Actually, Ionian Fervor is a very missed ability nowadays, due to how frequently CC is prioritized in the Drafting phase. Old Aatrox only issue was itemisation, he didnt really have much in terms of build diversity or real big viability cuz items were too simple. But now adays, stride breaker i think would be his main item, has everything he could ever want.
I miss old Warwick in a sense. Yeah, he can be a pain to deal with at times (mostly referring to top-lane Warwick), but at the same time, his constant healing was a ton of fun. As was his old Ult.
Old Akali, Galio, and Yorick please. I loved those champions to death. Nothing wrong with new Yorick, but the other 2 don't even play close to same the old ones did.
Honestly I feel like Gwen is just old irelia without the stun. I also miss old graves a lot, he was my second most used champion. He didn't have his current reload mechanic and he was slightly more tanky than the average adc that just gets 1 shot. I'd like to see a video on old Swain when he was decent top laner and not mostly played as support.
The two I miss most are old Karma and the OG Katarina. For Karma I loved being able to bait when she was low health. And I really liked how timing Killer Instincts properly could let you enhance both her Shunpo and Bouncing Blade. Plus having Mortal Wounds on an enhanced basic ability instead of her ult meant I didn't have to full commit to a kill just to reduce healing.
I really miss old Karma. Having choices on whether to use mantra on straight damage, or healing, or a shield or a shield and damage really separated good Karmas from bad. The tether ability was also really neat and I'm sad it was removed with the rework. Riot tried an interactive tether with Rell and that also was eventually removed. The only thing that really needed to be changed with old Karma was her passive. It was fairly generic as passives were back then and just meant less health = more AP. Her mantra'd Q was so fun to throw in to an ongoing team fight to get big damage and big heals for your teammates. I specifically recall the community being mostly unhappy with the rework, because it felt like it reduced her to a single skillshot spamming champion with her new Q. A lot of interesting gameplay choices for the person piloting the champion were lost.
A lot of old champions felt to have a 'less overcomplicated gameplay' and thus being more fun to play. I think the one i miss the most was Urgot. But there are some others that i used to like to play a lot and not anymore: Shen, Akali, Irelia, Warvick...
As an ADC main, I also miss the old Graves. There are these games when I don't know who to play, when I think 'man, old Graves would be awesome right now'. I see how the rework is good though.
I played OG xerath with the self rooting w. It was the one mage that truly made me feel like an artillery piece and his ultimate felt like the fists of an angry god smashing into the earth.
Oh yes! And the joke! power lifting power spawning, power kills, over 400 kills! The sound effects also HIT like a truck, turning mid lane into a nuclear war zone. Jeez i almost forgot this guy, he used to be my fav mage.
I want old azir to be back :( He didn't have a major rework, only smaller ones where they would take away stuff from his kit like his R blocking dashes, or E having knock up on a champion hit.
Sometimes I'd like to be able to play with the old iteration of Azir before season 8. I didn't play back in the day but some of his mechanics back than look like a ton of fun to me. Or Ryze rework number 42069 where he got shields with his combos.
Reworks will always be bittersweet. Even if you like the new version you still lose the old one. I will always miss the old Volibear, hes the first champion I ever picked up when i started league in season 2. I didnt main him but he holds a special place in my heart and its sad knowing I'll never be able to play him again. At the same time I ended up loving the new volibear so much that i swapped to being a top main, and am still loving him. Talon and wukong were 2 big ones that i loved the old versions, but just dont enjoy their new reworks. Wukong is not even a laner anymore due to how strong his double ult is, the rest of his kit had to be nerfed hard. And talon has so much of his power budget built into his E, which i just dont vibe with. I enjoyed his pure combat focus and being a all or nothing assasin(although i do admit he wasnt the healthiest design lol). This was a great video! It was nice to hear your thoughs on some old champs and I attually feel the same about nearly every one you talked about(never kept up with or cared about ryze reworks).
I don't like how ryze is currently, anytime I do a combo the empowered q feels like the weakest part of it and the thing that does the most damage is for some reason the e. It just feels off when the thing that is supposed to be "empowered" feels flaccid.
Old Mordekaiser not being on here feels like a crime, I know a lot of people didn't play him but the people that did play him most quit that's how enjoyable he was. I played him and I even quit for a time. Still, think of him to this day.
I'm so happy for your support on simple yet sophisticated designs, that don't need you to be a lawyer in order to understand. Just like Yu-Gi-Oh, I think that keeping things simple makes everything work just fine. I have designed champions myself (just for fun) and I enjoy simplicity when it meets unique traits. Anyway, from the video I really miss old Irelia but I think they did a splendid job in remaking of all of them. Oh, except from old Aatrox, he needs to be brought back...
Old Taric and Skarner. I mean old, old Skarner where could go AP and heal himself. Pls, bring them back. Their reworks did only reduce they playerbase (beside few instances where the itemization made them broken). Rito pls.
I absolutely agree with old Graves. A friend of mine played him as ADC and it was his main back then. I loved it when he was my carry and i do miss those times.
1:16 Honestly, I think current Aatrox is way unhealthier for the game than the old one was. He's has to go through a ton of balance issues to get him to where he is now, a champ that hardly builds bruiser mythics and instead goes for assassin mythics. His chain of cc is ridiculous considering how much he heals, super unfun to go against even when im winning and is a poorly designed champ as a result
Currently Irelia is still a stat checker, the only thing you can outplay is the stun, which she uses to start a fight, or while on top of you, like darius E. Also, I'd like to say, any champ who right clicks you to death is a stat checker
Stat checkers require set amounts of stats to function/dominate. Irelia isn't one for the sole reason she can dominate from lvl1, and once she gets BotRK it's gg and no way to come back if you fall behind vs her.
I loved playing old Voli as a support. I could flip the enemy into a large minion wave, roar to either chain cc or with the flip or to scare away the ganking jgler or engaging support/adc. Even his passive was great as support. I could all in and either get a kill or burn a lot of sums and deal nice damage, only to heal my health back and either zone the enemy until they back or dive them again for a kill or two. I never found a support that's the same amount of fun to me.
I always missed old gangplank, but i played him support, maxing his E and rushing zekes herald. He could out manoeuvre other supports, won early trades against adc’s, and countered cc with his oranges. Rushing zeks herald and maxing his E gave your adc a +40 ad advantage by level 9, it was some real hard early game domination. I will say i missed old sion for similar support reasons, but that was also conditional on the tank support item at the time. And yeah old mordekaiser was a beast, not to be played by dainty hands. And the bugs he came with were hilarious, its funny how he and viego broke this game so abusively,
I truly miss old Mord, the one before the current iteration. The fact he could be played mid, top, jg, not, support, he was the true definition of a “Flex” pick. And he felt so powerful, and maybe slightly op, but he was also just a fun champ to play. The outplay potential with Q3 and W in wave was so much fun. And then, with old Ryies and Liandries with his ulti, just watching them run and die was so fun. And out ghost dragon buddy… I miss him, and really haven’t touched him since his current iteration.
I really miss old swain. The root was so satisfying to land. Also maokais original kit with the teamwide damage reduction was sick, I miss that, id even accept the reworked version where you could press your r again for damage instead, and it scaled decently off ap, fun times
i hope there will be a game mode where we can play old version of champions again or maybe in the mmo (im so delu i know), i miss old aatrox soooo much
I understand. I have mastery 6 on him so people assume I play him n aram but barely play him anymore and it's kinda worse the that the season I got gold was his victorious skin so it stings a little I got a season skin on a chaml that used to be one of my favorites but isn't even in my pool of champions to pick in any game mode.
@@LightshaverConstellation thing is pre-rework aatrox isnt even OLD aatrox. OLD aatrox was a poke/sustain champ. His rework was a drain tank. His re-re-rework is the "pre-rework" aatrox that was literally impossible to lose with.
Mordekaizer should be brought back, hes he was a buggy mess, but for those who loved him they were left with nothing after the rework as their beloved high skill capped champion was turned into a souless stat sticker. Honestly, the rework I was the most disappointed with.
I think something to add is that the champions themselves don't necessarily need to come back, moreso their kit and playstyle. Like in the case of old Aatrox, his kit could work really well with a whip-user, like the bladed whip that Hoslo uses in Elden Ring (since they were already inspired by the Urumi after seeing it in ER (lets not kid anyone, nobody knew what an urumi was until Elden Ring did it)) especially for the stanced W where they can switch between extracting and expending health with each auto, and a more fluid weapon would work much better visually for an attack speed oriented champ (lets be real Aatrox practically glitched out with high attack speed swinging that giant sword around). They could be another Darkin or a product of noxian blood magic like vlad, sion, briar, etc. or maybe even something a bit more off the wall (though I think Darkin & blood magic fits best).
I'd like the old Taric and Urgot to come back, playing Taric Support with more offensive combat in mind was always fun, plus his Gem theme was very unique. Urgot was fun also as Support with a Tanky poke build focusing on Slowing Enemies and shredding their defenses. (Also Gem Knight Taric was my Main back in the day so some bias here.) But I don't like how Riot Games said they wanted Volibear to be more than "An Armored Polar Bear running at you..." When he's still just a Polar Bear running at you post rework, only now there's no armor. Also Old Maokai ult was a OP AF on ARAM.
I miss old Galio I was playing im Top and support.. yes support. I had a good win rate with it aswell. Only time i wasn't picking him, is when there was an udyr or a blitzcrank. His Ultimate was a good game changer, could win us a game by a good Ult. His W countered dots damage and he felt way more of an anti-mage than he is now. They picked Singed/Teemo/Malzhaar/Old Swain? no problem , i'll counter you with Galio. The new galio feel less unique as a champion as pre-rework. He lost his true identity as being an anti-mage, wich i think is a shame, since there is no more of TRUE anti-mage in the game. There is 2 good anti-melee champion , in Malphite and Rammus. We need an anti-mage.
Old Aurelion Sol. Even though I never played him I saw gameplay of him and it seems so much cooler than the new one (also much more skill expressive). Sure, he had a very low pick rate but the Onetricks really got screwed over with a complete Rework of all Abilities, basically deleting A-sol and introducing a new Champion.
The worst part is it comes off to riot as a good rework - because New Asol is an amazing champ and I love him. But he's not old Asol at all. He's just a new champ based on the hit LoR card Aurelion Sol.
He was fun in Aram but there was too many ways to counter play him easily. His ult was weak for long cooldown ability and you could literally just sit in melee range and his kit did little to no damage.
@@Lilp2020 The only gameplay I ever saw of Old A-Sol was from the RUclipsr "Sol" and that seemed pretty fun. I believe he reached Masters Onetricking Aurelion.
I miss old Eve and old Aatrox a lot. Eve was just fun to play with smite and Ghost in the support role and just make the enemy jungler feel miserable. Aatrox was my favourite splitpusher as his ult's attack speed buff just allowed him to take turrets in no-time + with the relatively short cooldown, you could just rinse&repeat it pretty often.
old yi, particularly AP YI - i would like sword-mage champion that reflects that playstyle of going for short skirmishes before going in the reset multikills
I wish my SOraka back that got reworked back in Season 4. She was my first Main Support Champion. I really dislike her new playstyle. the old one had a way stronger heal, but with high Colldown instead. And giving Mana was so much fun, for some reason Yuumi has this now.
Back in the day, Faker used to tout that every midlaner should learn Ryze and Twisted Fate. Ryze because it teaches about simple button combos and Twisted Fate because it teaches you to look at the map. However, Ryze can no longer be the gateway for new players to learn button press orders because there are aspects of his kit that make it hard to focus on JUST the buttons.
OLD RYZE!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH i miss desperate power so fucking much. the portal is cool and you can make interesting plays with it but.............. I WANT MY AOE BOOMBA!
As an emerald Ryze main, despite being a massive fan of Realm Warp, I think only brining back desperate power would be cool. I like his new playstyle with the different combos for different situations so I wouldn't want that to change

This hits me in the feels because my old toplane pool was aatrox, irelia, swain akali. Now my toplane pool is lillia, sej, kayn, renekton.
Gwen isn't similar to old Irelia except for the ult, that's the only similarity between them.
I miss old urgot man, was one of the few adcs that felt completely unique
I'd like to see old Xerath back, but his W self-root would probably need a channel time decrease per skill level. But he'd be solid otherwise.
old voli was my favorite, one of my favorite passives of all time
I miss old Aatrox 😥
You mean the real Aatrox. Also same todays items and runes would work ok with him.
So do I, brother, so do I...
Wish we could get a new darkin with his old kit or similar at least we have the gameplay again
Yall miss him only when he became broken during his final month pre-rework.
I used to play him AP mid, so I miss that play style.
Old Irelia ult was brought back and given to Gwen, also I miss my old Swain and Asol =[.
A lot of interesting gameplay choices for the person piloting the champion were lost.
miss when riot did relativly simple champion like olaf xin jax, not like today when every new champ is overloaded and 200years
A lot of old champions felt to have a 'less overcomplicated gameplay' and thus being more fun to play. I think the one i miss the most was Urgot. But there are some others that i used to like to play a lot and not anymore: Shen, Akali, Irelia, Warvick...
i miss old urgot.... well not his ult but the rest of his kit
His ult was insane for set UPS.. Especially with the fear for 1.5 secs
@@unknownname6519 yeah you could set up a forced tower dive or Our own death in 3 seconds
I want old azir to be back :(
He didn't have a major rework, only smaller ones where they would take away stuff from his kit like his R blocking dashes, or E having knock up on a champion hit.
I miss old Taric :(.
Same, especially top
Gems :(
i miss old yorick he was my main until quinns rework
I would love to play old voli again. Majestic roar was so fun to use. Stopping insecs or riven Knock ups, lucian dashes. god it was fun 😞
That's why I advocate to just make a new champion and let the old one be
I don't like how ryze is currently, anytime I do a combo the empowered q feels like the weakest part of it and the thing that does the most damage is for some reason the e. It just feels off when the thing that is supposed to be "empowered" feels flaccid.
Old Yorick would be so fun to play with today's runes and items, old Galio could also work so well.
Not a champ but I want old reksai ult it’s just so cool imo
I want old Mord back, they turn a fun niche champ into AP Darius, truely a crime worst than death
Old asol was so much fun genuinely
its kind of a wierd take, but i absulotly LOVED fiddlestix's bonus movement speed after standing still
Fiddles old dark wind was such a dope ability
Absolutely. His rework is easily my favorite to date but switch out his new E with his old one and he is perfect@@Watch_over_us
Old Mordekaiser not being on here feels like a crime, I know a lot of people didn't play him but the people that did play him most quit that's how enjoyable he was. I played him and I even quit for a time. Still, think of him to this day.
Normal Aurelion Sol should come back. He never should have been removed from the game to begin with
i've never clicked so fast on a video in my life, i wish to see old urgot and old aatrox in the list
Old Kog’maw will be nice you know
I'm so happy for your support on simple yet sophisticated designs, that don't need you to be a lawyer in order to understand.
Rito pls.
1:28 Well everyone has a past 1:32 Well, that caught me off guard lol, didn't think you were a Horsewomen main
I miss machine gun ryze. That was so fun, but I admit it was problematic. I hate his current ult.
Great video, I really wish old Galio was on the list though.
Old akali was pretty well designed compared to many other champions and i still prefer her over new akali
Once again - A very cool video. Very interesting to watch.
Modern Graves's mana costs make most ap casters laugh, not gonna lie.
Damn. The old Ryze looks fun as heck
Which old Ryze?
Old poppy was fun with shiv triforce and IE, change my mind.
Also I miss 1v1ing people top with old taric 😂
And out ghost dragon buddy… I miss him, and really haven’t touched him since his current iteration.
i miss old fiddlesticks and mundo most, they were just better to play by me, and fiddlesticks W actually did damage and healed
I came here to say that you didn't cover Galio pre-rework, and I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who misses our old anti-mage.
I really miss old swain. The root was so satisfying to land. Also maokais original kit with the teamwide damage reduction was sick, I miss that, id even accept the reworked version where you could press your r again for damage instead, and it scaled decently off ap, fun times
i hope there will be a game mode where we can play old version of champions again or maybe in the mmo (im so delu i know), i miss old aatrox soooo much
Riot said no and also shut down Legacy League projects, by the community.
@@nathanc939 yeah i know, thats why i say im delusionnal, one day trust me
Aatrox my beloved… 1 million + points on him pre-rework. I’ll never forget
I would say that old Aatrox in the form of a new champion and old Ryze.
old Aatrox going full ap jumping into five people and pressing R with Luden's proccing on them all, oneshotting half their team was super fun.
I can only imagine how much id spam aatrox in sr if he comes back 😭
You've been nominated for an Amazing present❤
I want Old A-Sol back so I can play that dancing battlemage again. I’m not satisfied with how he turned out in his now current iteration.
Mordekaizer should be brought back, hes he was a buggy mess, but for those who loved him they were left with nothing after the rework as their beloved high skill capped champion was turned into a souless stat sticker. Honestly, the rework I was the most disappointed with.
For me it was old Karma. I just liked healing a lot, she is who got me into playing support... I dont like shields, so I was sad about the rework
I want to see old ASol come back, if only so the ASol mains will have the champion they spent years learning to perfect back
I miss Old Ryze and Old Aatrox😭
Im glad im not the only person out there that still miss's old irelia, the new one just doesnt scratch that itch
I like how you use hsr soundtrack in league of legends videos, I enjoy it :3
I miss old Galio
I was playing im Top and support.. yes support.
We need an anti-mage.
i miss old aatrox and old urgot, i used to main both of them
Swain, Akali and Katarina are the ones I miss. I know Akali and Kat were no brain faceroll in their old version, but that's exactly why I loved them
I knew Graves was reworked to jungle, but I had no idea that his shotgun wasn’t a mechanic he always had.
The worst is that instead of addressing the problem that old Asol had, they just got rid of him, which heartbroke me 😢
He was fun in Aram but there was too many ways to counter play him easily.
@@cetofox the one I followed was Quantum Fizzics and Liaphine (who stopped playing which is sad)
Yeah, I really miss old Soraka. Her old Q was sooo fun.
Old Urgot, genuinely the only champion I miss loved the play style of being a slow moving artillery's unit that also was fairly tanky thanks to passive
I miss old kayle that isn't a minion early game and can waveclear with one E
You've been nominated for an Amazing present❤
I used to love playing the wonky champions, Old urgot, old swain, old yorick, q spam raka top... ap master yi, ap trist... both ad and ap sion... good times.
