Of everything you have described thus far, I completely concur the Thunderbox is a must have. It is expensive but just because one goes camping one does not need be savage. I love my Thunder Box! I did modify with 3m hooks under the lip to hold all sizes of wag bags.
the temp feature on the pwoerbrakes is cool(no pun) but if your really relying on it carry a laser temp gun because unless your climbing under truck with a flashlight to check temp(which will drop while your doing all this) its moot. But the powerbrakes are the ONLY choice on a built 4runner
