    1) sleep at a particular time
    2) don't use alarms if possible
    3) Wake up with the sun
    4) avoid caffiene
    5) excercise regularly
    6) don't nap after 3 pm
    7) don't drink alcohol
    8) avoid large meals at night
    9) reduce light before sleep
    10) cool yo body temp before sleeping
    11) don't rely on sleeping pills
    12) don't lie on bed trying to sleep for more than 20min

      I have a splash proof iPhone and I always listen to podcast and language learning RUclips clips when I take showers - so yes you can be productive while showering 🤣 Unless you take showers not to cleanse but to relax - then definitely just unplug and enjoy the moment. Getting your mental health in check and relax when you should IS being productive.

    Caffeine exception for anyone with ADHD or mental disorder that requires stimulants for mental stability.
    Sleeping pills exception for anyone with with insomnia waking or keeping them up constantly during the night. Talk with your doctor of course.

    Great thanks for these tips. I am really bad with sleep and need to improve this for sure. One thing i do which helps me is white noise in the background or raindrop noise i put on which helps me sleep.

    Great content as usual Ali ! Thanks for sharing! The only point that I don't agree completely is the ''avoid alcohol completely'', I think that most people watching this video probably knows already that alcohol in large quantities is harmful for us, but at the same time if you are able to control yourself and have a couple of drinks before bed actually relaxes you and even better if you share the time spent with friends, I am talking by experience

    I read the book two years ago and it completely changed the way I sleep (and therefore my life). Everyday, I still think of the advices given in this book.

    Summary of the video:
    1. Always make a to do list of the things you need to do in your sleep BEFORE you go to bed, that way you will always have an idea of your sleep tasks.
    2. Make a dream schedule, that way you'll always know what to dream about at what time of the night.
    3. Make sure to take breaks from your sleep! Our brain is the most productive in chunks so don't tire yourself out too much! Sleep in sessions of 1-2 hours, wake up and study for 15 minutes and get back to sleeping.
    4. Keep your phone away, you don't want to sleep-scroll on instagram when you're trying to be productive.
    5. Take notes reviewing your sleep performance and how well you do your sleep tasks. This will give you an idea on where your sleep strengths and sleep weaknesses are.

      The problem is I’m getting 6.5-7 hours a day but just yesterday I slept at 9:00pm which was the earliest in probably a month by like 2-2.5 hours since I started my journey yesterday; I’m typing this comment at the time I woke up at 2:30am to do prayers for 0.5 hours and then resleep

      They (you know who is they) say you need 6-8 hours of sleep.
      Like. Shut up man. Just say you need 8. You don’t need to scam people. Whenever I get 6-7 hours of sleep (in some cases 7.5 hours) I still feel tired. I only don’t feel tired when I get enough sleep or oversleep.
      These sleep websites scammed me man 🤣 Nevermind I’m getting 9 hours starting today.

    ‘Matthew Walker’s “Why We Sleep” Is Riddled with Scientific and Factual Errors” - blogpost by a biologist named Alexey Guzey, can’t link it, but worth reading as it points out many big things claimed in this book, including that short sleep leads to shorter life span (false).
    Also points out how it’s kind of harmful to suggest someone who is fine off of 6hr sleep should instead sleep 8. Effectively robs them of 1/12th of their life.

    How can we sleep better?
    1. Set a sleep schedule and try and follow it everyday
    2. Don't use alarms if you can help it
    3. Wake up with the sun
    4. Avoid caffeine or nicotine at all if you can or within 10hours to sleep
    5. Exercise regularly
    6. Don't nap after 3.pm
    7. Don't drink alcohol until it's completely matobolised By the time you sleep
    8. Avoid large meals and drinks at night
    9. Reduce light before sleep
    10. Cool your body temperature before sleeping
    11. Don't rely on sleeping pills
    12. Don't lie in bed awake. Sleep within 20 minutes Of getting into bed
    (Instead of saying number 12 you said number 10😂)

    Pre med student here. How did you handle or avoid sleep deprivation in med school? I've heard stories about people sleeping as little as 4 hours a night in residency and I know that's not sustainable
