From Wikipedia: Even in the Quietest Moments... is the fifth album by the English rock band Supertramp, released in April 1977. It was recorded mainly at Caribou Ranch in Colorado with overdubs, vocals, and mixing completed at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. This was Supertramp's first album to use engineer Peter Henderson, who would work with the band for their next three albums as well.
As a college radio dj in 1975 I first heard Supertramp when I played Bloody Well Right on air . Give a little bit is a wonderful song that our group played in gigs from 2005-2011
This is my personal favorite Supertramp album. Just perfectly crafted from this opener through ‘Fool’s Overture’. Two superb songwriters/singers in Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies.
Hmm, of the quartet of albums from Crime to Breakfast for some reason this album is my least favorite. Not that it is bad, but aside from the one hit, the other songs seem slightly bland somehow. Or maybe because there are so few that there seems to be less variety overall. Maybe they were going for a little more perfection while less writing collaboration than had been on the previous two. My two cents.
Even In The Quietest Moments is a fantastic album, it starts with this very catchy song and ends with perhaps Supertramp's masterpiece, Fool's Overture, which I consider essential listening.
Yes, and his phrasing in the guitar solo on intro after Rick Davies Rhodes piano solo on Bloody Well Right is damn epic, How he used a wah with slides, bends and dynamics adds so much.
I just subscribed to your channel yesterday but I've been enjoying every thing that you've reacted to and your reactions thank you it's been fulfilling
If you look up the info on this album you’ll find that it is actually a baby grand in the Rockies that they had helicoptered in and left over night, I believe. Interestingly, the cover art depicts the song ‘Fools Overture’ and if you can read music, you’ll find out it is the Star-Spangled Banner.
Oh so good back in their prime!I love the title track, Even In The Quietest Moments! Give a Little Bit was covered by The Google Dolls many decades later!
Surely you've heard this? A perfect example of a simple song being layered up with instruments towards a crescendo. Not a huge finish but enough to make it great.
The photo on the cover IS of course Colorado. (I think it looks towards Breckenridge) LOVE this band. They put out SO much great music. More Supertramp, please.
Caribou Ranch is just up the canyon from Boulder near Nederland. Or was; it burned down. Many, many big names recorded there. That picture was taken at the nearby ski area of Eldora. Check out Caribou Ranch’s list of albums recorded there!!
I really like Supertramp and this is such a nice break with the acoustic guitars and a bright sax, not heavy on the bass and drums, just something kind of breezy.
Even in the poppiest moments...Despite having been oppressively overplayed "back in the day", however simplistic and straightforward it may be, this is a beautiful work. It is faultless in conception, performance, and production, and a reliable smile everytime.
Got to see them on the Breakfast in America Tour at Alpine Valley Wisconsin. Flying Superheroes for one song & for another some people got up on stage from the crowd, acted like fans for a few seconds then became the backup singers. Great music and show !
Yeah! Love this song and the whole album. Chicago and Elton john recorded several albums at the Caribou ranch. The air was so thin so the sax player had to record his parts elsewhere.
Wait a second....how did your hair grow back so fast? You must have done this a week or so ago before you got your hair cut...unless you're wearing extensions. 🤣🤣
See I am just the opposite. This is one song that I have to play anytime I hear any other Supertramp song. It's just so light and happy, and I love the guitar strumming. And I just love Rodger Hodgkins voice in this. What I can't stand is all that heavy/death metal growling. That's that's what grates me, and I just turn off that type of music as soon as I hear that. But yes, thank God that there are different types of music to fit all of our likings solve this can be thoroughly entertained and "into it"
@@NicknLex ~ Yeah, I realized that after I wrote the comment. But it's cool. At least you know to keep away from Eagles music. I've seen at least two other channels get strikes after reacting to Eagles tracks. I try and warn others about it just to be on the safe side. Have a blessed day...🎸👍🎶
A great pop song. But, that's all it is, a great pop song. Supertramp has so many songs that are so much better and more interesting Wish Roger Hodgson had incorporated the acoustic 12 string a bit more
Nick and Lex, I love you both, but I have to hard disagree on this song. I have never liked this track. The vocal just grates on my nerves. I hated it so much I transferred that feeling to Supertramp. Fortunately, they subsequently released Breakfast in America and I was able to enjoy them -- just not this song. Still don't like it, almost 50 years later. But hey, we can't all like exactly the same music all the time, right?
Roger Hodgson is such a musical treasure. His work with SUPERTRAMP was absolutely top-notch.
Supertramp never disappoints.
Cannot go wrong with Supertramp....the arrangements, musicianship & lyrical craftsmanship are top tier.

I love the little verbal flourishes Roger Hodgson adds to the ends of songs. It really makes him distinctive.
Love Supertramp and love Hodgson's voice! ❤

Takes me back to my youth here in England
Being with my mates and girlfriends just chilling and having fun ❤
Take the Long Way Home was a definite classic. Lived through their music and I'm still a huge fan today. ❤

I wore a copy out.

@@jamescastelli Fair points. Supertramp rocks regardless!
A lovely opener to a great album. The Patreon full album reaction was wonderful.

Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies are one of the greatest songwriting duos of all time.
They wrote so many beautiful melodies.
You two really fall in love with music everyday don't you just. Everyday. Big fans from New Zealand ❤
Roger Hodgson plays a mean electric guitar as well as acoustic and piano. That's his fantastic guitar solo at the end of Goodbye Stranger.
Yes, and his phrasing in the guitar solo on intro after Rick Davies Rhodes piano solo on Bloody Well Right is damn epic, How he used a wah with slides, bends and dynamics adds so much.
Saw the Supertramp 4 times in the 70s. Brilliant live. ✨️🎶✨️
The popiest song on the album. I hope you also post the other songs from this great album on RUclips.
Recorded up at Caribou Ranch in Nederland, CO. The piano on the cover is at the top of Eldora, a ski mountain also in Nederland ..
Always a winner. Crime of the Century... every track magic.

The late Princess Diana's favourite supertramp song

Great reaction kids. Supertramp has so many great songs, unforgettable ones. This song tho is my favourite. Later...
It's my favorite too...
A surprisingly guitar-centered song from a keyboard-centered band. Love that 12-string sound. Hodgson is a great guitarist.
Every Teenager on 78/79 Had a Supertramp Album I Had Breakfast In Ametica
Yes we did! 😊😊
Supertramp - a 'super group' with a short timespan, but they delivered!
The photo on the cover IS of course Colorado. (I think it looks towards Breckenridge) LOVE this band. They put out SO much great music. More Supertramp, please.
I was 16 when this album came out and I listened to it so much back in the day. Love this album still.😊

Unas de mis bandas favoritas
Crime of the Century was a major achievement IMO.
Saw the opening concert at The Chicago Theater.
This follow-up is also excellent. Prog Lite ?
Another great reaction, love your guys channel and style. Keep rocking, love from Ireland.
Love this album
I really like Supertramp and this is such a nice break with the acoustic guitars and a bright sax, not heavy on the bass and drums, just something kind of breezy.
Lex's finger technique on the bass air guitar is really good.
Most members of Supertramp were classically trained musicians... Supertramp were one of the UK's biggest bands in the 70's and 80's.
Love this one, and the Goo Goo Dolls did a good job on the 2006 remake, too.
This song just makes me happy
The title track is also really beautiful, as well as fools overture
These guys were so good! Thanks for sharing it.

What I also love the creative syncopation of the bass drum. Listen for it!
Dougie is a fantastic bass player, i have always loved his style!

The 70s was a great time to be alive man. Try their album Crisis? What Crisis?

Hola!!! Temazo!!! A full en la secundaria!!! Muchas gracias!!! Saludos desde Temperley, BsAs.
I too listen to that bass when this song comes on the radio.
The title track from this album is in my Top 10 Fave Song list.
Great sax solo too!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, guys. Love the 12-string guitar.
0:43 Or an inflatable piano, flying over a pig-pen. :0)
Clean, crisp, upbeat. Great tune
This was a favorite on the juke box in senior lounge!!!!!
Supertramp was awesome. Nick, were you air guitaring a sax solo?...lol.
More Hackett please. Love your show x
Great album.
Dougie Thomson on bass ❤🏴
😊 playing on Rodger Hodgsons song 🏴
Great song. Give the title track a listen. It’s amazing. Love you guys ❤
Thanks ❤
Bassist was a Stingray player. 😊
Fantabulous
Reaccionen a todo" El crimen del siglo "con ese LP me fume mi primer faso , comienzo de los 80 .

Ah, now there's the brown-eyed girl we know and love!!!!!!!!!
Some more recent band does a pretty decent cover of this, but I can't recall who they are.
The Goo Goo Dolls
Roger Hodgson é genial...
That thing was a Vibraslap

Hard to believe you've never heard that song. What's next Hotel California?
They need to stay away from Eagles songs. Otherwise it could mean a strike against their channel...
@@DeborahtunesI think he was being sarcastic 😅 Hard to believe we don't know songs from 50 years ago or longer. Yes you're right about the eagles.

More of England's Prince's.
If this song sounds familiar to you and some younger listeners you may have heard Goo Goo Dolls version of it a few years ago.
