That drop bed with hollow fuel cell to hide the servo. The most acceptable soa setup on a rear axle I've seen. Well done
That bed setup is awesome, hits all the marks for sure!
Thanks Logan! I've got a few more ideas in mind but this was a good start!
This has been a great series. I am just getting into comps (Doing my first Feb 20) so I am no where as advanced as you guys but I have gotten some helpful tips from both of you! I enjoy it!
I still laugh every time I see the intro phots and Josh is full on comp stance with a radio and truck….and you have a clipboard.digging the rear cage. Gonna be a good looking truck.
Thanks Tony!
YES! Loving this series, as did I the previous one. Can't wait for the next episode. Thanks, Matt.
Thanks for watching!
I love watching your builds, makes me want to build something. I did do a custom body on my scx 24 after seeing yours that you built against josh. Keep it up trucks look great.
Loving seeing how comp trucks are built
Man that rig is gonna look sweet!👌😎👌
Nice builds, curious to see their comp weight.
I do interiors in class 1 and 2, but class 3 is playin hard on the rules, just shy of an ultralight cheater.
My buddy got me an Evil Knievel Wind Up Stunt Cycle Action Figure.
I about died. But now all my interiors have to fit Little Evil.
As always, I'm loving the series' keep on keepin.
Hope you're all warm,
Have Fun.
Still turned out awesome Matt.
I have a class 0 truck made entirely of parts from that company you trashed and it's a BEAST. It would out perform this truck you are making without a doubt.
That's great, good for you! My problem is they tend to steal other people's designs and sell them as their own. That's why I prefer to not use their parts. Have fun at your comps!
@@scalebuildersguild Of course you know I just like to give you a hard time. I have a hard body coming for my TRX-4 sport from that company but that’s about it.
Always a joy seeing you two get ready to represent the best at what this hobby has to offer…..Thanks Matt
Our pleasure!
Great video as always Matt. Enjoying the progress so far. I think the interior is a no brainer for the scale points as well as it just suits you as a builder.
Totally agree!
The brazing video you did was excellent. It’s how I got started making my own cages and bumpers. And you are correct that it is very rewarding when it’s done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The comps near me tend to not care about having pointed out class 2 rigs. They set a minimum of like 6 scale items/points, then once you reach that goal you vehicle meets the comp requirements and they don't tally up the total points at all. If I did a comp where points mattered in class 2, then I would definitely go with an interior.
That class 2/3 is looking killer man.
The class 1 is also really coming along.
Can't wait to see that done.
Great work man.
Thanks for watching!
Get you a large capacity humidifier or oil diffuser. A 1000L would be good. You can run just water or water with an essential oil for smell.
I have to say I really like how your scale 2-3 truck is coming along the fact that you were able to add rear steer to it and make it so that it can be on or off . When you look at the other scale trucks that are out there they don’t have any more bed than your truck does. Your scale Brazzing cage work has definitely come a long way compared to last time. Great looking truck Matt I can’t wait to see the completed version .
Thanks for the kind words!
great looking tubes, but it looks like you need to borrow josh's cool tube notcher ......hehehe
Servo mixing- great idea! Look forward to the alternating, week by week, builds from you and Josh 👍
Matt
Yes, time is ticking away. For the interior question. If you have time do it. Otherwise skip it. If you do accomplish it, don't go over board with details. That only eats up time. Then focus on the must have items. Just my novice opinion. Either way your vehicle's will look awesome and others will certainly point that out. Your management of the wiring A++ man. When you swap axle's the only possible snag I see is losing hardware/strip threads. But this isn't your first rodeo so I'm sure you've got that covered. I'm enjoying the journey thanks!!!
Scale Modeling SUPER STAR ⭐ You've got Heat and Dry Hand's so Fire Up that 3d and melt some filament 😂😁😂
Great Series of Build's Matt and some nice brazing on the cage for the C2-3✌🤠👍 HFLPRCing Having Fun Laughing Playing and RCing 🙏 Stay Safe and Play Healthy
Thank you!
That's a nice build great job
The truck is sure lookin good, nice work!
Thanks 👍
That opener is just amazing!
love that bed idea! time for me to jump into my 3d program now!
As you said you’re going to have problems with the rear steer axle hitting those bars.
You could just consider having a separate set of wheels and tires for it to run class 3 with wider slw hubs. Increase your track width too. Or just bring wider slw hubs and change them out while your changing the rear axle.
Coming along very nicely. Looking forward to some running video when it’s ready for dirt 🤙
As much as I love your channel, as often as not, I don't even run a body when I go out. It's an attempt at preservation, I tell myself.
Standard automotive brake line is a great scale tube. Just just need to make sure you remove the outer coatings (2) and every auto parts store has them. They braze well and are soft obviously as they are used for making custom brake lines.
And that’s what I used to use, but with Scale Metal Supplies, there is no coating, and I get to support a small business!
Rigs are coming along very nicely. I personally just do thin styrene interiors just enough to get the scale points and also light weight. Doesn't need to be pretty to get those points and still function. Also on the front of your class 2/3 rig I would cut down the chassis a little that way when you mount the front bumper your tires hit the rocks before the bumper this helps a lot with approach angle.
Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for another great video Matt. Definitely try to put as full of an interior as I can in every vehicle, but with that, I also find it extremely hard to find a good driver for my trucks. I also like how you and Josh did hoonigan shirts for this and SNU. Catch you tonight for the live!
I really like where class 2/3 build is going, As for interior guess knee high interior for Class 2/3 would be good. Since you're having the same cab for all classes, I suppose you save the time of designing 2 different interiors if you had chosen to have different bodys.
Thanks to you and Josh, I had the task of letting my wife know I want to go to scale nats next year for my birthday since it’s around the same time. She’s fine with that part, the part I didn’t tell her about building another truck or 2 for it might be comical 😂
Thank you sir I appreciate watching you,,, I learned so much from watching you👍
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
Love the builds. Wiring looks so clean! Great vid and fantastic job on the rigs.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great progress so far Matt! I really like the servo winch technique that you will be using with the radio mixing! Crafty!!!!
The cage work is sweet nicely done. Looking forward to that complete 💯. Thx
Coming soon!
When that class 2 is finished it’s going to look killer ! Looking forward to the progress 👍
Class 1……? Just an idea….but my fave is the 550 45 turn from John, soooo much low torque and control, but I’m sure you’ve used one before, it’s my GO-to for any kind of “low speed” rig, brushed that is…..awesome videos as usual brother, that cage is sick!!!
Thanks for the tips!
Just what to say thank you for the heads up on the stl files for that jeep body, finished printing all pieces and it assembled nicely , some hard time removing some of the supports. possible bad slicer setting on my part.
I tend to increase the support distance to about .3mm Helps significantly!
Dunno how they perform but I really like the look of the cut boggers that come on the ryft. Yer trucks are lookin good, y'all have a badass day 🤘
Those tires are too big for C2/3 unfortunately!
@@scalebuildersguild ah well, c'est la vie 🤘🍻🤘
I am just getting into comps so I am enjoying this series very much. I am no where near as advanced as the two of you but I have gotten some helpful tips by watching. My first comp is in a couple of weeks.
Great to hear! Good luck!
Looking good Matt!!!
Wow awesome body mount system for sure, I am following this Siri‘s one of the best for sure
Can you please show us some of your favourite shocks for crawlers or what your using lately please 👍👍🙏😎
I use Traxxas Big Bores with Dlux Fab parts for C2.
Looking good!!
Thanks!
Very good information 👍👍
Many many thanks!
Congratulations Matt on something that takes 15min yo stay warmer 👏
Just kidding, great work 👍
I'm knew to crawlers but the scale stuff is awesome
A craft foam interior is necessary for class 2 and above
What does that mean?
Hey man you doubt yourself way to much, your rigs are super meticulate im all kinds of aspects to your own taste and that's all that matters in a hobby, I wish I had half the talent/patience you show case on your channel... Now that being said, what are the chances you could share the lengths of those custom links because I'm building my first lcg/comp crawler from scratch with g-speed chassis rails and I'm using AR-44 axles, I guess I'm just asking for a length of upper and lowers front and rear as a base / starting point and I'll tell her it out from there, and if not no biggie your channel is awesome you little rigs are awesome and you really really really really are showing the RC world on how to film these little break and had a trick people into making them think they're real on TV or computer kudos to you
I appreciate the kind words, thanks very much! I'll measure the links for you, but keep in mind, each chassis is going to be different in terms of mounting locations, which could effect how the links sit. Reply to this to remind me to get measurements for you!
great progress matt, class 2/3 truck is really looking good. Have you had a chance to think about what colors your gonna paint the c1 and c2/3 ?. A nice guy would put that wire loom on thingverse for us lol.
Keep up the great work matt 👍
I can add that routing well for sure! No idea on paint yet!
Nice job!!
Thank you! Cheers!
looking gooooood so far Matt!!! ninjora you naughty boy!!! :D cannot find the jeep dashboard on cult3d :S
It's there, you just have to look! Part of a complete, other model.
@@scalebuildersguild ohh i see thanks😉
Where is your 3D printed tube supports to make sure the cage is accurate when brazing. 😁
Not all of us are at Josh’s level of over engineering! Hahaha
Comps really aren't my thing, burned a few many times going to an event and spending 90% of my time standing around because most people had a vehicle in every class and some had two. The last event I went to, in two of the four classes the same guy raced himself, kind of kills the experience. So I just build for fun. But the drop bed fuel cell setup is really well done.
Where is a place to find out all of the information on classes and comps around the country? I’m super excited to see the truck and I’m sure it will do great👍
There’s a link below!
Can you go into further on how to set up throttle/ winch mixing ?? Thanks
For sure, I’ll demo it in an upcoming episode.
Truck looks great 👍 but the wheel base looks a little short IMO
12.25 is short?
Keyword is LOOKS, that cab and cage combo has a stubby aesthetic that just visually makes the wheelbase look short. You'd be surprised how much a difference a body can make.
Do you have the blue print of Josh’s crafty interior? USTE is coming up! 😂
They should all have interior. Maybe not as hard core as Josh, but I would like to have that kind of a skill. But I am from a different era. The dammit cut it again era.
I work in the automotive wiring business. We would call that piece a trough.
Works for me! How about, moat? 😆
@@scalebuildersguild I think for a big enough wire harness sure, that work!
Fun work-in-progress update! Are you going to practice at home before you travel? Thank you.
That's the plan! Weather permitting!
I love the hat!
That rear chassis brace could be a bumper if it was outside the rails....
I'll make a full metal bumper for the extra points!
When’s the brazing video coming? Need to learn how to make a cage for the TF2 SWB I’ll be building next, and curious about your new hat! 😂
He did one few years ago, check the RUclips card on this video
@@sampuhhupmas5666 he mentioned on one of the live streams he’d do one while wearing his new wielding hat! Plus would be nice to see what’s changed in technique or if there’s anything to add to it.
Nothing has changed, same technique. Please watch the old video!
@@scalebuildersguild but when will we get a chance to see your lovely new hat?
It's always a great time watching you I seem to always come away with a new technique....personally I'm more of a craft foam guy....lol ...great looking dash what size nozzle did you use?.....
I'm just waiting for a craft foam interior tutorial.
You'll be waiting a LONG time 😂
From Joe Dirt " It puts the lotion on" lol
love these videos! Everyone makes me laugh and i learn, sometimes! LOL 😅 Question, what is the car hanging on the back wall, over your head, next to the red shut off valve? Have you shown that build off yet? thanks! ... Ryan
It's a Tamiya pan car from the early 2000's, got it locally from a guy who built and never ran it.
With the winch hooked to throttle….. can you use it on a switch as well for possibly needing it on side hill hooked to the roof rack?
I’ve got it tied to its own switch independently.
I noticed in the next video. Very cool!
🔥💯 good stuff
Glad you have a heat vent now. Did you get you furnace repaired/replaced?
Repaired! Works great now, provided it's not -20C!
By the time you have to do the next episode, it’ll be like 50 DAYS!
Yikes!
Yessss i have been waiting for this ssssss im the first yessssss but nice video as always bro !
Hope you enjoyed it!
Unrelated but just bought my first 10th scale crawler the trx 4 sport kit. Any recommendations or advice when building or after? Thank you! Love the videos
I've done a number of videos on the Sport, as well as a 16 week budget build, I highly recommend you watch those videos!
@@scalebuildersguild awesome thank you!
You mention that you shortened the wiring. Did you put a new connector on, or did you splice the wires?
Put new connectors on. Splicing isn’t my favorite method.
hello great vids thank you, in your opinion what would be the best crawler ... motor kv.. tires etc for my wife and son and myself for competition thank you .. Jay
Really depends on too many factors for me to give you an accurate run-down. A lot comes down to personal preference.
Have you used the polyair filament for weight savings?
I've never heard of it, but will check it out! Thanks!
I’m more of a cut-up pizza box with short-course lexan body kind-of-guy.
Will you have time to test run each rig with hard bodies and interiors attach?
That’s the plan!
@@scalebuildersguild 👍 haha awesome. Really enjoying the progress updates in the meantime!
Hello, I love you channel so I subscribed, I'm just about to start building a new rc so far all i got is an axspeed 2 speed trans and some shocks. is there any competitions in the uk like the scale nationals?
I’m not sure, the best place would be to check with your local groups!
Looking at you old video, any reason for the 56 Safety-silv vs the 45 that’s about 20% cheaper? Is one easier to work with vs the other?
They’re both acceptable.
@@scalebuildersguild watched a few other videos (like 10 I think) before I found someone that mentioned that the 56 will be a stronger joint then the 45. So I guess for a cage and bumper I’ll be going with the 56! Thanks! No where’s my welding hat?
Is that front driveshaft in an extreme bind or does it just look that way on camera?
Not even a tiny bit.
Just curious what shocks are on the class 2
They're Traxxas Big Bores with Dlux Fab parts, set up for Droop.
What solder do you use for the cage? Any silver solder work?
I use Harris Safety-Silv 1/16" 56% silver solder.
Thanks Matt I'll find me some and attempt to build a cage.
Hey Matt, just to let you know that this episode is not in the road to scale nationals playlist!
Ah thanks! I’ll add it! Appreciate it!
It is my understanding that this is a scale crawler competition……so you should compete with a scale truck…..that would include a Full scale interior. Am I wrong?
Yes, you are wrong.
George Lucas didn't put a full interior in the Millennium Falcon, just enough to cover what you can see.
That said, I do put interiors in 1 and 2, but nothing in 3.
3:50 That’s what she said…..
I sometimes get so laser focused, I just stare at the build and do nothing.
Heck yeah! That's my kind of afternoon!
Where did you find the body with the interior on cults?
It’s a different file from the one I am using for the body. You’ll have to search for it, it’s there!
@@scalebuildersguild I’ll keep looking, It would go perfect for the gladiator build I’m doing to copy my full size
@@BumblesLair it’s only a two door interior though!
@@scalebuildersguild I found a really cool body to use but sadly it didn’t come with a dash, the one your using looks close to a copy of what’s in my gladiator. Can’t wait to see how your build turns out.
Do you have a link to that body on Cults3D?
Not handy, you'll have to search for it.
Mantap sekali vidionya
Terima kasih telah menonton!
Matt what shock are you using
They're Traxxas Big Bores with parts from Dlux Fab for droop set up.
@@scalebuildersguild Thank you keed up the excellent jop that's you doing
I had no idea Chris Hardwick was into scale rc's. Haha original joke I know.
You think I look like Chris Hardwick? I don't think I've heard that one before 😂
