- The Hole in the Wall is the Old Hippie equivalent of The Broken Spoke, both Austin Institutions and Landmarks with an intense musical history. I sat at the bar with Willie's tour manager on two different afternoons. That's the kind of place this is.
George, the closest I ever got to Austin is "Austin City Limits" on PBS tv, but your
videos make it look inviting!.
Just few blocks from my exapartment, the best hamburguers!!! and amazing bands.....!!!
01/06/2023,,,Was there in Fall of 1976 Partying. Dont remember who was playing,,i think it was Open Mic nite. i did go back a dozen+ times. Seen Doug Sahm at Armadillo,,even met Darrell Royal!! A buddy from Ft.Hood was a football freak and I drove Him down to Austin from Ft.Hood. Never knew who He was then!!!! I was 17 and looking for some U.T. TUSH✌🏼
I was very upset when the managers decided they didn't want to run Hole-in-the-Wall anymore and the place almost went under. I was very glad to see that the place was taken up and stayed the same bar. I still have a sad place in my heart from when they destroyed Liberty Lunch, which was the place where I saw my first concert(The Violent Femmes, a life changing musical experience) at the age of 12.
We lost the Hole In The Wall Saloon, Thermopolis Wy. Tom Skinner`s bar. The actual bar is in the museum. Torn down to build a bank. Once the watering hole for the Wild Bunch. Butch and Sundance.
i've heard about this liberty lunch place. what the hell is it? sandwiches and beer?
