- The original Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion was released all the way back in 2007, and was an exclusive to PlayStation handheld system, the PlayStation Portable (PSP). @@thesquad2253 The game was on PSP and still had better facial animation and cutscenes than PS2 or even early PS3 games. We're talking about a Portable console made in 2004 my guy, this game looked incredible and it's very pleasing to the eye

Really something that now prerendered cutscenes are now obsolete. Why prerender when the ingame graphics already look the part.

Look at Killzone Mercenary for the Vita, looks better than some ps3 games. 3rd Party devs just didnt jump on it

Yeah just going to say it but this is what a remaster of a game should be.
They got rid of the strange blur that's on cgi scenes but it would had been cool to have competently new ones instead of the only difference being the new voices. It would had taken alot of time for sure though so it makes sense
The buster sword design is also different in the cg scenes
So is summon designs, also sephiroth has lost his cool belt
this was my first psp game and final fantasy title. this brings me joy

the in-game cutscenes for reunion look better than the CGI cutscenes
when you compare the scene where sephiroth, genesis and angeal fight, the new voice tones are hideous
The fact that the Graphics are the same as the CGI cutscenes with filters is astonishing

To be fair switch have stronger hardware power even mobile phones today have stronger hardware power than PSP mobile phones Stomp pre Switch portable consoles in term of sheer hardware power.

Makes me wonder. Is the ending going to be different to set up for the FF7 remake or was the ending to FF7 nothing but a tease to think Zack is alive but was nothing more then to show glimps of back history at the end. So many questions lol

the ending will most likely be the same unless they change things throughout the story. There's no reason to include the FF7Remake ending in this game. This is for people that don't understand why Zack being alive is very important and didn't get the chance to play it back during the psp's lifespan
They said the story would be unchanged for this release. Don't go in expecting a different ending. It also doesn't really need a new ending to tie into remake since those games technically take place after the original timeline already happened.

Really just looked like they ran this through some sort of pc upscaler that you can do with pcsx-2 or any other emulator. kind of dissapointed.

The animations are certainly smoother with the higher framerate but they still look janky by today's standards

the og psp ver has the kingdom hearts art style to it. It looks a bit uncanny with the new 3d models because they are using the psp animation skeletons.

Well, zero to not much improvement on the CGI scenes but the 3D gameplay is night and day!

Ps5 has higher resolution ,higher texture quality ,higher fps and probably higher draw distance.
1:15 is just video cutscene on PSP (it is not using game engine)
Neither are in engine. They are prerendered videos in both versions.

Switch and PS5 version using same engine. The PS5 has much higher resolution and graphic setting will be higher but both look way better than PSP version
It was on handheld and year was 2007. No magic now.

For a console twice as powerful the ps5 is doing a decent job.
The psp it's more impressive. It's older and portable. The ps5 it's not much portable at the moment. And the psp has subtitles that ps5 doesn't (at the video).
Is it just me or FF7 CC Reunion graphic is kinda meh compared to FF7 Remake?
Its a smaller scale project by comparison. Square is calling this a remaster where as FF7 remake was made from the ground up for modern hardware with completely reimagined environments. This release is heavily built off the skeleton of the original.
PSP CG cutscenes look obviously pre-rendered but Reunion looks like they were rendered in-engine.

To be perfectly honest, you are seeing the Switch version since it's the same exact thing from what we've seen in the video. Same goes for the PS4, the Xbox, and PC versions of the game.

People says that Crisis Core Reunion is a remastered game of the original game, but to me it feels more like a remake because of how different it looks.
It is "more than a remaster" as the devs said. It's in the middle of "Remake" and "Remaster. Right in the middle of those 2.
@@MariusBoss11458 Sorta like the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro remasters. Where they overhaul the visuals and voice acting but keep the gameplay and progression to be the same.
It's what a true remaster should be.
The new voice actors are a noticeable downgrade.
You should show both games at the psp’s resolution so we can just see the graphical differences without the resolution disparity.

The actual facial animations look way better in the original. Not saying Reunion doesn't look great but to me the faces look like everybody has plastic surgery. I'm on the fence when it comes to the voice acting too but if I'm honest the only one that's really been throwing me off is Zacks' actor unfortunately. Zacks OG actor had a certain stoic emotion to his voice while still being goofy and laid back and the new one just doesn't have it; he comes off sounding flat.
