- Overlanding has been about going to uncomfortable places in the most comfortable way. Is this GX 550 going overboard with that concept or is it the future of overland?
We will dive into what makes this Lexus run and how off road capable it is, right off the lot.

I've got an Overtrail Plus, and can't wait to see your solutions for improving approach and departure angles, and clearances while preserving articulation and suspension travel! I'm absolutely in the market for some upgrades. I've exclusively owned various Landcruisers for the past 35 years (LX570 most recently), and the GX550 is easily my favorite. Thanks for the content.

It's similar to the engine in the Tundra but it's not the same. Some similarities but some major differences.

The GX definitely has a more refined look. It looks more off-road to us as well.
I can't wait to see what you come up with for off-road bumpers and rock sliders. I've built mine out as far as I can go, so I'm waiting for bumpers, skid plates and a beefier set of rock rails to come to market. So far I've added a full size roof rack, Lexus rock rails, Westcott preload collar lift, Toyo Open Country AT III 35x12x17 tires, Method MR3 17x8.5x +35 offset bead grip wheels and a PPF wrap. But I'm dying to get high clearance off-road bumpers. Hopefully with a swing out tire carrier on the rear bumper as I can't fit a 35" spare under the truck. BTW, when I put on the Toyo 35's my ground clearance went from 8.9" to 10.5"!

No wood trim inside is disappointing for a “luxury” vehicle. Hopefully they add that back in.

Great Stuff!!! Shure would love to see the rear dual swing bumper with folding tables, the rear molle panels & somewhere to put a wench in the front bumper 🙂.

@@LexusGX460-OFF-ROAD yes but only 460. Gx 550 is extremely horrible. Recently tested it. Feels like lexus badge in toyota product. Super super cheap. Drive lexus gx 460 luxury materials not cheap materials like 550. They messed up big time. But there people blindly throw money in these badges

We need more time in the GX but we are leaning this way too just because of the motor in the GX.

Does the factory rack get noisy on the highway?? I wish there was more info on it
The factory roof rack does create some noise on the highway. It isn't horrible however. The Prinsu rack is actually more quiet than the factory roof rack so that is a plus!
Same price 2021 LC200 or GX550 trail + which one would buy?
Having driven the GX550 I would choose it every time. It is just more refined in our opinion than the LC200. Both are exceptional vehicles however!
Saw primsu already has some accessories on line. Are you going to use non CBI products or non PRINSU products?
Yes Prinsu has some items already and CBI has a whole slew of products coming including; sliders, skid plates, and front and rear bumpers!

This truck will actually go to a different tire and wheel combo soon to accommodate 35" tires.
Information is pretty lacking, there are tons of reviews on these already. We should be hearing about the actual build plans and not just a run down of features majority of us already know about. For example do you plan on putting it on a course and showing us the articulation vs possible rub. Lose the music.
More info coming! We have rock sliders and skid plates currently on the vehicle! Roof rack as well. Bumpers are in the works!
Really was super interested and wanted one of these, but price and first year growing pains made me to with 2024 4Runner.
Almost did the same thing, but I snagged the GX and extended warranty for peace of mind. Enjoy your ride!

With the 8.7" of clearance,r eviewers are easily bottoming this out on easy trails, so no I would not take it off road. The competition has 9.4" or more of ground clearance.
Landcruisers have always had this kind of ground-clearance... it's fine
Very true. Once the lift and 35" tires are on it we will have adequate clearance.
In person it’s the nicest new car I’ve seen on the road honestly . Too rich for my blood as anything other than a dream car unfortunately

Would like to see it with a kangaroo bar and winch, extra battery, snorkel and bigger fuel tanks, radio and antennae. It’s the only way it will survive off road down here in Australia. 🇦🇺😀👍

Same motor as the Tundra? That’s too bad. Sounds like those engines are going to blow. Just like the Tundra and Lexus LX600. Get ready for a recall.
Hopefully not! From what we hear from Toyota/Lexus this motor won't be affected. Time will tell!

To each their own. The wheel and tire combo is actually changing on this truck once the lift is installed so it should sit even better!

We don't know for sure but think they are around a +12.

@@pclutch Not the way it sat in this video. It will have 35" tires now and a property lift so it still should be clear of rubbing.
