@@carmichaelmoritz8662 let’s do it this mower cost me 2600 after tax
Hey terrifixel where do you order your parts from for Kohler engines??
When a custom brings in a motor for a head gasket replacement I always encourage a valve job. Just lapping them at minimum. Some will do it and some dont want to. A customer brought one in one time for a head gasket and his intake valve wasnt seating all the way. He didn't want to pay me for a valve job. I knew he needing it. I did it for free and told him when I was finished with it I did a valve job on my expense. He was thrilled. He brought me 3 more customers just fir doing that for him. I wasnt out anything but about 30 minutes time. Me doing that for him has made me more money than if I didnt do it.
I'm waiting on my head gaskets and I'm going to take my heads to a machine shop to have a valve job done as well. I figure, with a blown head gasket, the valves will be highly carboned up as
well. Plus, it's better than waiting for valve problems and having to do a second head gasket. I'm not sure of the hours on this engine, and it's running good, just want to keep it that way. 😊
Taryl! Thank you VERY MUCH for ALL the time and effort you put into this video to help others, like me!!! You not only gave my wife and I the courage to tackle this job on a "Krawler" Command C730, but kept us entertained at the same time 👍 This made the 3.5 hours we spent on it that much easier lol 😁. What would of cost our family a couple hundred dollars, cost us $42 and our time!! Cub Cadet LT1050 runs like a champ!! Only blew the one head gasket, and only has 150 hours on it..... Sad..... But PLEASE keep up the GREAT WORK you do! God Bless 🙏
My brother in law gave me this mower because it leaked oil and smoked. Thanks to you I did exactly what you showed and now it runs like new again. You saved me a ton of cash.Thank you Brother!
Yep I'm going be useing this video to do mine it's on a Craftsman
I'm going to change my head gaskets , plus do a valve job as well. I'm sure the valves on the bad side are very carboned up. , so disassemble both heads clean , grind valves, and seats. Replace. Maybe a little over doing it. Just want to be sure it's correct.
Thanks Taryl. You mentioned at 32:14 about a disconnected grounding strap causing the Kohler not to charge the battery. This happened to me. My mower deck stop working while I was cutting the grass. I thought that connector to the PTO came unplugged but it didn't. All looked correct until I saw that the grounding strap was not hooked up. I remembered you mentioned that it needed to be hooked up to charge the battery. Thank you for the heads up. You saved me lots of aggravation trying to troubleshoot the issue of the mower deck not working.
The sound effects for tightening down the rockers was great.
My first time coming across your Channel and now your musical tune stuck in my head thanks😅
HA! came across this video because I was searching kohler command vids. Have a husky ch25. Not running right.
I learned 2 things Taryl watching this. #1 I must have a blown head gasket, crankcase breather tube spewing tons of smokey smoke. #2 ground strap was missing off voltage regulator thingy on side of cover. I have saved time already just by watching this video.
As someone else commented, I too have to say I really appreciate all the time and effort you guys put into entertaining and educating your fans with these videos. Thanks you for another great one!
Thank you for watching buddy!!
Hey Taryl
I just replaced the head gaskets on my John Deere and it came out great. This video made that possible. I must have watched it and double checked things two dozen times. Thank you so much!
I like you guys, your production value is great. Taryl you have a real intelligent way of explaining the whole repair. I also like the fact that you show your mistakes. Its truly honest.
A buddy put me on to your channel. This is an excellent video. You are a master at this and VERY entertaining as well. I have this same motor with the same blown head gasket. I really do appreciate you taking the time to show how a professional changes a head gasket. I have subscribed and will be watching many more of your videos.
Thank you so much Taryl for this video. I ordered the parts and set my Ipad next to my tool box, 2 hours later my engine runs like a champ. Both head gaskets were BLOWED ! Your the best! It’s been 1 year and she still runs great and burn NO OIL anymore.
Just to follow up. I did this repair on my Kohler 27HP. It was smoking pretty bad. I replaced both gaskets and i did this is 2017. Mower is still running great. I would never have considered doing it without this video. I enjoyed the challenge. Thank you Taryl.
You are "THE MAN" !!!!
At The Mower Shop they wanted $300 to do my head gasket. I bought a new head gasket for $10 watched your video and did it myself! You save me a lot of money!
Good job Taryl! We all appreciate the time you and the boys put into making these amazing videos. I never snooze off while watching them!
Thanks! We try to keep em entertaining.
Taryl, I would like to thank you so much.I'v learned so much between you and Musty1.😊😊
I vote Taryl the Best video maker on RUclips! Very helpful and comical. Thanks Taryl
Same
Superb information Instruction. Detailed description, easy to follow and understand. Thankyou Sir. I enjoyed your presentation. Looking forward to more videos.
Thanks again Taryl you are the man!!! I have a 1996 craftsman Kohler Command with a 25hp. V-twin with two blown head gaskets. I watched this video about three time ordered the same gasket kit as in your video and did the job.The gaskets where blown in the same spot, the new gaskets are a much better design, It took about four and a half hour for me to do the job, while i was in there i did replace some gas line and a few other gasket and seals that did not come with the kit. I have put about 3 straight hours of mowing and it is not smoking are using any oil, and it sounds much better!!! So theres your supper.
It's dinner. Who knows the difference between dinner and supper ? lol
Man it's so big of you to teach us baboons how to work on small engines. Very informative and funny skits too. Thank you so much for the education and all the humor. It shows out loud that you all put a lot of work into all your vids. I know we all appreciate you and those other guys that appear in the vids. Please keep making us laugh and educating us / baboons. God Bless !
I love you guys... so funny and excellent at what you do. I am a female Owner operator of my own lawn business and you explain everything so well. I can make a yard look beautiful however I leave a lot to be desired in the Repair Department.
Taryl thanks so much for your thorough instructions on these videos. Just for folks out there to also check the muffler; I just redid my Kohler twin head gaskets after about 1400 hrs. Found out that it wasn't the head gasket, it was that the exhaust (commercial style muffler) had dropped the baffle, causing cylinder 1 to push the compression back into the engine. The symptoms were similar to a blown head gasket, drop of power, not revving up, ssssssss noise etc. Food for thought!
Mine did that , over 4000 hours , i took it in to the dealer they replaced it , complete tune up , belts blades , everything it needed , but it ran funny , they said throttle shaft leaking , bought a new throttle body , still ran bad , did a compression check 153 and 165 , i hope its the head gasket
The amount of work it takes to make these very informative video is astonishing.
I want to thank you for saving me from myself. I considered doing this myself for about the first 10 minutes of your really good video. Pretty sure I could fight my way through the job, but it's only July and I may just end up needing this mower again this summer. Self inflicted disaster avoided.
Thanks Taryl! Your videos have helped me fix up an old Craftsman GT 3000! Building an orchard in the spring and now I have something to help move the mountain of material needed to do that!
This is the exact motor on my Deere that needs a head gasket. I bought the parts and you have provided the knowledge and encouragement to get me through it. Many thanks from Connecticut.
Absolutely love you fellows approach to making a spot on informative video on repairing equipment. Great work and please keep it up. I did this head gasket replacement 15 years ago and suspect my Dixie Chopper Kohler engine may need another set so I tuned in to refresh my memory. Glad I did.
Thanks Taryl. Your point at 32:14 fixed a charging problem I had on my Kohler. Was giving me fits but not any more. A short piece of wire and two ring terminals fixed the problem in about 30 seconds. Hours and hours of research trying to diagnose the problem. I had already replaced the voltage regulator and was about ready to pull the fly wheel to check the magnets and wires. I bought the mower used and it had the charging problem (missing ground strap) when I bought it. Thanks again.
That's awesome. Glad we could help! Thank you for watching, new video every Sunday at 9 am central time. Tune in!
Can this cause a lawnmower to run the battery dead just sitting not running within a week also? Just recently the lawnmower battery goes dead even with the new battery.
I appreciate the knowledge and the laugh!!
Oh wow thank you so so so much when you demonstrated a External blow head gasket you hit it rite on
I watched your video and replaced the head gasket on a 23 horse John Deere riding mower. Your video was very helpful. I couldn't have did it without watching your video thank you.
Taylor is the best. Saved me so much time and money.
Brilliant video thank you 😅😅😅😅😁😁😁😁😁😁😄😄😄😄👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wonderful video, very helpful. After watching your video I replaced the head gaskets on my Cub Cadet GT1554 with a Kohler Command 27hp. Runs great and cost me a total of $25 for the gasket set and new plugs. Bless you my child.
Glad to see you had just as much fun getting that breather hose back into the base of that air cleaner plate as I did!
howdy taryl from the mountains here in north alabama. you are my idol. i love working on mowers and small engines. you are so smart and really a good teacher. your video's are better than old andy griffith reruns and old in the heat of the night reruns. mawmaw loves watching tv land i love watching taryl. thanks my hero.
This video was a big help and made me laugh at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to help the common mower-owner.

I am always impressed with the quality of the videos that dewalt impact driver is a real time saver

Hey Taryl love that fuel injector in the cooze
Thanks. Just adjusted my valve clearance and made valve cover gasket with RTV after watching several of your videos. Krohler courage.
Like the dance at the end!
Taryl 15 years in the parts business and 12 as a shop owner/tech I laughed hard at your opening skit... I'm with ya' ...Dang; you mean to tell me Wal Mart had the Parts Crystal Ball...all them years wasted asking questions. Dang! Good work to the Camera and Lighting Crew!
martyisabeliever
Marty, any tips on procuring parts? Trying to surf the inerscreen as a hobbyist is tough. The locals think i'm competition and are very hard to work with regardless. Should i just set up an account with someone? Thank you for your time.
I just finished replacing head gaskets on my DGT6000 using this video. Thank you for making this video.
4 years after this video Kholer still lists the old style head gasket and part # on their website, thanks for telling us about the new design.
I work on equipment for a living and I like just watching you it's kind of entertaining you sure know what you doing I picked up a few tips from you along the way keep up the good work
Excellent video. Thanks..
Taryl is a very special guy! 😎
my name is terrell too. i am 69 yrs old and i have only had to rebuild one carbertrator in my intire life. i dont see if all these people have all these problems on their lawnmowers, if they would take better care of them they will last longer. i enjoy watching and have learned alot too. keep on doing what you do best.
Have a new respect for you .This video was one of the best with details I've seen. Thanks
I did a head gasket job on my v twin command and what a job, all the stuff i had to remove, what a pain.
Great job, I appreciate you going slow and showing the details.
Thanks Mick! Keep watching for more dinner!
I put new gaskets on my Krowler 23 pony pig of a zero sperm lawn tractor. It now cuts the grass like its suppose to without puking oil out the cylinder head. Thanks for all your knowledge mr dactal!
I work at an auto parts store & I can relate to the beginning of this video
Thanks for the helpful video! You're the best
You have a really good camera man I love the videos keep up the good work I've learned so much off your videos I love them
I watched your vid you did on a single with a blown head gasket, 5/3/15. I glad I search you vids alittle futher because this is just like my old clunker! Same problem, even the same side was blown. I'm gona order that better head gasket so I am sure glad o watched this vid! Thanks for sharing what you know and explaining it clearly! Take care!
Dixie Clippers I Worked On Had Kubota Diesel’s And Walker Tractor’s I Just Pull The Engine It Only Takes 15mins 😎👍🏼 Taryl You Guys Do Amazing Work I Love Your Channel And Sense Of Humor 😊😊
You Rock!! and I'm amazed you kept the teeth in the whole video 🙂
love the ball Taryl! great video as per usual. I love seeing redesigned parts like those head gaskets.
Hello Taryl, I like that 3 drawer mech's box with the seat , side trays and casters, looks like u
got it from harbour freight, Got myself 1 and my couzin , a great gift.
I spotted the crack as you removed it. The second head gasket shows degradation near a port - very smart to replace it.
Thank you for the great info Tarly!!! I just did a job for guy with the same engine .
Great job man, very detailed and informative. Thank you.
IM READY FOR MY WEEKLY TARYL FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright, Flashing video effects, Taryl singing something , but I really could not tell what that was, great script writing. Im sure Slippers supplies the dialog for the " acting" part, Taryl supplies the mechanical knowledge. Jr does all the hard work of editing the many miles of film it takes to do this what ever you call it. Its a total team effort. and a good one at that.
Finally figured out how to deal with my Kohler Valve cover leak, tied a oil can under the leak, when I finish mowing, I just add it back to the engine. Works great, might have to finger out a little grass out of the oil can, but hey works great.
You can use that trick if you want , no charge
You pretty much nailed it Charles! Glad you watch, looks like you've had dinner here many times. And There's Your.....
Ive noticed in Life, there are people who know alot about a subject, But cant teach or even show the unknowledgeable how to do something. Then there is the rare person who has a vast knowledge of a subject and knows how to transfer it to people who want to learn and be better a that subject. I taught 100s of people how to drive Semis, alot of people want to get into teaching, due to a little bit more money in there check, Then find out teaching is very, very hard. Unless you truly love doing it. You are one of the Rare Teachers my Friend.
You got that right, great wording my friend. Taryl is a special guy that makes others happy. He knows this, and that makes him happy as well.
Agreed....He is a very special person, Ive only met a very few people like Taryl. He makes learning fun. I had one teacher in school who was kinda like Taryl, and I will never forget him ,tho that was 50 years ago, I remember him like it was yesterday. Mr Driver, Belcher Elem,Clearwater Fl. 6th Grade, 1960.
You know, The thing connects to the thing and that thing connects to the other thing. LMBO! I enjoyed watching this video! Very funny and great job on the repair! Keep the videos coming.
Thank you for watching! New video every Sunday at 9 am central!
Opening skit reminded me of a time when a guy just showed up to our automotive repair shop out of the blue saying; "I need a spark plug for my lawnmower" Ok Sir, uhh, we probably don't have a spark plug here that would work for a lawnmower. What kind of engine is it? "I don't know, it's just a lawnmower. Any spark plug will work" No sir, not just any one will work. We went back and forth with him trying to explain there are distinct differences between sparkplugs, and it will make a difference, even on "just a lawnmower". He left in a huff. Fast forward about an hour later, I took a trip to the town hardware store for something, and overheard the same conversation taking place between that same guy, and the small engine repair dude. In hind sight, I should have just handed him one of the dusty box NOS plugs we had kicking around for an old Ford inline 6, the ones with the half inch threads. Any one will work, right?
Reminds me of Saturday afternoons in auto parts store.
a lifetime of know how for us rookies
Great video...I love the tips I get from Taryl. I have a Krohler CV20S and a CV23S. In my old age, I doubt I could remember where to put that intimidating pile of parts on the floor. I need diagrams, pictures, videos and instructions and several magnetic parts bowls. I'd rather pay Taryl to do the head gaskets, but I'm broke so I would probably give it a go.
Thanks Taryl. This video help me save my CV680.
I hope one day you do a video on how adjust a governor on a dixiechoper. With a generac engine on it.love your videos taryl U R the best 👏
Another AWESOME video, Thanks Taryl !
Thanks for watching, Tim! We hope you'll be back for more!
this was a great video mr. taryl i really enjoyed it once again thanks for the information you guys have a great week.
Thanks! We hope you'll keep watching!!
i sure will i look foward to it each week thanks again.
This video is funny, since I work in a dealership and have those same types of customers that have no clue what vehicle they have. The rest of the video was very helpful since my Kohler engine has this same issue.
Very well done guys. Really enjoyed the video and learned a few things as well.
Thanks! New video every Sunday at 9am central!
Good to know thanks@@TarylFixesAll
I love this guy!
Thanks Taryl, The eroded spot did not make a difference has i have replaced gaskets on the heads today and ran the mower "VICTORY" she runs great Thanks for providing such great informative videos and making me laugh while i learn !!
Great video. My head gasket was leaking in the same spot. Thanks from New York.
I really dig your videos you no your stuff
thanks for all your videos taryl..........they're great ,,,,,,,,,,,a real help,,,,,,,,,,,,,i'm actually gonna buy the beer glass.............a little expensive BUT YOU'RE WORTH IT MY MAN............THANKS AGAIN...........
First Taryl video I've watched. Excellent how to video !!! Excellent !! Thanks. Subscribed. BTW I watched because I've got a Kohler Command Pro Horizontal 25HP on a Cub Cadet. It will backfire when switched off unless the throttle is set mid position. I saw somewhere that backfires can blow head gaskets....
Backfire is caused by a lean fuel mixture. Make sure no blockage, or crud in the carbitraitor and if available run ethanol free gasoline.
Great video. It gave me the courage to do the repair on my cub cadet. I got the job done and mower no longer smokes and runs good. I do believe the RPM's are not as high. I took it a shop to adjust but they said it was fine. I am not sure if the governor needs adjusting so that the RPM is higher?
Thanks for the video....JJ...
You do a great job with these videos, thanks!!
Great video! It helped me alot for fixing the head gaskets on Avant 200. 🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧 out of 5
Love it
Thanks Taryl I have to do this job next week.
Well there's your dinner! And guide!
I did my 27hp command in my cub cadet your video helped greatly. It runs great thanks very mucj
how many hours did you do it at?

Another great vid Taryl, made my day thanks.
Thanks for watching! New video every Sunday at 9 am central!
good one. if I recall the reason the exhaust tube is so hard to get out is because uncle John decided it was good to bolt it to the engine before the engine was installed.
Thanks for the info. About to change a couple head gaskets myself.
Great video yet again.
Thanks for the video Taryl.
Thanks for viewing!
Nice video, always entertaining. off road mud mowers here!
