As a kid I had Destroyer,Alive! and Love Gun..My Mother got one of those record deal things where you can get so many vinyl for a penny, I got Dynasty I guess I was to you young to get the whole disco/sell out thing, cause I loved that album..actually I loved them all up to The Elder..but have found a new appreciation for it recently.. The old shit is literally all over the place, songs that are incredible and songs where I was shaking my head like wtf is this crap..LOL! Anyways..Love both Destroyer and Dynasty.
I can see how if one listened to (and is a fan) of Ace's version of 2000 Man and had to go back and listen to the Stones' original, you were probably in a bit of shock and thought the Satanic Majesties Request album cut was terrible and wound up scratching your head. I disagree, the original is more indicative of the (LSD) era of which it was produced and where Jagger/Richards were as songwriters at the time. Hate the original or not, hats off to Ace for keeping rocking the song up with his Les Paul (as opposed to the acoustic heavy original) and making his version one of my favorite cover songs of all time and one of Kiss' greatest tracks of the 70's (and without question one of Ace's finest releases).

This was a great comparison. Loved it. The only one we disagreed with was X-Ray Eyes. I picked Beth. It was painful to pick God Of Thunder over Sure Know Something but it had to be done. Do You Love Me is my favorite Kiss song but I also really like Save Your Love. These are my top two favorite Kiss albums. This might be my favorite battle you have done so far. Touch choices! If I don't get another chance, have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Creatures and Dynasty are probably tied for how much play time I give classic Kiss. Anything after Lick It Up is post classic Kiss for me, and those albums get very little play time, except for Revenge, and Unplugged.

Who the f*&# would ever compare Destroyer to Dynasty. Destroyer's a Rock classic and Dynasty is a pop/disco album. For those of us that were around in the 70's know you just can't compare the two, even if as myself like both, I'd never compare them.

Oh man. Tough one. Both atypical 70s albums. Probably the two weirdest. Destroyer is overrated and Dynasty is underrated and gets a bad rap because of one song. It infuriates me when people call it the disco album. Like you said as a whole it's better.
About the only song I really liked off Dynasty was 2000 Man. I think the best part of Dynasty was the cover. It's wrong, but I was Made For lovin You kinda soured the whole album for me. In contrast, the only songs I didn't like on Destroyer was Beth and Great Expectations....I could live with Beth, but Great expectations made me wanna puke.

Sweet Pain Vs Magic Touch..I have to go with sweet pain. I never thought Destroyer was a solid album. I wasn't crazy about Bob Ezrin's productions. every album he was involved with had way to many sound effects not to mention a lot of crap that made the albums nearly impossible to listen to from top to bottom. Dynasty was a pretty damn good album for the flow. nothing killed the flow of that album. I feel the three worse songs on Dynasty were, I was made for loving you, Magic Touch & X-Ray Eyes. but they're still worth hearing and don't kill the flow of the album. however, Destroyer has that crap at the beginning with all the talking and sound effects. Rock & Party, That over produced Beth, Great expectations terrible backing singers. just way over produced. not to mention Ace wasn't on every track. Destroyer had some great tunes, but the album flows worse than any other kiss album up to Dynasty. The only two albums that had a great flow from top to bottom were Alive & Dynasty. I do however think most of Creatures had a good flow, but it also had a couple shit tunes on it too. I hope you have a good holiday season. Peace..
honestly i think i’d take Dynasty over Destroyer. Destroyer has some good tunes but a lot of filler including a candidate for one the worst KISS songs ever: Great Expectations. Dynasty only has 2 tunes i skip over: I Was Made…and Charisma.
Save Your Love and Hard Times are the worst songs ever. Ace has written some great tunes, but the lyrics on both of those songs are laughable. I hated them when I was 12, let alone now. That being said, I think Dynasty was overall a very good album. Paul was hitting it out of the park with Magic Touch and Sure Know Something. Say what you will about I Was Made for Loving You, it was a true hit. However, I think you were a little too kind here. Destroyer is much stronger.

What a slaughter IMO. Destroyer (a top five KISS album) Vs Dynasty (quite possibly the worst KISS album). Not even close. The only song I can stand on Dynasty is Charisma. The rest is pure shit.

Who the f*&# would ever compare Destroyer to Dynasty. Destroyer's a Rock classic and Dynasty is a pop/disco album. For those of us that were around in the 70's know you just can't compare the two, even if as myself like both, I'd never compare them.

Oh man. Tough one. Both atypical 70s albums. Probably the two weirdest. Destroyer is overrated and Dynasty is underrated and gets a bad rap because of one song. It infuriates me when people call it the disco album. Like you said as a whole it's better.
About the only song I really liked off Dynasty was 2000 Man. I think the best part of Dynasty was the cover. It's wrong, but I was Made For lovin You kinda soured the whole album for me. In contrast, the only songs I didn't like on Destroyer was Beth and Great Expectations....I could live with Beth, but Great expectations made me wanna puke.
Hey Doc , I have a video suggestion for ya , do a video of all KISS cover songs they did and compare the original to it. Might be fun. I’m not sure how many covers they have done but it should make a good video.

Sweet Pain Vs Magic Touch..I have to go with sweet pain. I never thought Destroyer was a solid album. I wasn't crazy about Bob Ezrin's productions. every album he was involved with had way to many sound effects not to mention a lot of crap that made the albums nearly impossible to listen to from top to bottom.
Dynasty was a pretty damn good album for the flow. nothing killed the flow of that album. I feel the three worse songs on Dynasty were, I was made for loving you, Magic Touch & X-Ray Eyes. but they're still worth hearing and don't kill the flow of the album. however, Destroyer has that crap at the beginning with all the talking and sound effects. Rock & Party, That over produced Beth, Great expectations terrible backing singers. just way over produced. not to mention Ace wasn't on every track. Destroyer had some great tunes, but the album flows worse than any other kiss album up to Dynasty. The only two albums that had a great flow from top to bottom were Alive & Dynasty. I do however think most of Creatures had a good flow, but it also had a couple shit tunes on it too. I hope you have a good holiday season. Peace..
honestly i think i’d take Dynasty over Destroyer. Destroyer has some good tunes but a lot of filler including a candidate for one the worst KISS songs ever: Great Expectations. Dynasty only has 2 tunes i skip over:
I Was Made…and Charisma.
Save Your Love and Hard Times are the worst songs ever. Ace has written some great tunes, but the lyrics on both of those songs are laughable. I hated them when I was 12, let alone now. That being said, I think Dynasty was overall a very good album. Paul was hitting it out of the park with Magic Touch and Sure Know Something. Say what you will about I Was Made for Loving You, it was a true hit. However, I think you were a little too kind here. Destroyer is much stronger.
