    Randy is my guitar hero. As I’ve gotten older though, I understand that Iommi riffs have so much magic in them. Not just his stuff with Ozzy, but with Dio, Tony Martin, and everything else he does. I really am fascinated with his riffing/musicality/tone. He just has the gift. Can’t explain it.

    My Interest on old OZZY (Solo) or old Black Sabbath Music becomes more Importance again 👍 I just know the Material ! Today I think the Best Time from Ozzy was around 1972 - 1982 ! All the Albums Ozzy did in this Period, are his Best ! From Sabbath Vol. 4 to Ozzy‘s Diary of a Madman + Tribute !
    Love it 👍
    Saw Sabbath also Live in 2016 with Ozzy !
    Ozzy was one of Rock Music Best & Special Singers !
    I just bought the Super Deluxe Edition‘s of Sabotage & Technical Ecstasy and the Live Recordings on these Deluxe Edition’s are awesome 👍

    Yeah, I think it comes down to what sound you want. Tony is the king with killer rhythm riffs. Randy, did play faster and with a lot more energy. Hard for me to pick who was best. But, I think I have to give a slight edge to Tony over Randy. Jake and Zak are great too, but based on the overall percentage of great songs recorded with Ozzy, Tony and Randy are #1 and #1A.

    Tony Iommi is a top 5 ever guitar player for me, and Randy Rhodes is top 10 for sure, great video brother 🤘 If Randy would have not died, I think he might be top 5 ever, his career was so short. Jake E. Lee is definitely right up there with Randy too, seeing him with Ozzy and Badlands was so awesome! I shared this on my Facebook page brother 🤘

    The thing I loved about watching Randy play is that I always felt like he was in 2nd gear. Everything he did looked effortless. Nobody really knew who he was early on during the first tour. I saw the 6th date of the North American Tour and people were there for Ozzy obviously, but we walked out of the show talking about Randy.
    Randy wasn't a huge name when the plane went down. He was getting there, but his legend grew much later, so I can sort of understand the other bands in Florida not saying anything, although it would have been nice if they did. The other bands were probably all drugged up anyways.
    Berne Torme did a heck of a job filling in for Randy. I couldn't believe they didn't cancel the tour. I mainly went to see UFO open up, though I was happy to see Ozzy again. That's when they changed band names from the "Blizzard of Ozz" to just "Ozzy Osbourne" - thanks Sharon. I wasn't happy that the Blizzard of Ozz only played just over an hour on that first tour. They had other material they could've done. I also couldn't believe that they didn't play S.A.T.O. on the 2nd tour. The Diary tour wasn't a whole lot different than the first tour setlist-wise.
    Couldn't believe UFO didn't play Rock Bottom or Doctor Doctor on that tour. Two of their best tunes. That was a Spinal Tap move if there ever was one.

  • @djlehara
    @djlehara 29 дней назад

    Joe Holmes was one of the best EVER. He replaced Jason Becker in Roth's band WITH 2 WEEKS NOTICE, and admittedly had to learn the entire VH/Roth catalog. I caught the Orlando date with Cinderella in 91, 2 weeks into the tour. In 97, my friend Michael Hale was the lighting director for the Ozzmosis Tour. Who is on guitar? Joe Holmes, who joined Ozzy in 96, and again, had 2 weeks to learn all of the Sabbath/Ozzy catalog. BUT, AS A REAL PHYSICAL STUDENT OF RANDY'S WHEN HE WAS A KID, Joe Holmes pulled it off. Fuck yeah.

    Yes. No question. I wasn't surprised when I heard Ozzy say that. As an overall guitarist, innovator, creative force, and songwriter, Iommi is easily the best guitarist Ozzy has ever been in a band with.

  • @paulosicne8498
    @paulosicne8498 Месяц назад +2

    That's no doubt, Iommi was the best / better guitarist Ozzy ever played with in my opinion. I respect a guitar player who is a great songwriter/composer. There's plenty of guitarists that can shred 100 MPH, but they can't write a catchy song to save their lives. And this is just a general comment, this is not a strike against Randy Rhoads. Rhoads composed some great songs in Blizzard Of Ozz (this is what the band should have been called), but I prefer the Sabbath songs better.

    Tony Iommi, Randy and Brad. I never liked the Jake E Lee era. Always loved him as a person but hated his style. I also hate every song on "Bark At The Moon"
    Iommi's riffs are the best. However, Randy's touch of classical, music laid the foundation for many, that came after him.

    The way you feel about Randy is the way i feel about Jake. Love them both big time. Brad Giliis did a phenomenal job on the Speak Of The Devil album. Zack I only love No Rest For The Wicked and a few songs off every other album he did after. Tony Iommi is the king of Riffs so I can see why Ozzy said Tony is the best guitar player he ever worked with.

  • @thunderstruck6585

    Yeah poor Ozzy. Had such poor guitarists to work with through the years. *NOT*!!! Good lord was there ever a guy who had better? David Lee Roth maybe close? Tony Iommi is a god and Randy was priceless. Jake and Zakk were amazing. I didn't follow much of anything after that but the rest were pretty damn good too from what I hear. As you said, if Randy had a longer career writing music as awesome as Blizzard and Diary, he probably would be my favorite. But Tony is incredible and has been doing it for over 55 years and countless albums!!!

    Ozzy is an ASS for saying Iommi is his fav.
    Granted, no Iommi, Ward or Butler, then no BLACK SABBATH (or John Osbourne).
    The '80's came around and Sabbath were pretty much done, REGARDLESS of the great work Ronnie contributed to 'Heaven and Hell'.
    Ozzy had a money gruber behind him and he was FORTUNATE to have met Mr. Randy Rhoads.
    What Randy, Bob Daisley and Ozzy ( Kerslake to a lesser degree) accomplished basically saved hard rock/metal, as well as spearheaded the glam/hair/cock rock/ thrash movement.
    So, without Randy Rhoads basically REINVENTING Ozzy Osbourne, there would not be the utter reverance of Black Sabbath that we see today. Randy's two albums with Osbourne were as pivitable as ANYTHING in setting the course of the PAST(they kept those Sabbath songs alive) as well as the FUTURE of Metal music ( EVERY guitarist RESPECTS R.Rhoads). Sabbath owes Ozzy, Randy, Bob and Lee Kerslake.........they were a very strong bridge that kept the past ( and future) of Black Sabbath going ( as well as influencing millions of guitarists/ musicians 🤘).
    So Ozzy probably should have said it was a tie or something.
