    As a lady outdoor enthusiast I've found that Army surplus is a fantastic way to get into the craft... its cheap, bomb proof and will last forever... it does weigh a ton however... so you can either splurge on something further down the line once you're sure you want to dip more than a toe in, or you can soldier on and use that weight to get those floppy flabby soft bodies into the hard-core lean mean toned fight ready machines they were born to be. Ave it!!! Pardon me.

    90% of my gear is military surplus, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Can’t beat the M 65 field jacket, very rugged. The best kind of gear for bushcraft, like these videos

    The goretex waterproofs are second to none and cheap as chips ,I go carp fishing ,and it often pisses over modern carp clothes

    This reminds me of when I went to a self employment business thing in 2007 and another business. There was actually a man that made lightweight slimline kevlar bulletproof vests. That was his business. That meant that he - literally will have been dealing in war zones. A few lasses with craft businesses and beauty salons, a gardener, a joiner etc, and some lad making bullet proof vests 😂 bless him and his family and customers x I hope they're OK x😢❤😢😢🎉

    Also this is all super camouflage for shtf, but for everyday, you can always sew badges or embroider things on, even maybe dye them? My friend does that to her stuff

    Can't beat a bit of military surplus for the great outdoors, a person doesn't need to imitate a squadie but the kit is perfect for bumming about in the ulu or mountain terrain 👌🏻 and it's good for being stealthy in shtf situation.

    Army surplus is often good depending on cost. The cut of military shirts I'd an excellent cut for movement, and length to keep kidneys warm in winter.
    It all depends on your fitness and budget.
    I'm in my 50s. I privately purchased a short then longback Bergen when I was in the Australian Army in the late 80s early 90s.
    I rock out with that and my old Alice harness water bottles a few pouches. I eat live out of that. Tarp on top in a Hessian sack ( old habits doe hard 😂)
    Bergen I got an Arctic bag a desert Windproof smock new from Latvia for virtually nothing. I have Brit softees.
    There basically endeth surplus. Age wearies them...ultra light air mattress. No stainless cups canteen or Dixie mess tins. Titanium brother lol.
    Surplus clothing is great to keep warm and dry. I rock out in light cotton pants t shirts civvies lessens the harness and pack. The good stuff is inside for when it's sleep time, time to be warm, time to be dry. And if it's raining too bad if cammo offends some wet person lol. I'm dry and 🖕them.
    I'll check your kit out brother might buy some if you post out to the colonies😂😂. Atb from Australia 🇦🇺

    I play airsoft which means I’m a fully grown bloke running a round with a toy gun - it’s great fun (It gives me head space from work, the kids etc)
    I swear by army surplus kit as it’s literally proven in the field and so hard wearing. I crawl around in brambles and muck whilst laughing at the guys In the Gucci kit not wanting to get it dirty.
    The money I save purchasing army surp is spent on quality RIF’s so it’s a win win for me.
    There is a lot of money spent in the airsoft industry so it’s worth trying to attract this audience too.

      Lil I hear you bud. I'm Aussie and I get some stuff from a place in NZ mail order. Endicotts as well as Surplus and lost in UK are worth dealing with its just the freight. But if you do it from UK you just need to work out a larger order. Endicotts are good spend 2 or 3 AUD they put a few extras in. Just ring them and explain exactly what you want they look after you

    I have some surplus Alice Packs. One of them i have for 30 years now and its still in the same condition as i got it. It was probably like already 10-20 years old when i got it.
    Another thing i got was a surplus Goretex bivy for 50€ which goes for 600€ new (or 200€ as surplus) nowadays.
    Real surplus ponchos are better than the stuff you can buy now (at least when they dont have holes in it). I have a german BW rubberized poncho which is still good and probably completely water proof. It makes me wonder hwat they did different back then that nowadays anthing with rubber barely last 2-3 years before becoming sticky or just falling apart.
    Sleeping bags are a mixed bag since you can get lucky or not depending on how often they were washed. What i dont like to get is used clothes (just personal preference). And a complete nogo is buying used shoes.

    • @davidleonard1813
      @davidleonard1813 7 месяцев назад

      On rubber. The older stuff used a higher % of vulcanised rubber. Modern production had chemical compounds less natural rubber as well as the technology allows for thinner coating.

    My U.S.Mil Surp M-64 with lining has lasted and kept me warm all over the U.S.A. and Canada for 25 years. It cost $10.00. Surplus Boots? Not if they're used.

    • @Jimimac73
      @Jimimac73 9 месяцев назад +1

      Those altbergs are hand made in Britain and apart from them not being in a box you would never know they hadn’t been used in most pairs.
      I’ve got two pairs to rotate them… they are a quarter of the new price and just as good as new, if you’re fussy about wearing 2nd hand boots good luck when shtf 😂

      Some things are ok to buy online like mess tins and bashas etc but boots and clothing it’s well worth trying on in person where possible…
      we always save our pennies and make a weekend of it camping at the bug out several times a year seasonally …
      ill fitting kit is detrimental especially boots! There’s also lines of stock in the shop that can’t go on the website due to there being too many to list…
      plus you get to meet Leigh in his natural habitat 😂

    The quality and durability of this kit is field tested…
    There is a maxim in life that says, ‘You get what you pay for!’
    With anything that is stitched the quality of the thread and stitching method
    is the gauge which will indicate the amount of stress that it will withstand especially rucksack straps. Also the material itself.
    Cheap shit is a false economy because it will need replacement whereas this kit is field tested and does what it is designed for, unlike the cheap alternatives in the outdoors shops…
