Pottery Textures Watercolor Tutorial

  • Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
  • Pottery Textures Watercolor Tutorial full demo to include quick sketch, color mixes, and stencil lifting. All in real time with discussion. Let's explore some watercolor texture techniques, using granulating enviro-friendly iron oxide watercolors, brush techniques, and stencil effects. Painting pottery is the perfect subject for allowing the watercolor to "paint itself" adding dynamic color blends and letting it be/ letting it dry leads to the watercolor illusion of pottery textures.

    Oh Buffy, this is beautiful. A subject after my own heart! I used to make hand thrown pottery decades ago, and find I love painting it far more. Clay is a difficult medium requiring lots of steps to get to the end. I have a couple of pieces in my IG pile inspired by the Japanese concept of Kintsugi. Just bookmarks, but plan to do some bigger pieces in future. This video has inspired me to do just that, thank you. Blessings to you and everyone!

    I was amazed 😮 all through this gorgeous painting, the color mixes, techniques, your confidence. I know that such success is the result of many many years of dedicated practice. But I have a question: how does one know when to stop? Before you ruin all that you’ve accomplished by “ overdoing it”? Thanks

    • @watercolorpour
      @watercolorpour  Год назад +1

      Hi Laura, still learning that one, but I like to take progress photos as I work, that way if a painting becomes overworked I can look back at my photos trying to see at which point I should of stopped, or was it a color added? Was it too much darks? Not enough lights? Then by analyzing I will often then paint it again, each time using that great human capacity for "auto-correct" we are pattern finders by nature so think if we train our brains to find the painting patterns that work we can get better of knowing when to say when. Hope this helps

      Thank you for your interest in the stencils. I design and hand cut my own stencils with small scissors or use a Cricut Machine to cut out the more intricate designs. Here is a one minute video sharing how I use the Cricut to cut them. ruclips.net/user/shortsfXr3RB6odWI
      Many of the products I use to make my own stencils as well as some favorite pre made stencils are listed for your shopping convenience on my Amazon Affiliate Art Page, by purchasing through this link I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. : www.amazon.com/shop/watercolorpour/list/SSEMGEBCOJUL
      Due to the large number of questions regarding my stencils this is an automated response, if you have additional questions please do not hesitate to ask.
      Lastly, here is a playlist of videos that share techniques used with stencils:
