When this album came out, I thought it was ok. Today, I’ve come to really love this album. I’d put it under Lick It Up, but above Asylum.

For me personally Revenge is a top 5 KISS album. I love it, from start to finish. For me KISS has always been about the songs and the production. If you have to balance the songs and the sound quality you end up with COTN, KISS, HTH and LIU at the top and Revenge just below. All that's it's heavy rock. While albums like RARO and LG and even Animalize and Asylum hold their worth for a few songs like I Stole Your Love and I've Had Enough, Revenge paints a TOTAL picture. The guitar riffs are great! Even an obscure track like Heart of Chrome is GOLD!
I remember the first time I heard Revenge (Unholy first song). I was returning from holidays in Greece in the summer of 1992 (yes, I'm from Europe). My mother spotted the cassette in the tax free zone. She said something like "look, you like this band, and Twisted Sister, right". I had no idea Revenge was out. So she bought it for me and I listened to it so many times back home. When the intro to Unholy starts my knees bend... KISS was back!
Just listen to the music. KISS was back. If Gene has a signature song it's obviously Deuce for many people. Then you ad I Love It Loud and War Machine. Then you ad Unholy and you ask yourself why the fuck is this not as popular as Enter Sandman or Sad But True? Who the fuck ran MTV back in those days?
I have to say, I love this album. This is the album where I was first introduced to Kiss, largely thanks to GGRARTY2 and the Bill and Ted soundtrack. It was the first album I bought with my own money, and I still get nostalgic when I play it. Obviously they're very subjective opinions, but there is something about this album that just hits me. And the vocal harmonies on this album are perhaps the best they've ever written (with the exception of Dynasty).
All the songs from revenge that were played live on kiss alive 3 sound awesome!

when it first came out i loved it but over time it`s a ok album
I saw them at the Miami Arena at the time and yep, remember they played I Wannna..ugh..the pain in the stomach came up. If I listen to it now, I would agree, very dull album. Unholy was the best track, agreed.

Revenge was originally supposed to be vinnies album title for his next album but gave it to gene so i heard. Guess gene liked it. Don't know if thats how guitarmaggedon title came to be.
Definitely an improvement from the Hot in the Shade garbage but they should have left off Spit and Tough Love
First time I ever saw Kiss live was on this tour. I remember the Omni in Atlanta was maybe a third full. It was pretty shocking to see such a lack of interest, but Kiss put on a good show. Great White was an awesome as I had ever seen them (that was the third time), and Trixter was, in my opinion, embarrassingly bad. As far as Revenge goes, I thought it was okay but there were definitely some clunkers.
this was a weird time to be a 16-yr old KISS fan…i loved this album at the time but i like it way less now then i did then. there are a couple of good songs but a ton of filler too. the show that i saw on this tour, however, was incredible - as was the previous tour in spite of how atrocious that record is.

The only 3 songs from Revenge I like is Unholy, Heart of Chrome and Thou shalt not the rest of this album I can't be bothered expect Eric Carr Jam

Gotta agree here as well! About bruces guitar playing outstanding! Best thing on the album! For me unholy and thou shalt not rest is too weak and those again! Screaming paulie vocals hooh!

this was the album that got me back into KISS i didn't really like animalize or crazy nights the guys stared to look like poison and cinderlla and to me the songs were weaker sounding then unmasked and to be honest, guys dressing like chicks acting like "tough dudes" was never my thing (still isn't) and i had already got deep into bands like venom, testament, entombed, and bolt thrower but revenge came out around the same time as Metallica's black album for me and my small group of friends it was good times i liked most of the album and the tour was awesome.
Yeah this was their black leather and scruff album. An obvious attempt to redeem themselves after becoming such a pink spandex, effeminate cringefest
Unholy is prob top 10 kiss. The rest is a decent step down. Tough love, paralysed are great. Everytime I look at you n Domino thou shall not are solid. It's a solid album.

I only like one song on the record (Unholy) and I don't even like it that much. The most overrated KISS record!
To me other then Ace Bruce was the best guitarist for kiss in my opinion they should've brought him back and not Tommy not that Tommy sucks or anything it just makes sense.
Take it Off moved up to #3 for me after I watched the video with the um.......dancers!
I thought it was great when it came out, after listening to it recently I’ve changed my mind it’s not that great. There are a few good tracks though.

Perfect example of people listening with their eyes. Oh! KISS look all tough with their beards, black leather and spikes!!...Take away "Unholy" and the entire album falls apart. Despite the image, both Asylum and Animalize were heavier albums musically.

I really agree with you about this album. It’s totally overrated by the KISs Army. Take off Unholy which is great, and it’s laughable. Some dreadful songs and I hate that ballad! 🤣
I think that If this album had Unholy and some COS' songs like Hate, Rain, M&S, It Never Goes Away, In the Mirror, Jungle and I confess, It would be fuckin' great. But unfortunately this album sucks

I agree, a very overrated uncatchy and unmemorable album they clearly tried too hard here to be tough and heavy just for the sake of it and it feels forced and calculated but unlike on Creatures of the Night where it all worked they forgot the quality songs here. Up until this point, it must've been the worst album Ezrin ever put his name to maybe it still is...

Revenge is a horrible album, animalized rules over all the no makeup albums. Actually the best thing since Love gun. It's cool you still got content out and I hope to hear good news soon.
Revenge is easily the most OVER- RATED Kiss album. Almost the whole album, sans "Take it Off" and "Carr Jam", is complete filler.
Paul was right about Kiss fans listening with their eyes as most of the love this album gets is due to the band's image at this time and not the actual quality of music it produced.
Revenge is the worst Kiss album period the only songs I like are Just wanna and Unholy the rest not not so much
