  • "Funiculì, Funiculà" is a Neapolitan song composed in 1880 by Luigi Denza to lyrics by Peppino Turco. It was written to commemorate the opening of the first funicular railway on Mount Vesuvius. It was presented by Turco and Denza at the Piedigrotta festival the same year. The sheet music was published by Ricordi and sold over a million copies within a year. Since its publication, it has been widely adapted and recorded.

Turns out this is the Neapolitan language, and not Italian. I _thought_ there was something off about it.

Napolitan is an Italian language dialect. It's like saying Scottish is not English.Lol.
I am not Italian but I understand most of napolitan dialect words because I know very well Italian.

@@MarinelaL-uh6tb You're so wrong that it is almost correct. "It's like saying Scottish is not English" Scottish is a language that is as related to English as English is to Albanian. "Would you like a pint of lager?" in Scottish Gaelic is "am bu mhath leat peant de lager?"
Neapoltan and Italian are more like Swedish and Norwegian. They are mutually intelligible but still different languages.
Also try learning English. It would be more useful than making false claims in RUclips comment sections.

@@starlat_random4167 You just said it isn't the same at all yet said that it is related. That's what he is trying to say, it is related.

@@MarinelaL-uh6tb As an Italian, neapolitan isnt a dialect of Italian. It's a language.

Fun fact, this song doesn't have anything to do with pizza
It's about the Vesuvius' funicular of 1880
