This is my favorite Supertramp song! Yes, a great place to start. These guys were really, really good. Mutli instrumentalists, excellent singers, and the lyrics are always worth a deep dive. You will enjoy many of their songs. Thanks for sharing this one.
SUPERTRAMP is universally considered one of the greatest progressive rock groups ever. They wrote/performed so many great songs; " Goodbye Stranger", "Give A Little Bit", "The Logical Song", and "Breakfast In America", just to list a few! ☮
"Take the Long Way Home" was the third single from Supertramp's quadruple platinum 1979 album Breakfast in America. I was twelve that year and the songs from it were frequently heard on the radio, including "The Logical Song", "Goodbye Stranger", and "Breakfast in America" along with "Take the Long Way Home". When you're ready for more from Supertramp also check out "Dreamer", "School", "Bloody Well Right", and "Give a Little Bit".
mi grupo preferido Supertramp, el concierto de paría es muy grande, si te apetece mira el conciertoque dieron en París, está remasterizado, yo lo tengo.
When a band is this good, i normally recommend live only, but because their music is so eclectic and complicated and the records so well engineered and produced......for Supertramp do CD's first, then the live stuff.
Supertramp has two singer-songwriters, Roger Hodgson (the main vocalist for this song) and Rick Davies (the harmonica player for this song). Roger tends to be more progressive rock while Rick tends to be more piano-jazzy. I'd suggest another hit from the same album as Take the Long Way Home, the Rick Davies penned Goodbye Stranger to get a taste of the other side of Supertramp. If you want to go more into Roger's proggy side, then School off of the Crime of the Century album or for something more fun and surprising, Bloody Well Right by Rick Davies from the same album.
Great reaction, thanks. I'd say this song is from the time when Supertramp became more commercial, although this song is pretty progressive. Crime of The Century from 1974 is mostly seen as their greatest album. Pick anything from there to react to.
Hi good looking....you should listen to CRIME OF THE CENTURY...this will be the new level you judge on Supertramp in the future...by the way: great dreads 🥂🍾

Supertramp's delivery is tight but warm and soft also, deeply satisfying.
I love watching supertramp live because they are visually entertaining as well as excellent musicians and singers. Love your reaction.
So many great songs by this remarkably talented band. You,re the best.
Each member played multiple instruments and could get quite jazzy! Talent galore!
This is one of my favorite bands from the 1970's. I still play their albums today, 50 years later.
That’s longevity right there ✨
Great song and reaction
Thanks for joining me

Live in Paris a brilliant album so anything from it, especially Logical Song.
The band took their name from a book by Welshman, W. H. Davies, - The Autobiography of a Supertramp. one of my favourite bands and a decent read.
