I get a thousand kms a tank long drives. I got mates with the 200 and fuel consumption between the two is pretty much on par. If you boot the fuck out of it yeah you're going eat juice
I’ve owned both, the patrol is a better car to live with over all. It’s bigger in every way yet drives smaller with much lighter steering it’s easier to drive and park. You don’t have to use “premium” fuel this is just recommended for best performance. It will drive all day every day on 91ron. They may be “popular” now but they weren’t always and you could pick them up much cheaper than they are going for now, if you got one pre Covid you can probably sell it still for about what you paid for it.
A couple of incorrect things, the Ti series 5 21 upwards has all the same safety gear as the Til, cross traffic alert etc. the radar cruise control is also standard in the 21 upwards. The viscous fan is covered under warranty if it plays up while under warranty (5 years) Under 12 litres per 100 is 100% achievable on a stock standard patrol on the freeway cycle. Cv problems is generally on some thing running 35’s and copping a hard time. I haven’t heard of any troubles with the central locking or windows, but yes the rear tail gate soft close can play up but it fixed in 2 minutes by resetting it by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. The standard Ti stereo works fine and the sound isn’t too bad, the Bose in the Til has now been discontinued in the upgraded head unit, so has the 360 cameras in both the Ti and til, stupid move by Nissan. They have now put the centre fridge in the Ti range which is a bonus and work extremely well. They are actually easy to park due to the good visibility from the drivers seat. Value for money they are still great compared to a gx 300 series with rubber flooring for over 100k. You can pick up a Ti 24 spec for still low to mid 80’s.

For the price of used Y62 Patrol in this video, I'd go look for the Lexus LX570. It's got the naturally aspirated V8 to match, if not slightly larger. Quality is another reason too.
Hearing about the interior issues is wild to me, as someone's whos had both Nissan and Toyotas, I've always found Nissans to be sturdier and comfier in general, while Toyota's will feel basic, yet functional.

Ours has taken us all over Australia and no major issue to date. I will agree many owners think they are God's creation and that is certainly not the case.
Nissan have not been able to provide paint that sticks and does not peel off for nearly 25 years now and amazing to see that they have continued this "feature" on their new cars.

While working at a Nissan dealership on the gold coast 2 years ago, I was tasked to drive this car around the corner to get it washed, I had no clue about a thing about these patrols. Don't like Nissan's, and thought this was just another diesel 4 or 6 cylinder ugly piece of shit, right up until I pressed the start button and was greeted with the sound of a V8 supercar. The level of suprise, dare I say, euphoria I experienced hearing the motor for the first time is something I still Gish over till this day, clearly. The way it leans back when you plant the throttle is hilarious too 🤣. Don't like the interior, not a fan of the early exteriors, but I would totally spend the money for one if I needed a big fourbie for the engine alone 🤣.
are you an accountant? I ask because I'm curious to know how you found yourself working in a Nissan dealership without any basic knowledge of their product line. Cheers
Talking of people buying/modifying 4wds who are never going to take them off road, my neighbour bought a DMAX x thingy with all the tough kit. Besides washing it 10 times a week he ended up buying a Falcon cab chassis because he "needed a ute"😂
I’m wondering after seeing how people love the petrol Patrol, the Petrol 5.7 Iforce in the North American 200 series is an amazing motor. I have it in mine and it can go toe to toe with the armada over here in the states.
in the middle east these r soo different they do have a better infotainment system. leather finish and this have a mini fridge infront and tv for the passengers at the back
@@Stevegrande1 and that’s the point a lot of people miss. The massive price differences pay for a lot of fuel. The shrinking engine size on the LC is weakening it in the heavy tow market and the price rise starts to put it near big US monster utes that don’t need GVM upgrades.
l think 20L/100 is pretty acceptable considering the old V6 petrol Pathfinders chewed through the same amount of fuel and nowhere near as much power as this. At least Nissan has finally done something right over the last 25 years!
That 125,000km of range is assuming the 200 uses 0 fuel. You basically will never get that difference back. However, it's possible when you go to sell the LC200 will still be worth more so you might get some back.
VK56 has been around in one way or another for 20 yrs. Extremely durable. Many sold and covered mega mileages in the US in Nissan Titans and Armadas. Never heard of the timing chain issues, you should put numbers on it. have their been 10 cases, 100 or a 1000? Sounds like there are far more problems with the 200 series listening to your review. Why are they so expensive? Makes no sense.
See a lot of these at Saturday kids Netball. They take up 1.5 l parking spots, that's before the kids in the back swing the Doors open and they all pile out.
They should get a new generation before the end of the year, Infiniti has already unveiled the all-new QX80. Unfortunately, they're going to ditch the V8 for a 3.5 twin turbo V6 and a 9 speed automatic transmission.
@Stevegrande1 the twin turbo V6 has 50hp over the outgoing V8, but it's pulling a (potentially) heavier vehicle, so I don't think the power increase will be significantly noticeable over the V8. We'd have to look for comparison videos between the old one with the V8 and the new one with this V6.
I love your channel and your website, and your content. I watched so many of your videos before deciding what to buy and what to look for. I trust you when it comes to advice. but please stop charging people 29$ for a 2$ PPSR check. I see so many website do that, but I thought you were one of the good guys.
had a friend with one that went electrically haywire when whatever was plugged into the tow plug had issues. but out outside of that. amazing but thirsty
Yeah but being driven with no mechanical sympathy was the gq patrols speciality. Given that, this more fragile design is not really a suitable heir to the name. They should have just called it something else. Same problem as the commodore
This has nothing on a mid 90's Ford Explorer. Fuel economy is directly related to right foot and/or city/country driving. If you're buying a 2.8t (stock) car and worrying about fuel economy, you've been misdirected.
I owned a 200 series Deisel before the Patrol and they average the same fuel usage even though my Patrol weighs a bit more and has 35" tyres against the Cruiser's 33"s. My 200 series was also the most unreliable 4x4 I have ever owned. I had it from brand new for 4 years and sold it when told it needed new injectors which was the last straw for me after a long list of issues.
They remove the plates generally or block them for privacy reasons. Apple car play is now standard, or you can upgrade the head unit for $1500 or $1000 depending on which way you want to go. Except for Apple car play or android auto the head unit does everything else including reading/displaying text messages.

Owner of a y62 for 7 years here and I pretty much agree with your analysis. The infotainment is simply horrendous although it is comfy to drive. Ours has taken us all over Australia and no major issue to date. I will agree many owners think they are God's creation and that is certainly not the case.
Nissan have not been able to provide paint that sticks and does not peel off for nearly 25 years now and amazing to see that they have continued this "feature" on their new cars.
I e always a said will buy one of these one day, there is a St-l available now but has 247k on it . Should I or shouldn’t I. Clearly an inspection will be done but what should I be worried about most.
Never fail to make me laugh AK. “I suddenly have an immense disregard for everyone outside the car” LOL
Great review of what is an amazing road trip vehicle. Had one for 2000km trip in the US. The thing hauls while being fairly efficient.

2022 RWD Nissan Armada SL
Add a centre sports muffler and get rid of the huge factory muffler for under $300 gives them a nice rumble as well when you plant the foot 😉😉
are you an accountant? I ask because I'm curious to know how you found yourself working in a Nissan dealership without any basic knowledge of their product line. Cheers
@@cyclemoto8744 I was a working at the car wars at a big dealership that sold Nissan's. Was in the Nissan part for a bit
@@benwelter8890 thanks for taking the time to respond.
Both my 1999 and 2011 gu wagons have the door locking issue too
Who tf buys a 5.6L V8 for fuel economy?
Someone cross shopping a v10
A Saudi Prince or your average American. Anything else that I can help you with?
😂😂😂
Against a 6.2 liters…
You've done the 70 series, 60 series and 200 series land cruisers. When do we get to see the 80 series.
My current model TIL has NO 360 camera? Some idiot at Nissan decided you didn't need it?
in the middle east these r soo different they do have a better infotainment system. leather finish and this have a mini fridge infront and tv for the passengers at the back
I purchased a brand new MY21 of these for 76k on roads. The prices they go for now are ridiculous
Still cheaper than a 300 series gx for over 100k with rubber flooring. Still great value for money. You can still by them new for low to mid 80’s
@@Stevegrande1 and that’s the point a lot of people miss. The massive price differences pay for a lot of fuel. The shrinking engine size on the LC is weakening it in the heavy tow market and the price rise starts to put it near big US monster utes that don’t need GVM upgrades.
What is the wheels and tires size? Thanks
l think 20L/100 is pretty acceptable considering the old V6 petrol Pathfinders chewed through the same amount of fuel and nowhere near as much power as this. At least Nissan has finally done something right over the last 25 years!
I loveeeeeee that interior im stuck on either Range Rover velar or a y62 patrol with brown leather im so stuck
The premium that a LC asks over this makes zero sense. Patrol any day and use the $50k change for fuel.
Hey Adam what happened to that pointer you used to use on interiors ? The one with the little hand on the end .. you should bring it back.
Awesome review
One of the shorter what goes wromg segment in a while.
The UN and the Middle East countries using the 70 series use the overseas model with the 6 cylinder engine ..which is far more reliable than the V8
I love that tanned leather, they're pretty rare.
All leather seats are tanned..
If I was to buy another, Black and Tan or Hermosa Blue and Tan. Love it
P.s as of 2019 S5 update all Ti models came with BSM , lane keep assist & radar cruise.
Are these the American equivalent of the armada?
So you're telling me that you don't eat ice-cream with a steak knife?? 😁
Have you done a review on the 2010 navara d 22 with the 2.5 turbo diesel motor
See a lot of these at Saturday kids Netball. They take up 1.5 l parking spots,
that's before the kids in the back swing the Doors open and they all pile out.
Does it have a DPF warning light? Enough said
Great job. Had me in stitches boys. Jim was like a kid in a candy store!
Why don’t Nissan make a Diesel 6 turbo off roader anymore ?
They stoped the td42 due to emissions
Hi, does this review also apply to QX80?
They should get a new generation before the end of the year, Infiniti has already unveiled the all-new QX80. Unfortunately, they're going to ditch the V8 for a 3.5 twin turbo V6 and a 9 speed automatic transmission.
The V6 twin turbo will kick the V8’s butt, it’s the sound of the V8 will make people still want the 8
@Stevegrande1 the twin turbo V6 has 50hp over the outgoing V8, but it's pulling a (potentially) heavier vehicle, so I don't think the power increase will be significantly noticeable over the V8. We'd have to look for comparison videos between the old one with the V8 and the new one with this V6.
@@damilolaakanni yes a comparison will be good to see 👍👍🍻🍻
I love your channel and your website, and your content. I watched so many of your videos before deciding what to buy and what to look for. I trust you when it comes to advice. but please stop charging people 29$ for a 2$ PPSR check. I see so many website do that, but I thought you were one of the good guys.
before infiniti exit AU market, that would be a great chance to buy the qx.
had a friend with one that went electrically haywire when whatever was plugged into the tow plug had issues. but out outside of that. amazing but thirsty
The trailer plug can be a problem if it gets moisture in it, if your trailer has a shitty earth, that’s generally the main cause.
@@Stevegrande1 water triggered his yes
Still waiting on the used y60 patrol video :(
Haha at the end when you point to "this alternative" there isn't one in the video and that may be true in reality as well.
Any idea on when the post 2020 Prado video is dropping @Redriven
Jim failed to mention that patrol owners can go horribly wrong with choosing after market wheels 😂
So much better value for moeny than a cruiser!
Please drop the g20 2019+ bmw 3 series video
Remind of the time when the Porsche Cayenne came out and the mothers had the V8 dropping kids off while having red wine in their pump water bottle.
Love that sound
can you guys do a review on a saab 9-3 aero?
Is that a Datsun 1200?
I keep my Y61 thanks
They are fucking mint, I had a 2019 model, I sold it to buy a house but I definitely want another one
I'd like to own the manual transmission from Y62
alternative?
I can't help but think of the Saudis and UAEs in over 1000 Horsepower Patrols.
I thought the 150 landcruiser was ugly until I saw this ,thank God the UK never got this, and I'm not a Shiite rover fan I'll stick with my shogun
You couldn't afford it in the uk.
Our neice owns one of these and Nissan Patrol and they are enormous vehicles
Hey at least we get them here in the USA (aka Armada)..... Can't say that about the 70 series 😒
Yeah but being driven with no mechanical sympathy was the gq patrols speciality. Given that, this more fragile design is not really a suitable heir to the name. They should have just called it something else. Same problem as the commodore
Possibly the thirstiest vehicle on the road....imagine it when towing...jeez.
Someone I follow on tiktok one of these, sounds brilliant with an exhaust lol.
Haha posted a question last night about why you haven’t reviewed a y62.
They are just too thirsty. I don't want a vehicle that beats me up and steals my wallet every time I go somewhere.
Nissan "Booty Warrior"
Video on the D22 please boys
Video not required, they are either too old, or with the YD25 should not be considered. Speaking as a former D22 owner.
to expensive for a 2000 dash & paint problems no apple car play & huge fuel costs & its illegal to drive without a front rego plate 🤔
They remove the plates generally or block them for privacy reasons. Apple car play is now standard, or you can upgrade the head unit for $1500 or $1000 depending on which way you want to go. Except for Apple car play or android auto the head unit does everything else including reading/displaying text messages.
