    I used to work at a retirement home that housed mostly mentally ill residents. One of the residents seemed like a kind man and easy to talk too. The senior always mentioned his “lovely daughters” and how he missed them. I noticed he never got a visit from his daughters so I asked around about it and a coworker told me that he molested his daughters back in the 70s. Still gives me chills.

      Reminds me of a story my friend told me. At the time, she was still studying to become an RN and was working at nursing homes over the summers. The story was pretty similar but I can't remember the specifics. Anyways, the man was talking to his wife (not the mother of his children - she had divorced him) while my friend was in the room. He said something along the lines of, "Oh, she's so beautiful. Doesn't she look a lot like *daughter's name that he molested.*" My friend didn't know about the molestation at the time until she asked why the daughter wouldn't visit.
      Edit: I should probably also add this. She didn't ask the man or his wife, she asked one of her coworkers.

      @user-zf2ru4eq4w 5 дней назад

      I use to work for a security agency and was posted as the late-night security guard for a place called Catholic Charities. It is basically Hospice but also a local elderly home. One thing I was trained on for that site is to expect calls from the elderly being self-entitled and would always try to get away with things by blaming their age and in their mind, they believe it to be true and may not be aware of it. There were two residents like that but one of them actually knew what he did. I say did because they both passed away while I worked there. One of them use to call 911 and would verbally harass the nurses. It got so bad the Baltimore city captain for that local department came down to investigate. So, he, the building supervisor for the building I patrolled, and I came up with a system. If 911is called; then the security would contact the supervisor to investigate the room and the resident. If there is an emergency, then security would say it is. That one resident had to be in his own room because he would also harass the other residents. As it turned out after talking to his daughter and son in law after he passed away, he was placed there because no other healthcare facilities wanted him or kicked him out because of his history with harassment and the falsified 911 calls in addition to calling to the main lobby front desk demanding a security guard to come to his room and meals throughout the night. Sad part is I also found out that he most likely did that because his own family did not want to visit him.

    I followed a guy on Quora who would post lots of interesting articles about life and his time in prison. I found his articles quite inspiring. He never mentioned what his crime was, but due to his knowledge of accounting and computers I assumed it was financial fraud. He refers to it as "another man's crime" in his bio, so figured he had taken the fall for someone. I eventually Googled his name, because it's quite unique. It turns out he was arrested with more than 14,000 images of child pornography on his computer. His wife turned him in when she found it on their home computer. Now I feel like an idiot. There are actually lots of sex offenders on Quora it seems, but naturally few of them want to talk openly about their crimes.

It's a trap, for sexual predators it's fine because it actually makes sense and works, but for all other criminals it's just a way to get them sent down for something stupid. Uploading youtube vids is not the weakest offense people violate probation with, a great example everyone should be aware of is being near convicted felons.. That's right, if you're just NEAR a convicted felon, that can be enough to violate probation.. It's crazy.

She'd also get really into Christmas and Halloween and would always have lots of cool decorations and treats for the kids regardless of if they were "too old for trick or treating." I was always too introverted to really make friends with her, but I always appreciated the things she did for the neighborhood kids. We had moved away and a couple years later I'm scrolling a "sex offender near me" website thing for...fun? Out of curiosity? I don't know. I type in my address at that time, then start looking at my old addresses. She was there. I then looked her up on the actual website. She raped a boy between the age of 8 and 11, she also got a charge for either raping him with a foreign object as well, or a complete other boy. It was kind of hard to understand the legal text. Anyway, really messed me up. Always makes me wonder if she had been taking advantage of any other kids. I mean, sometimes she'd carpool kids around. I think one of the things that really grossed me out was that she had this bright beaming smile in each of her sex offender registry photos. She just seemed so happy to smile and have her picture taken. That same smile she would direct at all the neighborhood kids...

      and afterwards since it was a small Parish the school needed lifts to help move students to the church and back to the school.
      And so the priest obviously offered to help out.
      And I remember he asked some girls to help him move stuff back to his house and I remember he brought four or five girls back to his house to "help-out" I have reason to believe he raped them but I don't know for sure.

      I dunno. I wasn't there. Fwiw though, I didn't get that vibe from him.

Also, no middle age person in the right mind says age is just a number tons of times, or like you said they do, its pretty dumb to do, it like if I said “N*g*er is just a color”, I could mean it in some strange misconstrued way, but it still has its negative connotation.

      Which ended up proving to be true in his case, so the concern when hearing that out of context is pretty understandable. I don't really need to know that the person got in trouble for something to feel comfortable when I hear that phrase. Unless I *know* it's in a different context.

I have been out of prison for 21 years now and I still have problems because of that. I get it. I messed up. I served my time. I took all the anger management classes and did everything they asked of me. But because of these gun specs, I can NEVER get my record expunged. NEVER. I’m not sure about a guy like Ed because I don’t really know if he grew as a person after he got punished, but even something like sexual battery shouldn’t have to follow someone around for entire decades, especially if the whole point of the justice system is to reform people. I feel like he was done wrong, in a SA victim and he never denied what he did until everyone wanted his head. I get revenge and punishment i do, I get the pain more then anyone but.
      He changed, he just a few years of joy after telling the world his crime. After so long he deserved just a little bet of joy.... If God can forgive us killing his son, we can forgive this. I forgave my Abuser, not everyone can true. But we as a species never deserved to live as long as we have yet here we are. Give a old man who's live is nearly gone just a little light. That's all.

      Yeah that one was pretty sad. Dude seemed to be just trying to pick up the pieces of what was left and make something simple out of it...
      I absolutely do *NOT* condone any of the actions by either of these guys that led to the stories that make up the video, but damn if there isn't a line somewhere between them.
      I'm not sure where exactly it should be drawn but... Ed and Don are not on the same field.

    I don't agree with the level of sympathy towards Ed, even if he didn't reoffend, you don't "accidentally" sexually batter someone. His victim will be dealing with the trauma and possible physical injury for the rest of their life, it's not a blunder and it makes me sick to see so many people defending him just because he's a "sweet old man" now

    why do you call these mens assault a mistake or blunder? they were fully lucid, seemingly had no conditions that made them unable to comprehend their actions, and they enacted harm upon people who would struggle to fight back. that's no mistake, that's deliberate. do not give these men any undeserved credit

      I also tilted my head after hearing the word "blunder" just because of how it's very blatantly untrue. I think it might be hard for a person to fully grasp how sinister and unexcusable their actions were especially after learning more about them. Once I gained sympathy for them I found it hard to acknowledge what they did.

    • @Spinogrl2000
      @Spinogrl2000 Год назад +41

      @@Africa893 As someone who was assaulted as a teen, I have to agree. It is commendable when people prone to these vile compulsions learn to control it. It's not an overnight thing, like "I offended but I'm better now, teehee!" I've never had the urge myself, but I have had my vices I had to wrestle away from, and it takes a lot of mental work to reign yourself in. Ironically, I would put a lot of the physiological dependence I had on alcohol as a coping mechanism for never truly processing my trauma. I suppose my point is that while I don't necessarily think all offenders can be rehabilitated, those that can should face their punishment and be allowed to try and rebuild themselves into a better being, and that a lot of people have something dark preying on their minds (some things worse than others, obviously) that they have to beat down. If we won't allow them that, we might as well just chuck them feet first into a woodchipper (which is what I would recommend for those who can't be rehabilitated. Yay saving tax dollars!).

Another sure sign that it was a minor because they refrain from mentioning they are a minor or even stating and age. They only hide that in documents when a minor is involved.
