Yea I am one who sold a LC200 and bought a Y62. I could not be happier with my choice. The only reason jurno’s have such high fuel consumption figures with the Y62 is due to their heavy right foot. As an owner who is lucky enough to drive it daily I achieve much better numbers than suggested. Over all what a GREAT car!!!
I desperately want nissan to stick the updated interior in this from the US armada and make a warrior-esque version for the aussie market. Good for sending it on dunes.
I’m done with turbo diesels, just love naturally aspirated V8’s and there are just so few available. I think this is incredible value for money. Just wish they could bring it to Australia and South Africa with the updated interior.
Still incredibly impressed by the Y62, but do agree on the outdated interior. You can now install a whole new modern centre stack with mod cons and a digital instrument cluster. All shown on Y/Tube and very impressive!
I put a deposit down on a gxl 300 series without driving or even sitting in one. Then I drove back to back with the y62. Power, size and much flatter handling of the patrol made me cancel my 300 series order and order a y62. 300 is wonderful but felt like my 150 prado in so many ways. The y62 evoked more emotion with that v8 and allowed me to drop 20k worth of mods straight away and still have change left over !!

Think of the interior as in a classic car. In the long run will never go out of fashion and in 25 years will be one of the main reasons why you would want to buy one. I have gotten used to it and now after 18mths of ownership I have grown fond of the interior. At least it is good quality.

There are still some deals to be had on the Y62 I'm told even through a broker. Ti $80-84k and TiL $93-97k. As LC300 RRP had now increased to $124k VX and $143k Sahara, the difference is around $40k and $50k respectively as no negotiation on Toyota (even full RRP on Nissan way in front). The updated interior and infotainment would make this pretty hard to say “no” to. Also, the twin turbo 3.5 V6 petrol Toyota engine in other markets would make the Land Cruiser perfect.
the exterior still looks good but the interior on the right-hand-drive is okay it's average so the left-hand-drive version is slightly nice i think it's still a good all-rounder despite in this age
Great review! Land Cruiser definitely is attractive with diesel engine . However, the Toyota is just too greedy. If Nissan can offer a similar 4X4 with less than $100,000, then the asking price for Toyota of $150,000 is simply a rip-off!
you're arguing in bad faith! the Badge number you're comparing the 2 with is the Sahara, but you should be comparing the Patrol to the Land Cruiser GXL in which the GXL is more comparable at $110,000
@@MrGameDestroyer12 Hey mate, that's interesting. Most of the previous reviews I've seen on other channels were comparison between TI-l and GXL. But when you actually look at the features, and what you get in the models, the GXL is no match. GXL is not even close to just TI.
Love the car but that interior cancels it for me. I absolutely agree with you Paul they bring that new updated infotainment /interior and they'll sell plenty more
I have no issue with the interior. Cars are making me sick with the amount of unnecessary crap they have because people are brainwashed into thinking they just HAVE to have X feature. If you've got Bluetooth and cruise control what more do you need?
@@AP-ow5vu and I do that in my 10 year old falcon, but buying a brand new vehicle in 2020 I’d expect it to at least have CarPlay. The bottom of the range MG hatchback has it ffs. Not to mention it’s legal for me to use the head unit to navigate through music or podcasts and maps. It’s illegal to touch your actual phone while driving.
@@lahmyaj Wake up pal. You're getting a true full size 4wd with a 5.7L v8 with 298kw, a 7 speed auto, leather interior, diff locks etc for $90,000 which is a great deal. Go see what you get from Toyota for that price... maybe a prado which would have a couple of interior features you're addicted to but you're getting a smaller vehicle with a 2.8L diesel.
Just took delivery of a TI to replace my LC200 as the main tow vehicle for large combo horse float. Keeping the 200 for fun as It’s never let me down and just keeps trucking.
Agree! If you spend an extra $2000 a year extra over an LC300 on fuel, considering you'll save up to 50k that's 25 years worth if fuel. Enough time to see deisel cars in Australia go they way of the dinosaur.
I do love the look of it more than 200 or way more than 300. Black patrol looks VIP to me😁😍 if I was choosing between 200/300, I would go to Y62 in Black or white will all bells and whistles😁
Once again, a Patrol review and no mention of towing ability. I would suggest a lot of buyers of this vehicle do it for towing. Me personally I have nearly no interest in the technology, I have a 2017 Ranger with the tech pack. I have tried all of its tech and ended up turning them all off. Some of it is just dangerous. I want a simple tow vehicle. Can you please do a tow test and explain why we should buy this over a Landcruiser, Ram or Silverado. Would be a great help to those of us researching tow vehicles for our grey nomad years.
Absolutely agree. I sold my Landcruiser because it would use 25 to 35 litres per hundred k towing my 2350kg tare caravan My 2014 Colorado averages 16 litres with fully loaded caravan. When a big lap is 18000k the fuel price difference is huge. The interior bling is almost irrelevant to me. Being a tow workhorse is everything.
@@rosewood1 I towed my 2.5T caravan with a 4-cyl diesel Amarok for a couple of years and averaged around 16-17 L/100km when towing. Bought my new Patrol Ti one month ago and I am seeing 19-21 L/100km towing the same caravan. For the slight increase in consumption, but using cheaper petrol over diesel I would not go back. The smoothness and comfort level inside along with the performance on tap is on another level. Hills present no challenge and no raucous diesel engine revving it's head off. To each his own, just my real world experience.
If it wasn’t for the interior, I’m sure many considering the 300 series would opt for the patrol. Quite frankly, for $95k, it’s not good enough. If wait times were reasonable, I’d opt for a prado VX, and use the remaining $12k for some mods or towards a caravan.
Great review. Personally I like the interior very much. Brilliant rear load space when 3rd row is closed. Negatives Rear suspension is too soft for 3 ton towing in standard form and most replace springs and add air bags. This should be standard IMO.
I've had my MY22 Ti for almost one month now and covered about 4000km. Awesome vehicle. First thing I did was buy a set of Kings Springs to replace the factory rears along with Airbag Man bags for about $600 total. Installed them myself (with help from my brother), in my driveway - some jacks stands and a jack needed but not overly complicated. Now tow my 2.5T caravan without any sag. Cheap upgrade.
Maybe an average interior is just for cost cutting. Overall still better than buying a new operpriced land cruiser. For 95k it offers HBMC, a rear diff lock, unlike the 300 series which offers neither a KDSS nor a rear diff lock even at 113k, except for the $138k GR sport trim. Then most importantly it still retains a good old NA V8.
1. Between Kia Carnival and Nissan Patrol - how does boot space compare? 2. Between Kia Carnival and Nissan Patrol - how does comfort for a family of 6 compare? 3. Between Kia Carnival, Nissan Patrol and Toyota Landcrusier - which lasts long without much issues and has good service? This is coming from a man who loves to take care of his cars. I have a toyota yarris 2009 and it's in mint condition. It has lasted me for a long time and nearly has run 400000ks no issues at all I find Nissan patrol tempting especially V8 part as Kia is a V6...
Considering the Patrol is still made in Japan (a RHD market), very surprised that they didn't make a RHD version of the new interior. Is it because, Australia is the only RHD market that's still buying the Y62? I wonder how many Y62 orders were cancelled, since petrol prices started frequently exceeding $2/L?
I think the Patrol is the better option, especially considering you can basically get the same features compared to a land cruiser which would be an extra $30k - $40k. If the Infotainment does annoy you, which it does for me quite a lot, you can get aftermarket options for only a couple of thousand. Think the Patrol wins and I can see why they’ve outsold the Landcruiser the last few months
Yooo I just traded a current xc60 with all the conceivable tech you can imagine for one of these dinosaurs and I couldn’t be happier. The quietness, comfort and that motor won me over. Interior is holiday inn on the side of a highway conference room chic and is hilarious…aftermarket car play in the future and are good to go. Test drove one after a 300 series gxl and the patrol was miles ahead for on road dynamics. Feels balanced and pointy for a 3 ton truck Landcruisers will have their fans but you cannot beat these things for value and feel good factor.
They desperately need to update the interior, infotainment and reverse cameras if they wish to truly be a land cruiser beater. Outside looks good though.
Had a LC300 Grs on order, they put the price up $10k while on wait list; now 160k drive away. I cancelled order, test drove a TiL; order placed. Drive away price difference of 60k
What’s the problem with wood grain? I don’t get it. Just because it was used more than 10 years ago, I don’t see any problem with that. We also have doors and windows yet nobody wants to get rid of them…
Love how aussies always get the povvo versions of cars. Whenever I compare cars from England and Europe compared to Australia they are always so much better equipped. They treat all aussies like bogans.
Hey Paul, you can actually fit a big bottle on the centre console, just need to lift that small plastic sleeve (adaptor) which is installed by default ;)
Love your reviews, but if possible can you tell us about the spare tyre. Is it a full size alloy/steel rim, space saver or no spare/ run flats? It's often an overlooked item when buying a new car & buyers are often disappointed when they encounter a flat, which is too late.
Love the Patrol. For my requirements, the Landcruiser does not cut it. The Nissan V8 is awesome and if you want it see Harrups for a Supercharger 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
For 2.8tonne vehicle doing 0-100 in just 6 second is enough to proof how powerful this patrol engine is..its just sad just because aussie drive right handed vehicle, they didnt do interior upgrade with their reason costly to make the switch..poor nissan

I have no issue with the interior. Cars are making me sick with the amount of unnecessary crap they have because people are brainwashed into thinking they just HAVE to have X feature.
If you've got Bluetooth and cruise control what more do you need?
Apple carplay is actually incredibly useful just for the google maps or waze. I've never used a standard satnav that was nice to use
@@microattempts Magnetic phone holder with Google maps on the screen. Bam problem solved.
@@AP-ow5vu and I do that in my 10 year old falcon, but buying a brand new vehicle in 2020 I’d expect it to at least have CarPlay. The bottom of the range MG hatchback has it ffs. I agree there’s plenty of useless crap in cars that people have been convinced they must have but being able to connect my phone to the car for audio and navigation is very useful. Not to mention it’s legal for me to use the head unit to navigate through music or podcasts and maps. It’s illegal to touch your actual phone while driving.
Lol only paying $80~100K, no need for CarPlay and all that ‘fancy stuff’ 😹 You sound like a Toyota buyer! Used to getting RIPPED!
@@lahmyaj Wake up pal. You're getting a true full size 4wd with a 5.7L v8 with 298kw, a 7 speed auto, leather interior, diff locks etc for $90,000 which is a great deal.
Go see what you get from Toyota for that price... maybe a prado which would have a couple of interior features you're addicted to but you're getting a smaller vehicle with a 2.8L diesel.
the interior took me back to the 90's
Just took delivery of a TI to replace my LC200 as the main tow vehicle for large combo horse float. Keeping the 200 for fun as It’s never let me down and just keeps trucking.
Nice work!
Whats the fuel consumption like when towing? Thanks
Even at AUD$300+ per tank, then allowing 2 years to see if the 300 engineering proves up to scratch - this is a very compelling option.
Agree! If you spend an extra $2000 a year extra over an LC300 on fuel, considering you'll save up to 50k that's 25 years worth if fuel. Enough time to see deisel cars in Australia go they way of the dinosaur.
And also time value of money 30k today is worth 60k in 25 years (at least)
Can change the informant system to make it look the same as overseas .I can get it for 2500 au .
If it wasn’t for the interior, I’m sure many considering the 300 series would opt for the patrol. Quite frankly, for $95k, it’s not good enough. If wait times were reasonable, I’d opt for a prado VX, and use the remaining $12k for some mods or towards a caravan.
Oh what a feeling - It not a Land Cruiser, the Prado is a machnical failure.
Hi guys …. Please review the updated infotainment system in patrol Warrior… TIA…
I switched to the patrol since you did that test with a gazillion SUVs, I like that it's right hand drive being from East Africa.
So much better than any cruiser i know
The 2022 Nissan Patrol is the best car of 2015.
Great review. Personally I like the interior very much. Brilliant rear load space when 3rd row is closed.
Negatives
Rear suspension is too soft for 3 ton towing in standard form and most replace springs and add air bags. This should be standard IMO.
Most add bags in the cruiser as well so only additional cost to the cruiser would be the addition of updating the springs which is only around $400
Its amazing how the QX80 was inspired but by the Nissan patrol
I love my series 5 TI. Is 15.5 around town and tows my 3.2 tonne van like a beast
Many ppl I know - we're all under 25 - think the interior woodgrain look is amazing, practical easy to clean n won't show all the food crumbs lol.
If they updated the interior I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Just bought our new TIL. What a beast
It has lasted me for a long time and nearly has run 400000ks no issues at all
I find Nissan patrol tempting especially V8 part as Kia is a V6...
I love Nissan patrol great price and a better engine. Very good looking SUV 👌 👍 👏 💯
They are incredible off road, so many modified versions of these out there.
Good review, we get our Patrol in June or July and I can’t wait.
Definitely picking the patrol then the qx80
I will look at buying one when the new interior, dash display is released…
Thank you for your honest review
I love this car, this is one of the best for on and off road, but parts are little pricey
Feels balanced and pointy for a 3 ton truck
Landcruisers will have their fans but you cannot beat these things for value and feel good factor.
Other than the 2000s kinda infotainment system, the overall design appearance is definitely a go-to
Interior kills it for me. You spend most of the time looking at the interior when you are using the thing. Makes it kinda important.
How long will the life span be for this car. Will it last as long as the landcruisers?
It looks much better then the old one.
They desperately need to update the interior, infotainment and reverse cameras if they wish to truly be a land cruiser beater. Outside looks good though.
Hey Paul, try reading the manual, little button by your right knee turns off the sensors when off road 👌
Had a LC300 Grs on order, they put the price up $10k while on wait list; now 160k drive away. I cancelled order, test drove a TiL; order placed. Drive away price difference of 60k
The old interior looks so much better than the new one
What’s the problem with wood grain? I don’t get it. Just because it was used more than 10 years ago, I don’t see any problem with that. We also have doors and windows yet nobody wants to get rid of them…
Love how aussies always get the povvo versions of cars. Whenever I compare cars from England and Europe compared to Australia they are always so much better equipped. They treat all aussies like bogans.
Holy shizz check you derogatory language bruv
funny
And what's wrong with bogans???
Am yet to buy this patrol model...it's such a great car.
I couldn't care less about the interior of any car as long it gets me offroad. Just wish they made a diesel version of it.
Is it a petrol or a diesel engine? 14:36 or something you put up petrol but then mention diesel so could you clarify that
V8 5.6ltr petrol
The 2022 in the Middle East has the new interior. It’s beautiful.
2022 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GSR next pleeeeeaaaase :)
Diesel vehicles are very annoying nowadays with the dpf and egr faults. Petrol is a bit more reliable
Powerful luxurious NISSAN
Its so beautiful
Love the Patrol. For my requirements, the Landcruiser does not cut it. The Nissan V8 is awesome and if you want it see Harrups for a Supercharger 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why do you always have to use top of the range
I like these, I wouldn’t make it a full on off road rig like my 100 series land cruiser but I would drive it for sure.
The interior is very good no need to change the car is far better than the LC200 in all aspects.
Haha good one nothing can beat the land cruiser!!!
For 2.8tonne vehicle doing 0-100 in just 6 second is enough to proof how powerful this patrol engine is..its just sad just because aussie drive right handed vehicle, they didnt do interior upgrade with their reason costly to make the switch..poor nissan
