2006 - 2011 was basically the Wild West for the internet. Tools for DDoS, Doxing, and malware were so easily accessible that any idiot can cause havoc on someone. Web Security wasn't as advanced as it is today so becoming a victim back then was horrible.

I miss the early days of RUclips. It was all amateurs with cheap cameras making quick impromptu, unscripted videos off the top of their head and they would go viral. Getting ten thousand views meant you were famous. Nowadays, anything of that sort gets lost in obscurity beneath all of the RUclips endorsed and recommended content which is admittedly higher quality, but it's just not the same. Anyone else remember Brookers? The RUclips nostalgia feels.

Hell yeah, but there are some early RUclipsrs who stayed true. For example 'coldmirror' who is one of the first famous german RUclipsrs. She is still around even though she got in conflict with Warner Brothers for doing a hilarious Harry Potter synchro back in those days. She does the same weird shit and never monetarized her videos. She was discovered and is now financed my the public broadcast media but still does the same old shit, just without violating copyrights.

I moved away a couple years after I graduated (2013) so I'm not entirely sure what she was doing after that. She was always big into theater up until she graduated, and last I heard she was continuing down that path (broadway type performances).
I do hope that she changed her name so she was able to escape all the internet craziness and find success. I really felt bad for her because she was 15-16 when she blew up online and seemed pretty shy irl with only a few friends that she regularly hung out with.

@@paperhat_boi She graduated in 2011, I graduated in 2010 and I moved away in 2013. I didn't even know about boxxy until I had moved away. Last I saw (before I deleted my social media) she was continuing to perform in broadway type shows and seemed happy/normal. I do hope she changed her name so that she can live a normal life, but she definitely didn't look like "boxxy anymore so maybe she was able to just move on.
I wish I was back in California with my parents so I could snag one of my yearbooks as "proof," but believe me or don't it doesn't bother me. It's just always such a trip when one of the creators I watch ends up covering her.
