  • In the Adirondack Mountains there is a Unofficial 47th High Peak called MacNaughton. Some say you are not a true Adirondack 46er until you have hiked It.. The same goes for a Winter 46er.. Some say it’s not truly official until you have done a winter ascent up MacNaughton. MacNaughton is about 8.5 miles one way to get there and typically does not a broken out trail because not many people hike it. So if you find yourself planning a trip up, expect to be Breaking Trail and relying heavily on GPS and Map and Compass skills to navigate your way to this mountains summit. The Marked Trail ( Wallface Ponds Trail ) will get you about 1 mile from the mountain and then you need to master your bushwhacking skills from there on out, especially in the winter.
    Disclaimer: MacNaughton does not need to be climbed by anyone for any reason other then pure enjoyment! It’s not a requirement to become an Adirondack 46er.

      Hey you should check out Craig "Hawk" Mains channel, he's an AT thru hiker, he has a video of him doing the Knife's edge on the other side of Mt. Katahden the northern terminus of the AT, it's crazy😳

    Definitely need to do this in winter. Being able to walk on snow vs the mud bog disguised as a trail is much more appealing. Great content as always

    Very beautiful wilderness. Hard to believe this is the same state as Manhattan. Has McNaughton been “promoted” to a 4,000’er?

    • @BrianHikesAllDay
      @BrianHikesAllDay  3 года назад

      No it hasn’t been promoted at all. For the people that live in the area they always talk about it as being the 47 high peak.

      True story, I spent more time trying to find intro music and then I did putting the whole blog together. I got to the point where I just used this song but with the background tempo and I threw on the headset and I tried singing my own intro music. It would’ve been absolutely hilarious for all of you but I just couldn’t do it
