I just met a guy who had been shot with a .22 SHORT at a range of about ~50 yards. The round went in his shoulder and lodged against his spine. My grandfather used to hunt deer with a .22 LR. I am just not a believer that any gun here, at short range is going to be inadequate to ward off an attacker. Ive watched a lot of self defense/gun videos and what I find is that once the first round goes off the bad guys flee, with passion. I own a couple of 32, 25 and 22's. What I like about them is they don't kick, I can retrain on the target quickly, much better than with a 9mm. Would I prefer a small caliber in a gunfight, nope, but ease of carry, low recoil tip the scales for me for edc.

I agree with you in purely self-defense against a mugger. I used to carry a 22 or 380 in summer.
However, after the riots, "free zones," and perps with rifles, I traded up and mostly carry 45 or 357 Sig.
I think I'm reasonably equipped as I can be if it's me against multiple perps, long-distance shots, or a nut with a rifle.
So my thinking changed with all the crazies today.

I carry the 380 version of the P32. Been carrying it for about a decade. It's not pretty, and it doesn't wow you in any way. What it does do is work without fail. Never had one issue so it's still in my back pocket

    My statement on 22LR
I CC a family inherited Belgium Browning target 7" -- I can put 4 - 5 on close pattern center mass in 2.5 secs.
I credit it to " time on target" due to far less sight re -acquisition from recoil and the guns natural balance to
return to the original sighting position. In my book that 88 - 100 calibers worth !

Seecamp only runs hollow points. Plus it’s a heavier gun than the Ruger LCP Max 380. Plus less capacity. The seecamp is a high quality cool looking pistol, but it just doesn’t measure up to the newer 380s like the Max.

I have a Ruger LCP .380 (original version) and a Taurus TCP 738 .380. Both these pistols fit in my Bulldog cell phone style holster, which I carry out in the open, on my belt. It has never attracted any attention, and allows easy access to the pistols. Nothing even 1/8" larger in any dimension will fit in this holster. Both pistols weight less that 10 ounces fully loaded, and have real one piece triggers, not the junk riveted together triggers so common on newer pistols. I have no problem handling .380 in such a small gun. KelTecs are junk, period. I would never trust my life to one. Same with rimfire ammo. Just not reliable enough.

I have more handguns chambered in 22 LR than in any other round. I have revolvers, target pistols, even a NAA 5 shot black widow pocket revolver. I would not advise ANY rimfire as a self defense round simply because rimfires are more prone to failure to fire than centerfire rounds. In a pistol, that means a jam which you must manually eject before you can pull the trigger again. Yes, with a revolver, you can just pull the trigger again. How far can a bad guy with a knife close the distance to you while you realize you have a misfire and pull the trigger again? Why take that chance? I would never ever opt for the lite rack LCP in 22 LR. I have the regular LCP2 in .380. It's stupid reliable. Yes, it's snappy, but with lots of practice, you can become competent with it. It is not hard to rack. I don't bother with hollow points. I use fmj ball ammo which as is, will make the same size hole in someone's body as a 9mm.

this person doesn't know what their talking about! I have a Ruger LCP max and I can't think of a better small pistol. Way better than any 22 or 22 mag. lol and you don't think 10 of 380 is better than 10 22 long rifle 🤣
