer, Bee Gees, Diana Ross etc etc. Love that stuff. As far as Dynasty I like everything. My favorites are Charisma and Magic Touch. My least favorite is Dirty Livin but again still really like it.

PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISS Wednesday! Love the Anton Fig shop on the Dynasty cover. Him and Ace are positioned perfectly to be a real foil to the Paul/Gene dynamic of the band. I always wondered if Anton being in the band for real would of upped everybody's game AND formed a lasting allegiance with Ace to offset the other two. Ace claims it would of wrecked Anton. Tough to argue with that honest perspective. However...lol.
Dynasty……..🤔 used to hate it now it’s pretty good. I put it at #12 for me

For a good while, Dynasty was the only KISS album I kept on my iPod. I love all the songs, except for "Dirty Livin'" And yeah, I've never cared for the Rolling Stones. I consider 2000 Man a KISS song, since they do it 100x better.
Great album. Much better than what the "critics" think of it. Top 3 album no doubt.
Great record. The disco hit overshadows everything else on it, unfortunately. I think some of the detractors missed out on some brilliant music. Charisma has become a favourite. One of my favourite Gene songs.

Dude..I went through the same thing. Loved Dynasty..by the time Unmasked came out, I was out. I remember seeing Unmasked at KMart thinking it was like a parody album of some sort. Kinda is....
Dynasty is often overlooked- I honestly wasn't keen at first, but it's aged very well. Glad I'm off early on KISS Wednesday 💋 keep rockin, Ralph! 🤘 And F RUclips, they're worse than the "rock n roll hall of fame". You deserve more! ♥

Dynasty is a solid album. I bought it within a couple of days of its release. I love "2000 Man" and "Sure Know Something" best. But all the songs rock. I didn't care for "I Was Made For Lovin' You" when it arrived during discomania. I thought it a bunch of twat slop. But it has grown on me over the years. And I also had an iron-on Ace t-shirt back then. But even then, Led Zeppelin, for me, was better than KISS. Rock on!"🤘

Dynasty / I was made for loving you was the first kiss I heard. Good times, got me into kiss until this day. Hard to rank these songs as most of them are really good and equal. Probably bottom would be 2000 man and then charisma. Top would be 1. Sure know something, 2. Hard times, 3. I was made.
Haha 2x4 was classic and that robot algorithm gives me chills.
