      Tomaten Sosse If a belief system involves a subset belief that homosexual marriage should not be allowed, then of course it is "justified", assuming the religion in and of itself is.The westboro baptist church are a good example of this. They believe that it's sickening that a country would support gay marriage. It affects them because they feel bad for those that will not be sent to heaven. They believe that it is their duty to convert people to see the Lord, or whatever. By having such a country, they believe they have failed themselves and their God.

    Those who claim homosexuality to be a choice - why would one choose it over being straight? Surely the easier option in today's world is to be straight and get no hassle from anyone. Who is choosing to be a homosexual? I've seen sexuality break people apart emotionally because they can't conform, even though they want to.

    • @classicblue
      @classicblue 10 лет назад +3

      That is not completely true. A 20 year old man being in a relationship with a 17 year old girl where they both consent to the relationship is to still looked at as illegal in the us. The man can and in many cases has gone to jail for that. In Japan the age of consent is 14, but only in some cases. Some countries a 14 year old girl can get married with parents consent. If the world can't agree on an age while innocent men continue to go to jail for statutory than it proves my point valid.

    • @frida2744
      @frida2744 10 лет назад +4

      No it doesn't it just raises another issue we have in our legal system not defies another. Just because two laws are equally weird doesn't mean they're both right to be laws. And the age of consent laws are there for protection (if you look up their history you'll see they wee full of problems that we have been and still are dealing with) and they would apply to gays too if one was underage. If the age of consent thing wasn't an issue then there would be no reason to ban gay relationships since both would be conscientious and consenting. Two adults are equal in rights, an adult and a child is different, regardless of gender or sexuality

    • @classicblue
      @classicblue 10 лет назад

      classicblue Right, so you're implying that if you're in the position where you don't find women attractive and can't fall in love with them, you just have to grin and accept your life as it is, never to experience these things? Sure, it's a choice to act on urges, but why should heterosexuals be allowed to and not homosexuals? It shames me that that belief even has a flicker of existence today.

Yes, they told everyone to support Gay marriage at the end, but come on; does every comment really need to be about how "Gays are dumb" or how "Religious people are dumb"?
      By the way, the Bible never says Gay marriage should not be allowed, and it also states that religion should be separated from government, meaning that Gay marriage should be totally fine by the religious zealots out there (obviously not all Christians, I am Christian myself).

    Why can't we just go by the Biblical definition of marriage? The Bible specifically says marriage is one man one woman, one man multiple women (Gen 4:19), or one rapist one rape victim (Duet 22:28). Why is His Law so difficult for everyone to follow? Why do you object so much to my religion being in our legal system?

    A person doesn't have to support gay marriage. It's okay to have an opinion against gays', but I also think that you shouldn't be rude about it either. All you have to say is, "I don't support them because it goes against my beliefs," or, "I have my reasons for not supporting them."
    Another thing, there are a lot of you who get offended too easily when someone expresses their opinion. Sure, it might be a little, um, unacceptable at times, but you calling them out won't change their views and will just cause a giant mess of an argument on the internet.
    Oh and one more thing, I'm a lesbian, living in a very conservative state, so it's not like I'm defending "homophobes" or whatever. All I'm saying is that it's not worth snapping at one another

      Bigots should be made utterly obvious in our lives. This is one of the mechanisms for social change. By shaming bigots into shutting the fuck up, we're able to live in a more progressive society.
      When racism became distasteful in the eyes of the public at large, people who were truly racist started to keep their views behind closed doors.

    • @agentlolipop001

      Kyra set But not challenging them and acting like their lack of acceptance is completely okay and valid just makes it easier for them to propagate these harmful views. I'm not for censorship, but I do believe we should always be able to oppose bigoted opinions even if they're of a religious nature. And it's not like no one ever changes their mind; if they see the harm that bigotry can do, they might reconsider their past views!
      Similarly, there's no way I'd stay silent if people were going around saying they just happen to think people of other races are inferior - sure, it's their right, but they need to know that there isn't actually any evidence of this belief and that it is actually harmful to others.
