Best, most authentic, genuine, real world review i have seen of this model (and i've seen them all ) just proves you dont need to drag race or warm up tyres on someone elses budget, or throw away parcel shelves, poke it with sticks etc
I drove one back in the summer and absolutely loved it. I’d test driven a 991.1 C4S a few days before and that was just boring compared. It just goes to prove that it’s not the drivetrain that makes a car boring. You can get amazing Petrol, Diesel and Electric cars. You can also get really boring Petrol, Diesel and Electric cars. It’s the best car I’ve driven in a long time. The only thing that put me off was the depreciation from buying a new £65k car. You can get one new for around £60k now though and it is very tempting 🤣.
@@PetrolPed yeah I’m sure there’s deals to be had on these with the EV quotas. I was like you in the video when I drove it and was simply amazed at how much it delivered the hot hatch experience, despite its drivetrain, size and weight. What I also love about it is that it’s just so practical, with great interior space (as you also mentioned). I suppose the range isn’t amazing, but I rarely do huge journeys to be honest. Very tempting, but I’m kind of hoping that other manufacturers will also take note and we start getting more driver focused/‘petrol head’ focused EVs.
Had mine for 3 weeks and its an epic car. Believe all the hype, its very good and dont get hung up on the weight figure - it really does not feel like a 2.2 tonne car. I came from a Golf R Mk8 and although the N is bigger, it does not handle any worse than the Golf R which is 700kg lighter. God knows how they've done it. This thing defies the laws of physics. The Golf R is a great all--rounder and so is the 5N, but on steroids. The performance is not even comparable as this thing is so fast. And its very comfortable for a performance car. I actually think its more comfortable than the Golf R that had DCC. Don't miss the R one bit. The 5N is not just brilliant as an EV, its brilliant as a car, full stop (ICE included).
Next year Kia its sister company will be bringing the face lifted EV6 GT with the same set up. So artificial gears and 650hp with boost. So then you will have a choice of two styles. I currently have the Kia EV6 GT and I love the car it is blisteringly quick with 585hp on tap. But after a while the speed/acceleration almost becomes irrelevant and the thing that you miss from a performance ICE cars is the noise and sensation. This solves a lot of those things petrol heads love. People moan that it’s artificial noise, but let’s be honest a lot of great ICE cars (M3 for example) have the sound pumped through the speakers due to noise legislations etc these days. Top job the Hyundai/Kia group are doing. And the smile on your face Ped says everything 👍.
Yep. And while I hated the fake noises in my three previous petrol cars, this one is done good enough to make me forget it's an EV when it matters, i.e. occupied actually driving. The EV6 GT facelift doesn't seem to have the same track features as the 5N though, could be wrong though...
Brilliant video! What an absolutely incredible job Hyundai have done with this car, I think in so doing they’ve rather pulled the trousers down of other major manufacturers by producing something absolutely game-changing. This is a watershed moment, a line in the sand, a new benchmark, accessible supercar performance, I mean it hits the ton (where limits allow) in about 8 seconds! That’s Turbo S territory!! Pure madness! But does what other EVs haven’t done, gives us the some old school character and thrill - something like this was badly needed if we were ever going to be tempted from our ICE icons. The problem now is how I can fit the 5N into my life, with that range, how would it work on the cross country road trips through Wales, Scotland, the Dales, places this car deserves to be enjoyed, but factoring in the range and the limited charging infrastructure in those locations. Another video may be in order Pete! A real world blat round the NC500 for example, does it work in those scenarios, is the infrastructure there to support where we want to take this car and where it deserves to be. By the way, I cannot believe Evo overlooked this car for ECOTY… wtf were they thinking!!
Yep Evo was clearly biased 'who actually wants to drive it". Well me, it's a great car to drive full stop, maybe didn't want to outshine the expensive RS6...
“Witchcraft” 😂. Excellent vid. Time to change the name to EV Ped? I’ve owned the N since September - fabulous fun. I saw your Nismo vid and thought “he needs to drive the N” and here your are now saying it’s the best car you’ve driven this year. Coooool
My EV6 GT has averaged 2.8m/KWH over 24,000 miles. Real work range is 250 miles in summer and 200 in winter. As my commute is 60 miles, in practice I never have to stop to ‘fill up’ which was a frequent chore in my V8 BMW, so it’s actually more convenient I’m really tempted to upgrade to one of these!
@@PetrolPedI’ll need to have a very hard discussion with my dealer about a decent trade in deal though. The depreciation from new is pretty savage if you sell a car after 2 years, I’d normally keep it for longer. Let’s see what they can do!
@@BAC_Mono I traded in my 2023 EV6 GT-Line for a 2024 EV6-GT this fall; Between the crazy high interest rate I was paying on the '23 (It took 17mo to arrive in Canada and in that time interest rates tripled), and the fact that the GT was a demo with 9,000km; my payments are nearly the same as they were before the upgrade for a much more fun car. Now I'm wishing I'd waited another year...
The lad has an I20N and the other half has a Kona N,both are fantastic cars, so when i looked at changing my car, this was right up there. In the end I came this close>< to getting one. 2 things concerned me, 1- was that it's so heavy it would fall through the driveway, if it managed to squeeze on! and 2-I'm just not ready to go EV and worried that the Taycan depreciation would happen to this. Then i watch your review.... Great to watch someone genuinely having fun🙂
I am addicted to magazines, particularly cars, and I really became fed up with buying them and then had the “I can’t throw them away syndrome”. I tried Readly. OMG I love it and I wouldn’t be without it. I get to read many more than I would have bought. Brilliant.
i love my Ionic 5N, had it for almost 4 months now. Drive it daily to and from work in eco mode, then change it to sport mode over the weekend. Super fast and sporty, but also a family suv that can haul whatever you need. Absolutely smokes all the Camaros, Mustangs and Chargers in my town who have no idea what it is.
Our Ioniq 5N is an excellent AND exciting family car since may '24. Ordered it untested end 2023, after an underwhelming testdrive with a Taycan Sport Turismo GTS. While a testdrive with a Kia EV6 GT made the Hyundai pretty promising. No regrets whatsoever!
Your podcast co-host Joe Achilles raved about this car in his video. He absolutely loved it. Trully an electric car that's actually fun, looks great and really does drive great. A seriously cool hot hatch.
Honestly I’ve not seen you so animated! Its a 600hp 21st century Integrale! I would feel the same. Its awesome. Porsche have missed a trick with the Macan. I need to see if i can get one through the company tax scheme to make the £70k more palatable 🤞
Couldn't really tell from the video whether you liked it or not 😉. Seems like a lot of fun. Imagine how good the fun part of it would be in a smaller, lighter, non SUV package.
The Ioniq 6N is on the horizon with similar performance in a smaller more efficient package. Hopefully they can make it look better with the N bits. Or maybe they'll release the N74 concept as an EV rather than Hydrogen powered.
Great video Pete. It’s a triumph (well a Hyundai) but a triumph. It’s amazing what can be achieved with software. This is just the beginning. The first smart phones were a bit shit and I remember ridiculing those with them. Look what happened there…… I like the fact you give fair and balanced views on all your cars, hopefully this is the first EV that starts the haters on a different path. At the moment an EV has to fit you and your situation….. it won’t always be that way. You will be able to make them work in a way that suits your mood and change them accordingly without owning 6 cars. Imagine having your 600 hp for Uppark ped hill climb on Monday and then knocking that down to a rear wheel drive 150 hp car that has 600 miles of EV range on Tuesday for a trip to Scotland. The smartphone Swiss Army knife of cars is on its way.
Great review Pete, I was fortunate enough to be let loose in one earlier in the year and was totally smitten. It was so much more planted than my EV6 GT and the fake gears and sound reminded me of my old Golf R 7.5 and having fun. Ive just got to convince the Mrs I need one now! 😂 Merry Christmas mate…
I've got taken out with one of these last week completely out of the blue. As an avid petrol head I was blown away by the staggering performance of it. It's got fake noises but once under way, even these are pretty convincing especially to a non-Petrolhead shall we say. After owning an I20 N for two years I have nothing but outright respect for what Hyundai are doing.
We'll pete I'm not sure if you remember most of us petrol heads who follow you on a regular basis as i do!! And if you remember any of us who comment about EV'S they are utterly shite!! But I will say my bit & i think ive watched every vlog video or call it what you like about this car & ive said & replied to everyone else who has reviewed this car & I'm going to say the exact same thing to you as I did them this would be the only EV i would at the moment even consider buying as like you & every other review of this quite seriously amazing car it has all we petrol heads want from an EV & just look at your face driving this incredible car it says it all absolutely bonkers fun without even knowing how in God's name they have even built this car too do all it does absolutely incredible!!! Great review & about time too that you got your hands on this work of art!!! Nice one pete!!!👌🏻👍🏻😃
A very innovative approach to attract people to EV. For the enthusiasts it’s brilliant but I wonder if your average punter would be attracted to? Engineering let loose is brilliant and this demonstrates engineering and imagination at their best. Great video Pete, thank you 🎉
Probably your finest video Peter and a very important one. You definitely have a foot in both camps which is a good thing. A point well made about range. A thirsty petrol V8 will struggle to do more than 250 miles for sure and on urban cycle will absolutely drink the stuff. More cars like the Ioniq 5N as halo models will ease the transition and be great PR. The tipping point is closer than many people think and remaining enthusiast’s ICE cars will be all the more cherished. This goes to prove though that the propulsion system is not the be all and end all. After all ICE cars have become progressively heavier, more complex and less analogue in recent years anyway 👍
Had mine since June as a company salary sacrifice when Tesla gimped the UK M3P battery I decided to try something else. its cheap as chips for what you get on these schemes with the tax savings, and at the time was cheaper than the new Tesla, not sure if that’s still true now. It’s an awesome all rounder. In normal mode it’s just an every day ioniq that munches miles. In N mode its personality totally changes as per peds experience. I’ve done just under 10k miles total and get about 235 miles from a £5 or so overnight charge in regular driving, although it drops to about 200 in zero conditions or if you are pushing it hard. Im ok with that, my evo 9 and bmw M cars used to get 150 miles from a tank that even back in the day cost loads more than it does to fill the 5N. I thought I’d want another Elise or other petrol car to go with it for weekend blasts, but that want seems to have faded away as I have more than enough fun in the 5N. It also generally seems to charge quicker than my Tesla did on public chargers.
This is an ingenious idea which could be rolled out to any number of EV warm hatches, if their respective manufacturers can make the technology work equally well for them. Impressive!
Ford take note, they should make an EV Focus ST that performs and sounds just like this car but at an affordable price instead of the ridiculous reincarnation of the Capri that no one wants.
I got to test drive a 5N at an EV expo in Long Beach. I loved the handling and suspension, and the traction control is lively - didn’t make the car feel like it’s on rails. . I wasn’t in to the fake sounds or retro feel - especially because the latter slows it down vs just having all the power all the time 🤷♀️. But I’m an EV person for over 10 years.
Great piece Ped, amazing technology, could be put into more sensible EV’s to give a little joy to the silent drive experience. That door width issue won’t leave your thoughts will it 😅 it must have cost you a few bob! Best wishes for the Season to you and Mrs Ped 🎅🥂
ah man, i have a regular ioniq 5 (awd 320bhp) and thats pretty nippy itself for its size, i cant really imagine double the power but i wish i had it. However for the box of tricks the N is i think Hyundai are missing a trick here... the gear shifts, the sound, its all software, how hard could it be to give a wider variety of sounds and characteristics... you could basically choose your engine on a given day, want a v10 with a 10k rev limit then choose it, how about a v8 burble and lazy 7k rev limit, ferrari v12... lets go. They have shown they have the ability to create a convincing sound, the ability to manipulate the drive train/motors to behave like an engine with that rev limit. There is just so much they could do with it that would just blow you away further i feel. Maybe they just wanted it to have its own unique identity and not turn it into a kids toy but gosh if thats not something very cool they could play with in future. As an ioniq 5 owner my one disappointment with hyundai is their lack of taking advantage of over the air updates, things like the drivers display could have multiple options when it comes to what is displayed and how but they just have not bothered to tweak or update anything and i feel that may be the same story with the N... the possibilities with OTA updates could unlock so much potential and flavor, more options, more sounds etc but they are pretty lazy on that front it seems. My dream car that 5N though, i must have one.
Fair play to Hyundai N division. I want to hate it because it’s an EV and has no soul, but if it puts a big grin on your face then they’ve managed to capture what all petrolheads love about driving 👏
@@PetrolPedThat seems to be a standard comment on reviews of this car, and it's clearly written by people who haven't gotten behind the wheel of one. It has soul in spades. If anyone drives one without laughing their ass off the whole time, then THEY'RE the ones with no soul. I've had mine for three months now and it still makes me giggle on a regular basis. Every time I show it off, my passengers have the same reaction. Isn't having non-stop fun behind the wheel the textbook definition of a vehicle with soul?
It is a brilliant concept. Even if Hyudai had that sound and feel in a 300 kW or 200 kW EV it would be a game changer and make those that love cars have the sensory feel of driving a drivers sports car. IMO it could even be the smallest of EV that would just change the game forever. Whilst I have not driven the Ionic 5N I feel it might be like driving a driving game simulator on the road. The noise and gear changes as per Gran Turismo however actually in a car, where you get the real world feedback as you throw the car through its paces. Would have loved to have seen that on the ice drift circuit in Italy up against the Maserati.
There is a reason it's on this platform. It spelled 800V. Which is key to it's massive regen braking giving it relative great track range, and track endurance as 800V is much more heat efficient. This remains the most affordable 800V platform, and it's quite big. In true hot hatch fashion, the Ioniq 5 basis maximises the paracticality of the platform. Making it less practical or sportscar wouldn't have saved much weight. That said, I do hope smaller 800V platforms come along to spread this fun in smaller and lighter cars.
Great video Pete. Could be a replacement for my Model 3 Performance. Only downside I can see is range. I take on board what you say about its power but the M3P still manages much better range with similar performance. But those gear changes make up for it 😂
It will be interesting to do a data download on these cars after a year to find how quickly drivers get fed up with the noises and turn it off. I suspect that it will be like many other optional electronics and only be used ocassionally by most drivers. Otherwise seems like a reasonable car.
I have a normal i5 and is a realy good car! But i tested the N and is out of this world! There is no AMG on the marcet than can give u so mich fun! Just crazy
Just how awesome is that, all ev's should be like this as this is the way the world is going to all ev's all manufacturers should be speaking to hyundi to get a piece of the action, seriously brilliant 👏 👍
Well Sir Peter who’s a total fan boy then 😂. Great video as usual, from someone who has never been in an electric car let alone driven one, if it were possible to have one I might consider this one. But living in a house that was built before the car was invented it is impossible to have a charger fitted that would connect to the car without having cables across the pavement, so out of the question. Wishing you and Lady Tracy and all the Peddlers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 👍
17:25 I don’t want to do them a disservice here, but it’s probably not that complicated considering how much control they have over the torque generated by the motors. Just match the torque curves of an ICE and it’ll drive like an ICE.
Still takes lots of programming to actually make it behave like a gas car through the gears and make it feel in sync with the noise. If it felt only a little off it would feel like utter junk. Now you literally forget you're driving a EV, that is, if you want that. And that's a big yes for me, regular EVs are great in their own way but the lack of engagement can't be ignored by a "petrolhead" who cares about the driving (but not necessarily the actual principle nature of the drivetrain)...
@@PetrolPedabsolutely! And I’m very glad someone has because this is the reason I haven’t gone electric yet to be honest. I want to “drive” not just get from A to B. This is very much market pull starting to take effect in my eyes. So far EVs have been all about tech push and that’s why they’ve struggled.
Another great video Pete. They have been on sale for a while now though and I have not seen a single one on the roads. Maybe due to the cost of the vehicle. Especially a Hyundai.
Hello Great video beautiful looking car and as you say the driver engagement with the sound and gears is a game changer. Was just wondering about the cost new,not sure if I missed it in your video could someone let me know thanks.
The interior looks exactly like the new kona, It’s cool but it’s not a hot hatch, for electric uptake though I think the inster is a much more important car. Would be nice to see them do a sub N version of that ,
What a great, passionate and genuine review, you've got me intrigued! I do wonder whether there is some sound design research to be done where we identify an equivalent electrified sound that evokes the same aural sensation as the synthesised engine sound, that would create a genuine transition moment for EVs rather than harking back to ICE sounds. So far the sounds we hear from EVs are stupid UFO type sounds, but there must be something else!
Looks amazing and unbelievable technology. So have you effectively been driving a car simulator that uses AI to make a noise..? So will all the car manufacturers who are selling EVs incorporate this feature into their technology. It would be good if they did. Brilliant video Pedro, thanks
Hyundai have added the visual, aural and tactile elements so far missing from EV’s. Once worked out, this can be replicated with low cost additions and software which will be fantastic for manufacturers and enthusiasts alike.
That is one fantastic car it’s the EV I’ve been wanting can you get a panoramic roof? Only thing I can see missing. Well done PED a car we all needed to know about.
@ yes I know but there is also an option so you get further noises such as crackles and burbles from the exhaust when chosen IGNITION-sound. With that it‘s even more convincing…

Only when it’s dry will you really feel the power - best setting is Sport and boost I rarely bother with launch control

@@CASFANsure hope so. But it fit my life perfectly and life is too short to wait for hypothetical cars...
This is a marvel of engineering. Definitely a car that will occupy a special place in automotive history. Kudos to Hyundai.
Yep 👍
Nice 👌
such a significant step in the history of car driving enjoyment.... sets the benchmark for performance EVs
I agree 👍
_Dear Santa, I've been a very good boy this year..._
😂😂😂
Hi Ped, your enthusiasm for the 5N alone would make some people buy it. Congratulations for making such a cracking vid.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Next year Kia its sister company will be bringing the face lifted EV6 GT with the same set up.
I agree 👍
It's the only EV that would make me switch. I'm grinning from ear to ear just watching you enjoy it :)
Think what’s it’s like if you drive one 😂
Maybe Hyundai didn’t advertise enough with them this year 🤔🤷♂️
“Witchcraft” 😂. Excellent vid. Time to change the name to EV Ped? I’ve owned the N since September - fabulous fun. I saw your Nismo vid and thought “he needs to drive the N” and here your are now saying it’s the best car you’ve driven this year. Coooool
Yep. The NISMO doesn’t come close 👎
I so want one of these! Great to see your reaction to it. Think I’ll get one in a couple of years when they’ve depreciated a bit
Good plan 👍
I've had mine for two weeks now and can confirm everything you said. It's witchcraft and I love it 😁
😂😂😂
My EV6 GT has averaged 2.8m/KWH over 24,000 miles.
Real work range is 250 miles in summer and 200 in winter.
As my commute is 60 miles, in practice I never have to stop to ‘fill up’ which was a frequent chore in my V8 BMW, so it’s actually more convenient
I’m really tempted to upgrade to one of these!
The update EV6 GT will be getting the same ‘gearbox’ 👍
It can always depreciated the Taycan percentage, but at rougly half the cost, never the absolute amount....
👍
I am addicted to magazines, particularly cars, and I really became fed up with buying them and then had the “I can’t throw them away syndrome”. I tried Readly. OMG I love it and I wouldn’t be without it. I get to read many more than I would have bought. Brilliant.
Nice 👌
Wow. I love it. That's exactly what we need for the future of cars. Loved your facial expressions. True enjoyment.
Glad you enjoyed it!
i love my Ionic 5N, had it for almost 4 months now. Drive it daily to and from work in eco mode, then change it to sport mode over the weekend. Super fast and sporty, but also a family suv that can haul whatever you need. Absolutely smokes all the Camaros, Mustangs and Chargers in my town who have no idea what it is.
Very nice!
I love this review ! makes me feel good, lots of smiling (nice) I am even interested... though I am a Porsche guy, would love to test this car.
You should 😜👊
Our Ioniq 5N is an excellent AND exciting family car since may '24. Ordered it untested end 2023, after an underwhelming testdrive with a Taycan Sport Turismo GTS. While a testdrive with a Kia EV6 GT made the Hyundai pretty promising. No regrets whatsoever!
Another great video ped and a big happy Christmas pal 🎉❤
Same to you mate 👍
Loving the newly finished working desk space in your garage Pete 🎉
Your podcast co-host Joe Achilles raved about this car in his video. He absolutely loved it. Trully an electric car that's actually fun, looks great and really does drive great. A seriously cool hot hatch.
Couldn't agree more!
Loved the video, your laughing throughout tells me all I need to know about this car, a gamechanger. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Definitely the only EV I'd have. I'm with you Pete, love the shape of even the standard Ioniq 5 and gives me Integrale vibes too!
Totally agree 👍
I loved your "just like a real car" exclamation.
😂😂😂
I'm not yet convinced by EVs but that thing is a hoot. The joy on your face is infectious.
👍
One of the most joyeous vids ive watched in ages. 😂👍
Thank you 🙏🏻
Honestly I’ve not seen you so animated! Its a 600hp 21st century Integrale! I would feel the same. Its awesome. Porsche have missed a trick with the Macan. I need to see if i can get one through the company tax scheme to make the £70k more palatable 🤞
Good idea 👍
Couldn't really tell from the video whether you liked it or not 😉.
Seems like a lot of fun. Imagine how good the fun part of it would be in a smaller, lighter, non SUV package.
I was trying to hide my feelings 😂
To be fair it really ain a SUV, it sits at the same height from the ground as a GR Yaris. But it's a huge car yes
The Ioniq 6N is on the horizon with similar performance in a smaller more efficient package. Hopefully they can make it look better with the N bits. Or maybe they'll release the N74 concept as an EV rather than Hydrogen powered.
Did your face hurt with all that grinning? I love watching reviews on this car and watching these journalists grinning away have a fab time.
Still smiling now 😂
Absolutely incredible technology !!! Well done, Hyundai.Enjoyment ✔️. Remember, this fits in your garage, 😊
Yes indeed!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great video Pete and just loved your excitement 😂
Thanks 🙏🏻
I'm sold. Now to find one here in Japan.
👍
Great review Pete, I was fortunate enough to be let loose in one earlier in the year and was totally smitten. It was so much more planted than my EV6 GT and the fake gears and sound reminded me of my old Golf R 7.5 and having fun.
Ive just got to convince the Mrs I need one now! 😂
Merry Christmas mate…
Good luck with that 👍
What a car! It’s the only EV I’d ever want to buy although I’m not sure how long I’d hang on to my driving license 😂 great car Pete 👍👏😁
That would be an issue 😂
@@PetrolPedwell if I’m going to lose it it’s a hell of a car to lose it in! 😂 Merry Christmas mate 👍🏻

I’m so jealous, you have got the best job in the world! Keep these amazing videos coming.
Thank you! Will do!
I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if it was actual hot hatch size. Sadly, it’s just much bigger than I need!
Yep still waiting for a smaller 800V or similar performance platform
Biggest grin I've seen you have while driving. Great video.
Thanks 👍
I've got taken out with one of these last week completely out of the blue. As an avid petrol head I was blown away by the staggering performance of it. It's got fake noises but once under way, even these are pretty convincing especially to a non-Petrolhead shall we say. After owning an I20 N for two years I have nothing but outright respect for what Hyundai are doing.
👍
Could feel the excitement jumping out of the screen at me!! Astonishing car!! Fantastic video !🎉
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
We'll pete I'm not sure if you remember most of us petrol heads who follow you on a regular basis as i do!!
Cheers 🙏🏻
@PetrolPed No worries hope you got the gist of me going on!!😬😆👌🏻👍🏻🎄
A very innovative approach to attract people to EV.
Thanks Mark 🙏🏻
Evening all! Hope everyone is doing well and have a great Christmas/New Year.
You too!
Jsut got mine last week 🎉🎉🎉
Nice 👌
Same here, thought I'd still miss the small light fun petrol cars I've had, but I don't really do...
Yeah…I’m not a fan of the Crap E either 😂
Video dropping on Monday 😜👍
ah man, i have a regular ioniq 5 (awd 320bhp) and thats pretty nippy itself for its size, i cant really imagine double the power but i wish i had it.
There are 3 engine noises to choose from 👍
Fair play to Hyundai N division. I want to hate it because it’s an EV and has no soul, but if it puts a big grin on your face then they’ve managed to capture what all petrolheads love about driving 👏
This thing has buckets of soul 👌😂
Oh me too 👌😂
Nice one, So jealous!!
Start saving now.. D 😆
👍
Absolutely love it....I would buy one now if I had the cash what a revelation....😊😊😊
And there was me thinking a Taycan might be the way forward after my M3 Comp! Time for a rethink…

👊
Thanks Pete - now where can I get one!! 🤩
Go for it 👍
"Just like a real car".. Well said.. (Phil)
Great video Pete. Could be a replacement for my Model 3 Performance. Only downside I can see is range. I take on board what you say about its power but the M3P still manages much better range with similar performance. But those gear changes make up for it 😂
Absolutely
And it looks good!! A lot of these EVS are lacking visuals
I agree 👍
It will be interesting to do a data download on these cars after a year to find how quickly drivers get fed up with the noises and turn it off. I suspect that it will be like many other optional electronics and only be used ocassionally by most drivers. Otherwise seems like a reasonable car.
I think it will be the other way round. It’s so fundamental to the car it’s the first thing you turn on 👍
@@PetrolPedyep. I jokingly call the right N button for 'engine start', maybe should relabel it 😂
I have a normal i5 and is a realy good car! But i tested the N and is out of this world! There is no AMG on the marcet than can give u so mich fun! Just crazy
I agree 👍
Just how awesome is that, all ev's should be like this as this is the way the world is going to all ev's all manufacturers should be speaking to hyundi to get a piece of the action, seriously brilliant 👏 👍
I agree 👍
It does look very special indeed, I even like the look of the normal version! Let’s be honest, you want one! 😂🤣😂👏👍🍺
I do 👍
Just brilliant why has no other

Especially the likes all sports car Lotus. Porsche Maserati
Agreed 🤷♂️
Well Sir Peter who’s a total fan boy then 😂. Great video as usual, from someone who has never been in an electric car let alone driven one, if it were possible to have one I might consider this one. But living in a house that was built before the car was invented it is impossible to have a charger fitted that would connect to the car without having cables across the pavement, so out of the question. Wishing you and Lady Tracy and all the Peddlers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 👍
That’s a huge problem facing many 😢
17:25 I don’t want to do them a disservice here, but it’s probably not that complicated considering how much control they have over the torque generated by the motors.
Nobody else has done it yet though 🤷♂️
@@PetrolPedabsolutely! And I’m very glad someone has because this is the reason I haven’t gone electric yet to be honest. I want to “drive” not just get from A to B.
This is very much market pull starting to take effect in my eyes. So far EVs have been all about tech push and that’s why they’ve struggled.
Another great video Pete. They have been on sale for a while now though and I have not seen a single one on the roads. Maybe due to the cost of the vehicle. Especially a Hyundai.
Selling well apparently 👍
As Dumbledor said "that was fun". Sounds like you are a fan.... Now jump back into the Boxter. Cheers and thanks.
Living your best life in that fella 👍

Amazing car! Excelente video..

The interior looks exactly like the new kona,
It’s cool but it’s not a hot hatch, for electric uptake though I think the inster is a much more important car.
Thanks 🙏🏻
Looks amazing and unbelievable technology. So have you effectively been driving a car simulator that uses AI to make a noise..? So will all the car manufacturers who are selling EVs incorporate this feature into their technology. It would be good if they did. Brilliant video Pedro, thanks
They should 🤷♂️
Hyundai have added the visual, aural and tactile elements so far missing from EV’s. Once worked out, this can be replicated with low cost additions and software which will be fantastic for manufacturers and enthusiasts alike.
Can the engine sound be heard from the outside as your driving.
No and that is weird 😂
I knew this would blow your mind ped miles for smiles your face says it all Pete 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Indeed 👌
by paraphrasing Woody Allen:
the advantage of being an EV, is that it can always play ICE, however being the opposite is completely impossible
If the new electric Alfa Junior had this tech, I'd buy one tomorrow.
Oh yes 👍
Presumably though, in synthesising the effects of gear changes and rev limiter, some performance is 'lost' compared with when operating as an EV?
Yes a little but you can do much more connection with the car 👍
That is one fantastic car it’s the EV I’ve been wanting can you get a panoramic roof? Only thing I can see missing. Well done PED a car we all needed to know about.
Yes, if you're in the UK or EU, it's just the USA that doesn't get the panoramic roof of HUD
Yes it would benefit from a pan roof 👍
Always tempted by this car but the size is an issue for me.....would love to see this design language and hot hatchness in an "Ioniq 3N" sized car.
I miss the crackle and burbles from the exhaust when shift down. There is an option in the menu for these sound effects…
There are three engines noises to choose from 👍
@ yes I know but there is also an option so you get further noises such as crackles and burbles from the exhaust when chosen IGNITION-sound. With that it‘s even more convincing…
There is hope!😊
Indeed 👍
Wow! Amazing. Well done to Hyundai. Porsche take note 😯
I agree 😂
