I have lived in Los Angeles for 32 years, and still love it. The city is spectacular from the sky at night. I worked for a law firm on the 53rd floor of a downtown Los Angeles high-rise, and the view of the city, plus the sunsets 20 miles west, were magnificent.
I grew up in San Diego. I was born in Tokyo, and lived on a large Navy base in Yokohama until I arrived in the U.S. I moved to Los Angeles in 1983. Aside from three years in Las Vegas, Los Angeles has been my home. Yes, the traffic is awful, the housing prices are ridiculous, but I still love it here. San Diego was a little town when I lived there. Now it's the second largest city in California. Amazing!
I dreamt of going there as a 16 year old. Then college admission results came in... Now this is my version of "boulevard of broken dreams". I can still go there if i try hard enough but its like, every dream has a base, if that is destroyed, the dream no longer exists.
I’ve been watching this video since it was first put up. I finally visited LA for the first time last week and you can bet I put this song on during the final approach. Absolutely magical.
My God, look at the view the pilots have @ 2:00 Breath taking. I watch this video all the time, and never get tired of it. The city lights, the ocean, the sunset...this is one of the perks of having an office with a view! And the quality is top notch. Best flight vid on the web

The lyrics are very cool and I can relate to and even had to laugh out loud, especially when your car breaks down in the heat of Los Angeles. It brought back a fond memory of a friend of mine who passed away recently. We drove up to Hollywood to sell a dish to Capital Records...an amazing building, anyways...long story short his car kept overheating and it was a hot summer day, we couldn't use the air conditioner...eh?! Love your post. Great song!

Since you pulled up at the United terminal I'm assuming this was a United flight (Or Continental, depending on how old this was.) What kind of aircraft was this?
