Love you Dr. Malik! It was great seeing you on this video. Thanks for your channel which is a great source of reproductive health information for both genders.
Thank you MDJ! I didn't know about bromelain in powder form but I love taking it as a supplement before and after medical procedures, sclerotherapy injections and even for botox injections and it helps soooo much with bruising and healing time!!
I have a pretty strong feeling that our chemist friends would disagree with your peppermint tip, unfortunately. You would be changing the formula without knowing how it reacts with the oil, or how the oil affects the preservative system. I'm sure you can mix the oil and gloss on your hand, but never introduce it into the bottle itself.
I've heard the vaporub solution you suggested before, but my problem is the nail I'd like to treat is the thumb on my dominant hand and it's so inconvenient to do this solution! Either I'm freestyling greasy goop on my dominant hand or I've got a bandage covering it, but then I've got an annoying sticky covering on my dominant thumb...

hey! i know this was done to help viewers out but mike probably but a lot of time into making this video for us, and by giving a cheat sheet it kinda robs him of the attention it deserves
I love how dr mike doesnt see other medical specialists on youtube as competition (for views), but rather as colleagues. It really shows how his true goal is to educate. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉🎉
This is something that I've always found fascinating with physicians, they really often tend to have so much respect for each other! My parent is a physician and didn't have a really friendly personnality all around. But put him near colleagues and he will radiate joy ! he would be beaming and excitedly share stories and pats in the back that was something lol
I'm not sure how a doctor could ever see another doctor as competition. The one thing I could imagine is doctors getting angry about other doctors spreading misinformation.
Pharmacist here! Some tips: 1. Set alarms for your medication reminders 2. put alerts in your phone for refill time. 3. associate your medication times with something you do every day without fail (like brushing your teeth) 4. Keep a list of medications, how you take them, and why in your wallet behind your driver’s license. 5. Make sure you tell your pharmacist everything you take regardless of if it is prescription or not and where you fill it. They need to check it against each other and will likely have tips on when to take each one!
Having a list behind my license (mine's on hot pink) helped the pros help me when I was incapable of speaking for myself. I've recovered and you just reminded me to update the list!
Personally, as a big dude with back pain, that tidbit about weight and back pressure being related was a huge encouragement for me to lose weight. Thank you to everyone who participated in this video.
So many medicine heroes in one video! Thanks for facilitating this collaboration Dr. Mike. My favorite take-away was Dr. Jessi Gold - As physicians we need to check in with ourselves to avoid burnout. I would love to do Urogynecology tips if you do a round two 🙋🏻♂.
The use if ICE after injury is NOT evidence based. I really like the video, and idea of collaboration. But am a little shocked that a sports physician is still disseminating old school treatments that have been debunked. Ice can reduce swelling if used in the first couple hours after injury, but has been proven to delay the healing process, and use of it is not in line with current best practices. If you want to reduce swelling, use compression and elevation. Any modern and evidence based physiotherapist can tell you this, but we often still get patients entering clinics that have been told by their doctor to "ICE it". If you want to see current best practices after an acute injury, just google "Peace and love injury", and you will see the abbreviation for current reccomendations.
The fact you had a mental health professional along side the physical ones really made my day! Mental health is just as important and I love that you show it with this video
As a medical student, i am so happy to hear from all the famous doctors and specialists about their tips, i mean these guys have the world knowledge of their specialties yet it all boils down to the basics that even a layman would know. The difference is they realize the true importance of these basics and how deeply they can impact our or somone else’s life. All excelent reminders
Great video - here's an idea. Gather together these or other doctors to debunk myths related to their field. I'm sure Dr. Jones could talk for at least an hour on her specialty alone lol! Also, as someone who worked as a pharmacy tech many moons ago, I add my vote to talking to the support personnel involved in healthcare for their tips too!
More people need to thumbs up this comment. We need more doctor myth busting. There is FAR too much misinformation out there. It would be great to have at least a few of the doctors you had on here for maybe a round table on medical misinformation. cheers
I just use really cold water. And then throw them in the wash. Works as well. I have really bad periods and bleed through at least one pair of pjs every cyle.
I think part of the problem is that you can't rinse off all stains. Like when it seeps into the mattress. No amount of meat tenderizer is going to dig out the blood. .-.
As a fellow physician, its always nice to see ACTUAL medical advice from such great doctors. All of us having to fight the amounts of mis- or disinformation one at a time - this is a good Start!
Right, but having physicians say it out loud to others helps solidify that information and it reaches more people. You can't have too much good information.
I loved this so much. As a breast surgeon with breast cancer who’s starting out on RUclips it was awesome to see all these great medics share their tips x
You just earned a subscribe from me doc! As a Liberal Arts graduate, who’s considering going to med school as well, I think your content would be a great help to me too. Good luck on your youtube channel! 😊
I think the meat tenderizer on the blood stain was the best hack I heard in this. Most of the others, I already knew of and some just seemed superfluous like the doctor wasn’t trying to give away the secrets to how to be healthier and not have to see someone who specializes in what that field of medicine, in the future. I do appreciate the physicians who told us how to steer clear of damaging our bodies and healthy habits to adopt.
I just want to say, as someone who is very scared of doctors (and has a phobia of needles), watching videos of doctors like you guys on RUclips really makes me feel so much better. You are all so helpful and sweet, and it makes me feel so much more comfortable knowing yall are just people trying to help people be healthier and happier. ❤
Colon cancer killed a very close friend of mine. He was going into Med school, with very good grades, and his mother was a GI specialist. No one expected it when colon cancer took his life, and I felt terrible for her. I couldn’t imagine losing your son to the very thing you specialize in preventing. RIP.
I like that the last guy included marijuana cigarettes too. For some reason, a lot of people think tobacco cigarettes are the only cigarettes that can cause lung cancer.
EXACTLY! And that he included vaping as well. I think most people think that vaping is safe and is not harmful. It may be safer, in some way, than tobacco cigarettes but they are still not healthy or something that you should do.
Putting marijuana on par with processed tobacco products is disingenuous. I doubt many people are denying the marijuana smoke may cause cancer. It's common knowledge now that SMOKING (and vaping) is bad. But the people you're referring to probably just mean that tobacco products have much more carcinogens than marijuana.
@@Brickswolhe said can cause inflammation of the lungs, but a pop up had a note about lung cancer. So idk if he was talking about cancer, or just an inflammatory condition such as bronchitis
@@Brickswol I mean sure tobacco is less healthy, but I don't really think that matters in this context. Any kind of smoking is not something your body is designed to do and has potential to lead to health problems. What you do is your choice, but the end result has potential be be exactly the same.
@@BrickswolI have had people tell me straight up that they smoke weed as an alternative to cigarettes, and that it was helping them clean their lungs...don't underestimate the ignorance of the general population. That isn't meant to be snarky toward anyone, but many people do not realize that the risk of marijuana is non-zero. Cigarettes are likely the worst for lung cancer due to the additives, but all forms are still risky.
I was hoping to see Elliott Carthy, but now I've got a whole new channel to look at. More importantly, psychiatry is a core part of medicine and I'm glad to see it treated as such.

This is the type of content that is really useful on such platforms! Thank you to all the doctors who made an appearance, and thank you doc mike for taking the initiative! 💓
i love the diversity of doctors in this video. it shows that anybody can be a doctor, regardless of their age, sex, nationality, etc. it makes me happy to know that there are people like me who have been successful too
I will forever be grateful to all the the oncologists and radiologists out there. Y’all are helping to save my dad and it means the whole world to my family and I. Edit: my dad had his surgery last week and he is cancer free now! Thank you for all of the kind words, it means a lot
i would love to hear from an endocrinologist, i go with one because of insulin resistance (which i knew because of derm), and all the tips he gives me have changed my life
This is an awesome idea. It’s so refreshing to see people who are actually trained and qualified to give health advice rather than the normal social media quackery
Thank you, Melanie de Jesus! It's indeed refreshing to have trained and qualified professionals providing reliable health advice. This initiative helps counter the overwhelming amount of social media quackery, promoting accurate information and ensuring the well-being of individuals. Kudos to the team for their valuable contributions! 👩⚕💯🌟
Love this video, so I wanted to add my input too 😊 I work in reception and appointments for a primary care office, which means I help patients and doctors coordinate their care plans for health maintenance. I am also part of our Hospital Emergency Response Team, which means in the event of a mass casualty event, I help to provide critical care and support to patients affected by an incident. My biggest tip would be as follows: be a proactive participant in healthcare. This means having all your information and documentation together and up-to-date (such as med lists, Power of Attorney, and so on.) But also, seek out emergency response training, such as Stop The Bleed training, Hands-Only CPR, Narcan training, Basic Life Support and First Aid, and so on. I hope I never need to use it, but having that knowledge has made me more confident and ready so I won’t freeze up.
OMG!!! That whole weight thing and back issues, is so spot on! I used to weigh almost 400 pounds 12 years ago. I have back pain. Thigh pain. My whole body was out of whack. I started exercising and making my nutrition my priority. 12 and a half years later, I lost almost 200 pounds without surgery. I’ve had three complete knee replacements. I feel like a rockstar now.🥇🥇🥇
I once ran across a comment -- I think on a video critiquing the "Healthy at Any Size" movement -- that basically said "admit it, the only reason you would want to lose weight is so you look nice for other people." I have yet to put this together, but I plan to make a blog post that is like 50 reasons I'd like to lose weight... none of which have anything to do with how others see me (I have those motivations too, they're just not anywhere near the top of the list), and most of which are just how uncomfortable and physically limiting it is to be 300 lbs. Why anyone would think this is purely a social issue, or that excess weight has no objective reason to be undesirable, is beyond me.
Dr. Glaucomflecken is my favorite! My whole life, my mom has worked in medical administration. She’s worked for OBGYNs, pediatricians, neurologists, general surgeons, and currently works for orthopedic surgeons and his skits about all of these doctors are all painfully accurate. Especially the ortho bros (who are really the nicest guys).
As a Latina, I can say that the Latin community appreciates you all, but especially Dr. Dana Brems for the Vapor Rub hack (I bet an abuelita somewhere knew this already 😂) Loveeeeee all the tips. Please do a few more ❤❤❤
Thank you for being the dedicated, thoughtful, and compassionate doctor that you are Dr. Mike. You and a few other doctors on RUclips inspired me to go back to school this fall, in my 30s. This was video is one of your best of all time. I wish most of us cared about our health like how these doctors do.
I returned to school a couple of years ago, also in my 30s, aiming for med school in a few years! Congrats on making the choice to go back, stay dedicated (and be realistic/gentle with yourself, don't trip on trying to fit it into a particular "normal" timeline, that's my biggest weakness anyway) and you can do anything you put your mind to!
@The plural is actually "asparageese". Appreciate you for this. Seems like we share the same weakness. I'm always aiming very high and fail to accomplish the goal. I thought I should start my journey of becoming a nurse and see where life goes from there. I wish you the very best in life, my friend. I can't wait for us to achieve our goals.
The advice about not gaining too much weight because it puts a lot of pressure on the spine was soooo helpful! I gained 8 kilograms (German here 😅) during the pandemic. I'm still healthy and in the normal BMI range but my back started hurting pretty badly at some point. Good to know that it could be because of me gaining weight 🤔
I think an other one for the back is to stay somewhat active. I think we're more and more sedentary (we stay sitted at a desk during the day, then we go back home and sit in front of the computer or the TV, etc.). I mostly work from home (I'm a teacher who gives online classes) but some weeks I have traditionnal classes. The difference on my back is major!
Yeah, I had back issues even if I'm relatively young (2 intervetebral disks ruptured), and I've been advised to lose weight although it's really hard... I only take one meal a day and still struggle to lose any weight. I should exercise more but I struggle to do it too, for others reasons too...
By far the best video I have ever seen on RUclips I just wish it was longer or became a series anyway great Job Dr. Mike for calling in the gang to execute this
It makes me so happy to see all the other doctors. I’ve been having GI problems lately and seeing a lot of doctors and it’s nice to be reminded that they are unique to the problems I’m having and truly interested in my health.
Got a colonoscopy done this last March for issues with food not digesting well and accidents. I'm 26 with part of my colon removed due to nerves in my intestines not working when I was born. Luckily during the short procedure they didn't find anything bad and all normal. Back to the drawing board but happy I don't have cancer.❤
As someone struggling for doctors to believe my dental is affecting my medical and being stuck toothless for over a year… I really appreciate this video: thank you so much. ❤
Your teeth are super connected with the rest of your body. If you're having dental problems there's a chance it's causing pain or problems else where. I hope you get the help you're seeking soon.
@@BallistikKitty my prosthodontist and maxillofacial specialist even wrote a report for the doctors, I don’t have a family doctor right now, and I’ve brought this report to the ER and clinics and even getting a doctor to hold this report is difficult. I’ve had migraines almost everyday since October 2021 among other things and unfortunately all dental work is halted until my health is sorted😭 Thank you so much for your kind words, I really feel validated honestly. ❤️
same. it's really nuts how dental isn't covered by medical insurance, and how much dental care is considered "cosmetic." i have so many broken teeth that cause me so much pain but i can't even afford to get them pulled because it would cost thousands...
@@dietotaku this!!! I was 19 when I was given the option okay either a denture or try to save them… it was going to cost much much more to save them. I still have no permanent upper teeth, but a temp denture for aesthetics and have spent close to 5K ( in Canada) and my quote for my full mouth rehabilitation is 16K that they expect in 3 sums… like who can afford that?! Even just a general appointment is so expensive for proper hygiene care, it’s none sense
@@natsdentureadventure hope you’re doing better soon. That’s so harsh because the past few generation of migraine medications have really been something, they work (when taking the right one for how severe the migraines are). Then and then there’s botox for migraines which are uncontested. Hope all works out, but if for some reason you’re having difficulty getting to a neurologist or even primary (maybe) for migraines, would be cool if you try magnesium supplements (choose the right one though… most are really just dieuretics😂. Some formulations are legit prescribed for that purpose). A US agency says under like 400 mg daily is safe for men (don’t remember women, 350?). Every one’s a bit deficient in the west, but if you ever get random foot cramps you really need it. If you try it for a week and it helps somewhat let me know lol, all the research on the migraine vs Magnesium is a bit old if I recall
I am in no way affiliated with the medical field, but I'm subscribed to at least 4 doctors in this video. You got almost all of my favorite RUclips doctors! Thanks, this was a great video!
Hey Dr. Mike, I would love to see some more representation for pharmacists. They're a key figure in every healthcare team, yet they always go unnoticed. Would love to see some videos with a pharmacist to educate people about the role of pharmacists!
This might be the best RUclips video ever, when it comes to health! So happy that I already knew some of these doctors and now I found a few new specialists I can follow 🤩🙌
I think it would be pretty cool if doctor Mike can get a few medical experts to give us one recommendation each on improving what ever field they work in, but in a way that's like one expert on your hands, one on your arms and so on (pretty stupid example.) My point being is that I would love to hear one tip for every part of the body.
Hey my name is Rocky and I am counselling psychologist. First of all thank you Dr. Mike and all the other doctors for their amazing advice, hope it helps many of us😌😌. And also anyone who is reading this, likes a free advice for their mental health, I'll say that if you are someone who feels anxious or feel sad or depressed or have some kind of mood disorder or just stressed out of life in general, spending time in nature, I mean the more greener the better can help you tremendously. It doesn't always have to be a forest hike or a beach day, it can be as simple as taking a break and just going outside to just breath the fresh air, get some sunlight etc. Hope it helps and have a great day ahead or good night 😂😂😂
I heard getting plenty of sunlight helps dopamine production and stuff, but just my curiosity why does nature helps calm our feelings or mood? other than how it feels relaxing (is thete any science behind it? or is it all just a feeling thing)
@@flip8895 Yes what you heard is correct. And idk the full biology behind the connection between nature and humans, preferably a evolutionary biologist will be better able to explain that to you. But I'll tell you what I have personally learned and experienced. So the outer nature, whether you refer to wildlife or forest or mountains or beaches, are as much part of human life than we tend to realize in this modern life. Also if we look at our ancestors, even close to thousands of years back, nature played a vital role in our survival; everything we needed, we got from nature. That's why when we talk about basic human needs food and water come first, followed by sleep and sex (sex so that we don't go extinct) And when we spend time in nature those primal instinct gets kicked in. For humans the most natural thing to do is, be in nature coz that's what we have been doing for thousands of years. That's why even painting ones room in shades of green tend to be calming since it reflects the nature, that's why we still have pets, we don't need them but they support us emotionally and sometimes physically coz this bond was created by our ancestors. Plus today's lifestyle and economical growth/constraints have made this access to nature much more difficult. Like its bizzar that government has to place down rules for people to get sunlight access coz if not someone might build a building right next to your window(NYC 🗽) or artificial lights go on 24/7 disrupting sleep cycle (Mumbai). Now there are good things which this growth has done by getting people more closer to nature where in the past they'll have to travel long distances. Like aquarium, wildlife reservation etc. And also we have some much information about how we can protect it and flourish it. There is so much I can say but the comment section is limited 😂😂😂 so hope you got a idea about it. Hope it helps, have a great day/night ahead 🤝🏽😊
I went to see a nurse once because I thought I had something stuck in my ear and she told me my ear drum was too clean and to stop using cotton buds 😂 It wasn’t even an ear problem in the end, it was the eustachian tube popping, but I definitely don’t stick things in my ears anymore
This was so awesome! Yes, yes, yes to not smoking!! I did it for almost 20 years, but smoke free now for almost 5 years. Not smoking has been a game changer for my body.

Another tip for the blood stains mentioned by Mama Dr Jones, Poroxide actually works if you dont rub it in, the bubbling pulling it out of most clothing, but it has to be fresh. And for most people curious how i know this, i used to have chronic nose bleeds due to high blood pressure and i had to find a way to clean a lot of shirts.

Either I'm freestyling greasy goop on my dominant hand or I've got a bandage covering it, but then I've got an annoying sticky covering on my dominant thumb...

I love how dr mike doesnt see other medical specialists on youtube as competition (for views), but rather as colleagues. It really shows how his true goal is to educate. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎉🎉🎉
@@p-__ Interesting unit of measuring your greatness😂😂
This is something that I've always found fascinating with physicians, they really often tend to have so much respect for each other! My parent is a physician and didn't have a really friendly personnality all around. But put him near colleagues and he will radiate joy ! he would be beaming and excitedly share stories and pats in the back that was something lol
I'm not sure how a doctor could ever see another doctor as competition. The one thing I could imagine is doctors getting angry about other doctors spreading misinformation.

@@Shade01982 maybe not in their normal practices, but in terms of youtube views i can see how they could be “competition”
Pharmacist here! Some tips:
1. Set alarms for your medication reminders
2. put alerts in your phone for refill time.
3. associate your medication times with something you do every day without fail (like brushing your teeth)
4. Keep a list of medications, how you take them, and why in your wallet behind your driver’s license.
5. Make sure you tell your pharmacist everything you take regardless of if it is prescription or not and where you fill it. They need to check it against each other and will likely have tips on when to take each one!
Pharmacists are the backbone of the medical community. I trust my local pharmacist more than my physician with some things!
Having a list behind my license (mine's on hot pink) helped the pros help me when I was incapable of speaking for myself. I've recovered and you just reminded me to update the list!
Excellent advise !
I do all of these without fail! It really helps! One, two, and three are especially helpful when you have ADHD and tend to forget things easily!
Very good advice! I need to keep a list with me.

Yes I would like to have seen from you because of your specialty! Especially since I have surgery June 16 😬

It would be great to have at least a few of the doctors you had on here for maybe a round table on medical misinformation. cheers

Use body soap to clean the stain, no matter fresh or old stain. It works wonder. Clothes detergent didn't work as much
If you wear contact lens, contact lens solution (any saline solution) actually also helps lift blood stains too

I think the meat tenderizer on the blood stain was the best hack I heard in this.

I work in reception and appointments for a primary care office, which means I help patients and doctors coordinate their care plans for health maintenance.

I feel like a rockstar now.🥇🥇🥇
I once ran across a comment -- I think on a video critiquing the "Healthy at Any Size" movement -- that basically said "admit it, the only reason you would want to lose weight is so you look nice for other people."
I have yet to put this together, but I plan to make a blog post that is like 50 reasons I'd like to lose weight... none of which have anything to do with how others see me (I have those motivations too, they're just not anywhere near the top of the list), and most of which are just how uncomfortable and physically limiting it is to be 300 lbs. Why anyone would think this is purely a social issue, or that excess weight has no objective reason to be undesirable, is beyond me.

@The plural is actually "asparageese".
If you're still within the normal BMI range you should get that checked out.
Weight causing back pain is a myth.

That's why when we talk about basic human needs food and water come first, followed by sleep and sex (sex so that we don't go extinct)
And when we spend time in nature those primal instinct gets kicked in.
@@rockypereira3179 thankss for the replyy ✨✨🙏
You can’t just ask yourself every day how you’re doing. Reality may turn its back on you like it turned its back on Gary Busey.
I went to see a nurse once because I thought I had something stuck in my ear and she told me my ear drum was too clean and to stop using cotton buds 😂
It wasn’t even an ear problem in the end, it was the eustachian tube popping, but I definitely don’t stick things in my ears anymore
So nice to see all these RUclips doctors come together!!! Well done!
As a nurse in Belgium, I recommend this channel to my patients. It’s very informative, but also entertaining ❤

This video is an amazing collaboration! I learned some great new pieces of information. Thank you all so much ! ❤
This was fantastic and entertaining to watch!! I hope you continue these "health hacks" from these doctors...and thanks to all of you!
This was so awesome! Yes, yes, yes to not smoking!! I did it for almost 20 years, but smoke free now for almost 5 years. Not smoking has been a game changer for my body.
Excellent stuff! Thanks to Dr. Mike's team for doing such heavy lifting reaching out to everyone and putting together all these amazing contributions. Really appreciate what comes across as genuine care from everyone.
Works great, only peroxide will bleach out colors, if left on.
So does washing with cold water and ivory bar soap. It is an old trick but it works.
Cold water + soap if fresh. Oxyclean + detergent or (spray oxyclean works best) when set.
Amazing amazing amazing!
Thanks for getting all the awesome doctors on board to do this (no puns intended)
I love it 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
